I am in a rut with food. Can't seem to come up with anything original that everyone will eat. I do look at the "dinner" thread, but photographs of food put me off
I am having a concerted effort to run down the freezers so I can stock up again with fresh meat and kind of "start again". I have only been trying for a year and a bit
.
Apparently it is going to be warmer for a few days :T - the thought of spring approaching is what is keeping me going.
Have a good day all.
What type of food do you like? Dr Dragon and myself like to try a new recipe a month so I might be able to point you in a new directionMorning all. Apologies for not being around over the last few days. Little brother has been being bullied very badly at school over the last few months and was threatened by an adult saturday evening so we had to call the police. They came out sunday morning to talk to brother about the bullying he has been getting and the upshot is they are going to speak to the little darlings at his school. Getting an adult to pretend they are the father of one of them and threatening to kill my brother is just NOT on!:mad::mad::mad:
Add to that my eldest daughter was taken to hospital with chest pains last night and i was getting hourly updates on what was happening by cousin who went with her and i am shattered and have a raging headache.
GQ nursie is so loving and caring isnt she? She has just thrown a packet of paracetamol at me and sloshed half a glass of water over the side with a mutter of....something. Not too sure what. She does make a lovely cuppa though.
:mad::mad::mad::mad: re your brother and I hope the Police DO something (and get the school to do something as well) and I hope your daughter is feeling better quickly (and that it is nothing serious)Do not meddle in the affairs of Dragons, for thou art crunchy and good with catsup

OMG The weather again!!! Cold, dark, wet, windy miserable. Will it never end?
Still haven't decided what I'm doing tomorrow re Val. Day
We did OK at the market yesterday. Rad. Wales were interviewing the traders for: http://www.bbc.co.uk/programmes/b0079frs/broadcasts/upcoming
Showed the woman my 'No Horses' sign :P
Someone asked me if I want to do another market on Saturdays. I would, but it would be hard around the summer with B&B if we get any guests....it's about a half hour drive away too...so couldn't send DD alone. Will have to give it some serious thought.
DD called the council to 'progress' the HB claim and they said they wrote to her asking for her P45? She's not had that letter. They've gone to town with it this morning. She's still freaking out about being pregnant and ending up homeless, and I looked and the job centre site this morning and there is burger all on it that she could actually do.
Having serious issues motivating myself this morning... I've just about managed to put some washing up away

Just had a call about the interview I went to on Monday. Its now confirmed..................... I GOT THE JOB!!!!!! :j:j:j:j
Now, just waiting to find out when I start. Its only 12 weeks work and the agency said they will help me get set up with an umbrella company (too much hassle starting up my own company to get paid). Its a relief to know I will soon have some money coming in, it has been a real struggle (and may still be until I get paid but I'll survive!). Thank you for all the positive vibes..... it worked! :T
Its snowing here, I'm curled up on the sofa and I'm going to relax today since I now know I have a job. Its a huge weight off my shoulders. Yes I'll still do my surveys and tarot (as every penny helps) but my head won't be in as much of a tizz!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -

Well done Unixgirl :TThe_Dragon wrote: »What type of food do you like? Dr Dragon and myself like to try a new recipe a month so I might be able to point you in a new direction
All sorts really, meat, no meat, spicy, not spicy, DS isn't keen on casserole-y type things and DD is mostly vegetarian. I might have a look at the "takeaway" recipe book. Perhaps we should start a new recipe a month. I am trying to encourage nearly 14 year old DS into learning to cook - maybe I will get him to choose something.I wanna be in the room where it happens0 -
Fantastic news UnixGirl! Make yourself a huge mug of hot chocolate (you could even sneak a wee tot of Baileys/rum/brandy in it!), snuggle up on the sofa and make the most of the rest of your time off:D
7up - that is shocking. Bullying of all sorts is unforgivable. I hope the police can make an impact and sort it out once and for all. I hope your DD is doing ok now.
KatieOwl, for what it's worth - I'd be tempted to take up the 2nd market offer. It's a long time between now and summer and you might be able to work something out between now and then (but - hey, what do I know!) And hugs for you and your daughter, it sounds like she (and you) need them right now.
Lunch beckons....0 -
Those are the words I wanted to see UNIXGIRL, so delighted for you, well done, enjoy your relax petal, you deserve it with all your trying for work, brilliant news, happy now!!!!! Love Lyn xxx.0

You really *HAVE* to have red dragon pie
It's basically a shepherds pie made with Aduki beans, carrots, onions, garlic, passata, thyme, soy sauce, and salt/pepper. Topped with mash, it's really savoury, filling, vegetarian and pretty cheap. It's one of my best sellers in the market. Aduki beans are the little red ones, about the same size as mung beans. I use vegan marge and no milk in the mash, because I keep it GF/Vegan, but some normal mash, and a bit of cheese on top before you bake it makes for a super tasty dinner :j
You do have to soak the beans overnight, and then simmer until they are soft (less than an hour), before proceeding as if they were the 'meat' in a shepherds pie, but a 500g packet makes me about 8-10 meals for one (you know in the little foil trays...) so you could either make the whole lot and freeze it, or just use half the beans and freeze them for another time, I wouldn't bother to just soak and boil half the beans, as it's more fuel efficient to do the whole packet. Sorry if timings are a bit vague, as I do it while I'm doing other stuff and never time it LOL!

I think I might actually tackle trying to tidy up the house. I think this afternoon I'll tidy the kitchen (its the tidiest in the house), then clean the downstairs toilet and start tidying the living room. At least if I make a dent in it I'll feel happier. The worst rooms in the house are the spare room and my office. The spare room has become a dumping ground for clean clothes and my office resembles that episode of Friends .... Monica's secret cupboard! But at least I can focus now.
Just had a mug of green tea and 2 (yes naughty I know) cherry scones and butter to celebrate.
