Nuttyp that wreath sounds amazing. Its lovely that you have a photo of it to look at. When my mum was buried, photos of her grave were taken and there was absolute uproar within the family! How could this person take photos? I was only a child at the time and didnt understand the fuss being made and even now i wonder at the fuss. I have a copy of the photos and although i dont look at them its nice to know they are there, and to see what the flowers looked like especially as none of us children were allowed to attend the funeral.

Greyqueen thank you for letting me borrow nursie. I promise not to let her eat any raw meat. She can clean up any accidents with her toothbrush if she wants to try that in my house!

Hello All, how is everyone? Interview went well yesterday and I've been told I should hear late next week if I am through to the next stage. Parking cost me £5 :(. But it was relatively near the interview. I took a large black wool serape with my (modern style full length wool cloak) to put over my suit. Meaning I could stay warm without crumpling my suit. I bought the serape 18 years ago, and its been well used so I don't think it owes me anything. I bought it from Tie Rack when they had a shop in the train station in Glasgow. I think I paid £20 for it, which was a lot of money as I was a student at the time. I stopped off to see my Mum(at her work) on the way back and had a coffee, fruit salad and yoghurt for lunch together. I took Mum the CS stuff I had picked up for her (including a brand new pair of Ugg boots for £3). Mum gave me an extra £5 to cover my parking charges for my interview. She knows I'm finding it difficult at the moment.

I took quite ill last night and ended up with very severe heartburn. I tried milk, peppermint capsules and then bought Gaviscon tablets on route to taking OH to work (£3.29 for 16 tablets!), and they only took the edge off how badly I felt. Instead of doing some tarot I went to bed early. I felt positively awful and not up to doing readings. I was still in bed at about 8:30 this morning when SS brought OH home. I'm feeling a little better today but feel slightly flu-y if that makes sense. Scared to eat too much in case the heartburn comes back! I normally take steroid spray for a sinus problem which was making me deaf on one side (got given the spray a couple of weeks ago by my gp), I didn't take it last night or this morning as the thought of it (when feeling quite unwell) made me feel worse. So I am stretched out on the sofa and taking it easy and drinking plenty of fluids (weak squash or water).

Glad the interview went well yesterday unixgirl and hope you are feeling better soon.

((((((((((((kidcat))))))))))))))) bl**dy families, I am angry on your behalf. Never mind, you can choose your friends at least and we are all on your side. Focus on the important - yourself and your own little family and happier memories of your uncle and try to ignore as best as you can the inconsiderate and selfish attitudes of other family members.

I am not having the best of days - anxiety is pulling me down and I am struggling not to let it get the better of me. Started on my CV and can't get my head around it - all the gaps with raising a family and previous ill health. Trying to remember that I am only going for interview practise and not an actual job next week and the CV won't matter too much but I am a perfectionist and I know my confidence will be knocked ifI think my CV is rubbish.

Interviews for the volunteer training begin Monday and I haven't heard anything so thinking I haven't been shortlisted. I have been on tenterhooks all day. Jumped when the phone rang but it was a woman from the adult education college about the self defence course I had an awful time on. Explained it all again and came off the phone shaking. The course was meant to build self confidence and I actually felt worse after and I know one of the parents from the school so will have to lie about my reasons for leaving the course. I am the world's worst lier - couldn't do it even as a child.

Its DH's birthday on Sun and so far none of his extended family have sent anything - if nothing comes in the post tomorrow, it will be too late. This is the first time ever I haven't a present or card sorted so only have tomorrow plus running kids to various things and this CV to do. Need to find... maybe buy (eeeek!)some smart clothes for the course next week too and if I do happen to get an interview for the training, will need to prep for that. Hoping to keep Sun free as a family day and spoil DH. I am half thinking of taking us all out to lunch as my birthday gift to him, we could do with a treat, just worried about the cost.

Can't wait for half term as I will be busy with the kids and hopefully take my mind off of other stuff. Kids are beginning to mention my parents lots and I feel guilty they aren't getting to see their grandparents. As some stage I guess I will have to try and arrange for them to stay there but its difficult when we aren't even speaking to them.

anyway sorry for going on, its the anxiety talking. Wondering if it goes on for much longer whether I need to see GP but that will be a last resort.

hugs all round and we have sunshine so will send a little over north, east, south and west and abroad of course too!

No you don't you can simply say "I left because I did not enjoy it" which is both honest and accurate. If they say why just say "I didn't" and leave it at that.

SQ - Generally an employer only wants at the most the last 10 years on your CV - no need for a life history for them to wade through (unless they ask for it). Also MLR is right - just say you didn't enjoy it, perhaps it wasn't the 'right' type of course for you if you need to elaborate.
Good Luck - we're all rooting for you
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

OK Insurance...so none of the 'other' people I tried were able to help. But yet another site, threw LV up as the cheapest. So I called them, and pointed out that they came up as covering my house (without the B&B cover) cheapest on X Y and Z sites, at less than £200, and that when I took out the B&B extension in 2011 they charged me £149 for that for the year, so asked them to explain why the difference between the two was now over £400???

They tried to say that the didn't offer the policy I originally had any more, and that the cover was different...so I ran it though again, and double checked and with it still up on the screen, they agreed to recalculate, much faffing later, becuase I had to change for OH being a joint policy holder to me being the main holder, because of not having a joint BANK account and it came in at about £290 WITH the B&B cover....and the premium for paying by DD monthly.:eek: So I've saved over £300!!!!!! Fried my brain in the process, because we had to recalculate all the cover limits, but it means I continue in business for the next year I guess, I think I can cover the other expenses just about, especially if I can split them up a bit. Just goes to show, they would have happily shafted me for £300 if I'd just accepted it!

SQ: For the gaps on my CV when I was raising children, I used to write 'Between xxxx and xxxx I was fully committed to my family responsibilities.'
I've taught CV writing as part of literacy classes and all of the other postings are good advice.
This is the layout that I've used and taught.
In the top left, all your contact details. (This is the only time I ever use the letters after my name.) No DOB though.
You start with Skills, a summary of what you can do that would appeal to an employer.
I always tweak this for each individual job application, e.g. for a Maths tutor's job I would emphasise my Maths teaching experience, for an English tutor's job, the English teaching experience.
Then the next section is a list of Qualifications and Education, then any Professional bodies you belong to.
This is followed by Employment history.
Finally two sentences on Interests and finally the details of your Reference(s) (people who have agreed to be referees for you). You shouldn't have it longer than 2 A4 pages, ideally.
All that I've put in bold is used as subheadings so that a potential employer can find the info they want quickly.
Hope that helps you a bit.

YAY Katie! (My insurance is due for renewal soon, I shall take inspiration from you.)
Also, for you, and the others who clicked on and hopefully enjoyed John Wright, singing 'Sand and Water', thank you.

All this talk of funerals reminds of when my dad dies, my mums family were at the wake commenting on the amount of cruises my mum and dad were fortunate to go on. They even asked how much the one was that was unfortunatly the last they could go on together. FTI it was around £40 thousand for the total of 8 holidays. Money well spent i say, they deserved all of them and many more.

I chose a wreath for my dads funeral it had a fork, trowel and a potatoes, carrots, spring onions one primula plant. All attached to a wreath. My brother was horrified, i still remember saying it was stupid. That night i cried, but the next day it was the talk of the funeral. My dad was a farmer, though and through. So when other farmers asked to take a photo, as it made them smile. So there you go, not everything should be just so, different is often better. So im sat here looking at the photo of my dads wreath and through tears i am smiling, because my ddad would have been too.

    Take care veryone x

The wreath sounds lovely Nutty. I did a christmas wreath for my OH's Dad (who died aged 38) and his niece (who was 18 months old) graves. OH's Dad always loved carnations and so his Mum nearly always had them in the house, his little niece always went to them when she came in. I did theirs in red for his Dad and pale pink for his neice. All the flowers were tied in tight to the wreath. Now there was nothing left on the parcel shelf of my car when we took it out at the cemetery to put on their graves on Christmas Eve. When we got to my SIL (neice's Mum) there was 2 carnations on the parcel shelf with their stems (I'd cut the ones for the wreath), one in red and one in pink. I gave them to SIL and we told her what happened. I'd like to think this was their way of saying thank you.
