Morning all
Hugs to those in needs and big rocks for those who want to throw them at people.
Love the Roland stories, we don't get many here, there's open farmland 4 houses along but the actual farm buildings are a good mile away so they just don't seem to venture this far over. Our Moggies always leave rats laid out in precision style on the patio but everything else comes in, one had a rabbit once.....that was an experience. I could hear screaming getting closer and closer to the house, the cat flap went and then there was a bunny/moggy kerfuffle in the hall with piercing screaming from bunster....they were both bouncing off the walls and were up past 6ft doing some bizarre wall of death act. Took a lot of clearing up.
Life is manic here, got a stream of people coming in to quote for works that need doing and everyone seems to have come up with different degrees of what needs doing. I'm sure we'll get there......or I'll just live with a 32 year old boiler and a non functioning kitchen for a bit longer.
DH had MRI results back which have shown some nasties so he's been referred to a neurosurgeon, hope he can get seen soon as the resulting issues are getting worse fairly swiftly. Think we need to start planning for a possible long hospital stay/op situation so it doesn't sneak up on us....and of course if you plan for it, it never happens.
Eye tests today, I know I need new glasses but will get them online onceive got my prescription, I just won't pay £100's for glasses when I can get something adequate for £20 online.
Hope you all have a lovely day, whatever you're up to."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Kidcat, I'm mad at your family too. I suspect it was done so that your mother could play the martyr. I don't think you should worry too much about being at the funeral though, you gave so much to him in his final days and managed to say goodbye with love whilst he was still here and that counts in my mind far more. You do need to add a little distance between your family and them though, if they can't respect you or the things you care about they need not to be around quite so much. Anyway, that's my 2 pennorth.
Kidcat, this post from softstuff sums it up perfectly. Maybe you will be able to have a few quiet moments for reflection on the day of the funeral even though you are unable to attend?
Monnagran i loved your mouse story. A good job i had finished my cuppa or i would have spat it over the laptop i was laughing so much!0 -
Hope DH can get seen quickly Pooky. And I must do that the next time I get glasses, although I don't think I'll convince DH. Can online suppliers cope well with astigmatisms too? Both DH & I need very thin glass or it's like we're wearing glass bottles.0

Mine would be like bottle ends if it weren't for thin lenses so yes they can cope with them. My last ones were a £6 pair via on offer on here, they've lasted 3 years so :T.
Really sparkly frost here this morning, looks gorgeous but just went to defrost the car and my goodness it's chilly. I've got a load of pallets arriving this afternoon to chop up and I need to completely reorganise the garage and woodpiles before the plumbing work can begin so looks like I'll be wrapping up later....I do love the cold frosty mornings so it will be a pleasure to be outside in it."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. Possession, my glasses are the same, but i have one eye far worse than the other. I would dearly love some new glasses but i think i will have to wait a bit longer. The only thing i have found is you need to know the line of sight number. When they get you to look ahead in that box thing they get a number thats the line of sight. They do the mainpart of the lense at this number.
Had an incredibley long day yesterday, some people are very trying. Oh well today is another day.

Morning all!:)
We still have our resident 'roland' in the garden. I thought it had cleared off but, same time yesterday afternoon it pops out from under the fence and sneaks over to the bird feeders. Cheaky so and so, it runs for cover everytime I go out and sits watching me from under the fence. DH has been commissioned to repair said fence this afternoon, sort out the feeders and generally try to encourage it to clear off.
It got me to thinking as to why I am generally freaked out by anything smaller than a rabbit and I think it stems from my childhood when a mouse got into our old victorian house. I clearly remember my DM hurrying me into another room, standing me on a chair and herself on another while she issued orders to DD (between screams) to dispatch it immediately. Then there was the time a live mouse jumped out of one of my previous bunny's hutch when I was changing the straw. I nearly died of fright (I was about 10). The final straw was when my late cat 'twiggie' left me a beautiful present in my shoes which were parked by the back door. Pity I didn't notice it before I slipped my feet into them urgh!! Anyway thank you toughies, my current garden visitor has now been called 'roland' and as he hasn't been invited he will hopefully be sent on his way today.
Bit chilly here this morning. Decided to wash the dog blankets and pop them out for a while on the line. I don't know about anyone else with pets, but I seem to spend nearly two hours every morning just getting them sorted out -it's just like having children.
Not too much planned today apart from the garden DIY and I won't be getting involved in that, but might have a potter in the greenhouse later.
(((hugs))) as usual to all those who need them.Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

The husband is O+ and I'm A+, so gawd knows what our boys are. I know my Mum is AB.
Tell them to google away or talk to the Red Cross. One parent A and one parent O usually results in an A child.
Did they fail Biology?Greyqueen could i please borrow nursie for a week? Im sure she could whip my little darlings into shape in no time at all. And do you think she will sort out the school for little brother please? You'd be very welcome, I'm packing Nursie's bag as I speak. Please don't let her eat raw meat on your premises, the outcome isn't pretty. Just ask SDG, she borrowed her for a while and can tell you all about it.............
Gotta run to work, love to all, catch ya laters. GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

KIDCAT I am sorry that your family are behaving so selfishly, I know what it is to have a controlling Mum and had to sever all ties nearly 30 years ago, I know it was the right decision for us as a family but, it is extremely difficult to make as a decision and needs a great deal of fortitude and determination to maintain. If you find you are unable to attend the funeral, could you find just half an hour to visit your local church at the time of the funeral and have a quiet contemplative time to think of your uncle and light a candle for him? I am certain he appreciated your devotion and care when he needed it most and I do believe he will know why you aren't able to be with the family and will be pleased to have you thinking of him. I know you are hurting and angry and grieving for your uncle but you did everything right and made his ending lighter for him, Hugs and more Hugs my friend, I care that you are hurt and wish so much I could do something constructive to help you, all I can do is send you some love and strength to get through this very unhappy period of your life, be strong, Love Lyn xxx.0
