Byatt, what is worrying you? The rest is not important I'm sure everyone knows that really.

I'll put the virtual kettle on, pull up a chair and tell us the problem and see if we can help
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • Right. Dont see WHY you deserve an explanation( not directed st 99% of you) Yes initally this WAS an ae(years ago) I was at my lowest ebb. Had serious DV issues (mental not really physical abuse) and yes I was ashamed to afmut it to my friends on mse(i joined in 2005) its not always easy to admit things are sh**e you know. I changed my life and honestly dont post with my original name anymore as that is part of my old life. Think what you will but that is 100% truthful.

Warning - do not read if you are not getting involved in the childish behaviour exhibited on this thread. Rant to follow.

!!!!!! - stop it. Now. ALL OF YOU.

Yes - you know who you are in your hearts so don't pretend otherwise.

Frankly you ought to be ashamed of yourselves. If you were children you would all be put on the Naughty Step and made to think of your actions and the consequences to everyone involved, the say what you did wrong and apologise to ALL concerned.

So just take a moment to think if this is really an appropriate way to behave and if you are happy with your behaviour on here and can sleep soundly at night knowing you have not hurt and upset others.

If not the answer is in your hands and your hands only.

    Enough said.

    Rant over

Thanks to all who replied. It's quite a hard one to call. Would it be invasion of privacy if I spoke to the doc - we have the same one - or would it be neighbourly? I've never reported anybody for anything in my life and would feel terrible reporting him to DVLC or anything like that. And I can't say for sure why he is falling over so much, as I dont know what meds he's on or not on. I do know what you're saying shegar, and I'm not being hauled into a carer's role. I've seen me out there hanging up his washing in a force 9 gale when it blew down - and him in his kitchen watching with a big smile. Nooooway lol!

oi don't think expressing concern about a person to a qualified healthcare professional can be seen as anything other than responsible. mentioning it to the secretary might be gossip, but a doctor in the privacy of a suitable setting - it will be taken in the spirit intended - caring and compassionate.

  • Folks, we've had a disagreement between two of our regular posters which both of them have decided to draw a line under. Neither of them has posted a word about the incident since then and I applaud both of them for being civilised to each other and the rest of us contributors who are regulars on this particular thread. What has happened is some posting by others who read but do not post regularly that has been a little caustic and has ruffled feathers here. I don't think that is enough to cause the closure of this as a thread, I'm sure that the Board Guides who do such a good job of monitoring all the threads must experience much worse behaviour in the day to day running of the MSE network. We all get along perfectly well without having to agree completely with everything, don't let a little dissent spoil your participation in the joy of sharing that we have on here, Cheers Lyn xxx. Having said that, this thread is open to all posters and readers, please if you are going to join in be civil, you'll be very welcome if you are.

DSS has come home from school with a note in his planner saying he is racist.

He has been kept in all break time and made to apologise in person and in a letter.

He said that he was talking with two of his friends about countries and one of his friends has one parent from Croatia and one from Russia and he asked "does that mean your mixed race"

Have we gone that politically correct that it is racist ? He asked me if it was and I don't think so, just inquisitive. He is not a spiteful kid and hasn't got a mean bone in him and he is really upset.

This has upset me and his father and no doubt his Mother will be saying if he lived with her this would never have happened.

Please let me know what you think I am so upset

    PiC x

We have forms asking if we are mixed race, white etc don't we

Right then people, long time lurker here :D I posted very occasionally on a couple of the old threads, but I have read every single post from the beginning of the first thread.

There's loads of useful info on here and I'd hate to see it all disappear. Also nice to see people being talked back 'up' when they're having a bad day.

But there has been the occasional sarcastic comment masked as an innocent remark/question. Also accusations of AEs from someone who is an AE. I'm not getting into how I know so don't ask :p:D

I post regularly on the Daily and while it doesn't feel like part of a clique, I'm sure it must seem like that to newbies. The same applies to every thread that has regular posters, including this one. Only natural, we get to know each other's sense of humour, etc. But sometimes it does seem like a different opinion is taken as the poster being a troublemaker, when most of the time that's not the case.

Just thought you'd like to know what it sometimes looks like from the 'outside'. Even if it's not like that at all
