Redruby, yes it is sad when there is a spat but it will blow over. I'm really not sure why you say it was not unexpected. If you do lurk regularly you must have seen that this is one of the kindest threads.

Its not the first time this has happened though. And there has not been a lot of kindness towards one poster, not nice.

And plenty folk would be glad of a roof and heating plus a small wage. I think that kind of job would be good if you were single.

I know a lovely eastern european chap who is a live-in carer for an elderly gent. He gets a home and money and the old chap gets tlc as well as house maintenance. I am thinking au-pair may be the way to go for the elderly who need help and can afford it. Way better than sitting in a chair in a care home

Oh I would LOVE to see you post, it all helps when people add something positive to the thread. We all, well almost all, have something that we can share with others. Something that will help lighten the load

Thank you for your kind words Kittie, but I wont be posting, I will go back to lurking (if this is allowed) I will stick to the daily thread, much nicer over there.

Cheaps you know where I am if you need a shoulder to cry on re: your families finances. I got a t-shirt that'll fit. There's not a lot I don't know unfortunately.

Give me a shout, don't struggle with it on your own x

I probably outweigh you by a couple of stones, so will stretch the t-shirt, but thanks so much, and will talk to you later - might need to pick your brains! :)

    Keep the faith everyone.

    A xo

Well, please don't lurk, join in and help support all posters. But don't damn a whole thread just because people are human on occasion.
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
  • I have more respect for people who do or say one wrong thing in the heat of the moment then regret it after than those who jump in apparently just to stir things up again. Both Popperwell and Fuddle have stated that they wish to draw a line under previous events and then move on. Why can't everyone just accept that and let it happen. PLEASE? For the sake of the thread and EVERYONE who posts, and EVERYONE who choses not to post?

    PLEASE?

That's what's wrong with this world isn't it? There are so many petty-minded people in it, Angel Jenny. I wouldn't take the tiniest slightest bit of notice of her- some people are so small inside that they have to build this fake front outside. Ignore her and walk on serenely pet ;)
I think I'll stash the xmas bits in the cupboard and try hard to forget that there's 3 boxes of turkish delight and 3 boxes of jellied fruits and...:(

In the spirit of supporting each other, and remembering we are about to embark on the season of goodwill....I made a Christmas Cake yesterday. Soaked the fruits in brandy and Amaretto for 24 hours beforehand, then made and baked the cake then wrapped it in greaseproof and put it on the dresser in the dining room.

Last night the carbon monoxide monitor started screeching and registered 40 whatevers on its screen. OH stuck it inside the boiler cupboard, the number came down again so we don't think anything is wrong with the boiler. I checked outside and the vent isn't blocked either. OH came to the conclusion that it must have been the fumes off the cake that triggered the monitor.

Oh boy, that is going to be some Christmas Cake!
