  • Mum regularly put her washing on the line in the winter when we were kids. We used to be amazed at the stiff jeans that used to come in off the line, she used to say it made them easier to iron
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

Well I thought I pulled yet another rabbit from the dwindling hat, by conjuring up a pretty fine dinner, using what was knocking about in the fridge veg wise, and making some cheese and olive scones as there was no potatoes, thereby not driving to town and going shopping when I didn't need to, and what do I get, do I get thank you, nope I get this piece of aubergine is really hard...poke poke. Never mind that every OTHER piece of aubergine is cooked, or that the rest of the plate is tasty...

I really despair sometimes! The odd kind word would go a long way ....He's too bl**dy used to being well fed. It makes me so angry, because some days it's a really a struggle and there is never a thank you  Venting here cos' if I do it on FB the kids will see it!

:) Oh yes, I can recall Mum hanging out whites in the frostly weather and having to get them in and karate-chop the bigger items to fold them into the linen basket. It bleaches and sterilises as well.

I have to say line-dried laundry tops the poll of my all-time favourite smells. Such a shame I can't dry stuff outside.

Pops, does it have to be outdoors vs the tumbler at your home? I dry all my stuff on a clothes airer in the living room, winter and summer and it dries in a few hours. The heaviest stuff might have to go overnight, but that's it. Even with cotton sheets, I wash them first thing, rack them and they're dry enough to be made back up onto the bed by bedtime.

I too remember my mum and grandmother saying about the whites in white weather, and I agree you cant beat the smell of line dried washing, mines always out apart from when it rains on the big garden line .......

Ive got a 12 x 12 porch over back door so I hang mine out all the time , i bring the towels in and always finish them off in the TD, it keeps them soft.........

I also agree with pops on the TD issue, I put only a few bits in a time , they dry far more quicker than loading the td so stuff cant tumble proper........I dont put tea shirts in TD cos they shrink.....................

.Been nice drying weather today, really windy and sunny, been out in the garden and jet washed lots of paths down to stop them going slippery with the green algae.........In for a minus 3 tonight and I do believe getting colder next week...Sheila

I put the sheets out today and they froze but it was lovely to hang washing out under blue skies.

Stilt - ouch to the buggy cost, will you be able to get funding for the entire thing?

Yes, pretty ouch and scary - can't believe it's more than we just paid for the new (to us) car!!!! Got a whole £289 voucher from wheel chair services to put towards it and we've told the charity we've applied to that we can make that up to £500 but really hoping they'll fund the rest as we've just had to put £320 towards DD's specialised car seat.

Well set of to my tutoral this morning and bumped into someone I know taking their dog out - so wished that was me as it was a cracking morning for it - sun out but frost on the windscreens. Was really pleased with tutorial as tutor is great and made the material seem more interesting and I now have a hope that I will actually enjoy this module after all!

Pick the plate up and take it away saying "we'll it was that or nothing and you don't get to whinge about having food"
He is behaving like a (spoilt petulant) child, treat him like one, remove his privileges in this case food.

Harsh but might just get the message across. I did it once, caused a few home truths to be spoken (so get these straight in your head) but got the point across.
