It's a pity that the word diet has been hijacked and associated with always losing weight isn't it?
After all diet is just the choices we decide eat whether for taste or health reasons and even those things that are seen as "naughty" can be eaten if you are good with whatever else is eaten...
I haven't avoided eating chips but have not had any for ages so tonight am having some from the chippy as a treat and refuse to feel guilty doing so...but of course it then depends what else I decide to have..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. i didn't have to but have a washer going at present(keeping on top of things)but I have to decide whether to wait until tomorrow and hang them on the line or hang the cost...stick the clothes in the tumble drier.
The washer is so good with the spin cycle they are quite dry to start off with which helps...and I sometimes split the load in the tumble drier because I think(rightly or wrongly)the clothes will dry quicker than putting much more into the drier at once."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Also got a mint copy of Chinese Food Made Easy by Ching He Huang- loved the TV programme so going to give her recipes a go
I've got this Delia book, not made everything from it but can recommend the split pea and veg soup, potage paysanne, devilled chicken drumsticks, steak and onions in Guiness, and some more. Sometimes I've swapped an item or two, depending on what I've got in or can afford, but I love her cooking.

Two small bits of luck yesterday...found a £2 coin and in a charity shop found an M&S wool jumper for 99p."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

By golly it's turned very, very cold here. The washing came in nearly frozen. The wind has whipped up and even popping to the garage for logs has left me with that burny feeling in my fingers from getting too cold. This cold snap that's on it's way sounds quite nasty.
I remember my grandma regularly bringing in clothes from the line frozen solid. She used to be pleased. She thought it helped with the softness upon thawing. Any truth in that?0 -
Afternoon all!:) It's been a gorgeous day here too. The sun was shining so DH did as he had promised and turned over the raised beds adding fresh manure ready for the spring:j I managed to get out and sow some Tomato, Onion and Chilli seeds, so that's a start.
2.8lbs lost this week on the 5:2 diet and my health seems to be picking up a bit too:) hence the extra activites.
Also made a pot of vegetable soup, which was just what was needed after our spell in the garden. Despite the gorgeous sunshine -it was freezing.
So it's off to DS1, DiL & GS for dinner this evening and possibly a board game or two:)
Hope everyone has a lovely evening.

Orange Warning: Strong to Gale Force winds, in association with a deep area of low pressure based just to the North of Scotland will lead to the potential for damaging gusts of wind during Monday, with gusts of 50mph possible for much of Scotland and Northern Ireland, and as high as 75mph for Northern and Western Scotland. When combined with increasingly wintry showers, this may lead to blizzard conditions at times, especially across higher ground, and this may lead to some disruption to transportation.
Yellow Warning: During Monday and increasingly into Tuesday colder air will flood southwards across the UK as bitingly cold NW’ly winds sweep through. As well as overnight frost, and the associated risk of icy stretches on untreated surfaces, showers are likely to turn increasingly wintry through the period, becoming rather widespread across the country, with the showers most frequent across Northern and Western areas, as well as close to Eastern coastlines. These are likely to lead to some accumulations of snow even to lower levels, though amounts at present remain rather uncertain.
The type and origin of the flow currently modelled usually tends to develop un-forecast disturbances closer to the time, which may lead to enhanced showers activity, and even longer spells of sleet/snow at times.
Latest weather warning for uk....I think its going to be Baltic in the wind with heavy snow for some..as my gran used to say...I can feel it in my water...“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. I remember my dear late mum doing this as well. She would hang washing out whatever the weather -apart from rain/snow. She didn't care if it was as stiff as a board and always said the frosty weather helped to keep her whites 'white:)Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Oh yes, I can recall Mum hanging out whites in the frostly weather and having to get them in and karate-chop the bigger items to fold them into the linen basket. It bleaches and sterilises as well.
I have to say line-dried laundry tops the poll of my all-time favourite smells. Such a shame I can't dry stuff outside.
Pops, does it have to be outdoors vs the tumbler at your home? I dry all my stuff on a clothes airer in the living room, winter and summer and it dries in a few hours. The heaviest stuff might have to go overnight, but that's it. Even with cotton sheets, I wash them first thing, rack them and they're dry enough to be made back up onto the bed by bedtime.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I can't say I've actually done any scientific testing to prove this theory, but my Nan used to say the same, she also claimed it whitened the whites too.
Maybe it's just putting a good slant on a bad drying day? I dunno.
Personally I just bung em in the dryer if it's freezing .... I'm to yeller to face the cold!0
