I wasn't even complaining about struggling due the snow that was down, it wasn't meant that way either...it's awful to be misunderstood...oh well...these things happen...good to see you had a better day."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Milly - i second the idea of a photo frame.and a memeory box.
What about a digital photo frame? I saw one in argos for about £7 and have a lovely silver frame. I've seen a local photo shop advertise if you take a frame into them with photos they will upload and scan them onto the photo frame for about £5.
Oh and the box love the ideas with confetti and glasses, sounds really nice0 -
Kezlou, those taxi drivers sound brilliant - I use the company I do as they live up to their name - Star Cabs. Thanks to the trike I don't have to rely on them too often, but when I do it's great to know that they will be there.
A few years ago I went to my niece's wedding. My sister really wanted me to be there for all celebrations and paid for me to stay at the (expensive) hotel overnight as I couldn't afford it at the time.
I'm glad I was honest with her - and I did pay her back too, when my current job started to pay well. When I was living abroad I came home for several weddings of friends- but there were others I missed as I just couldn't afford them. They understood.
Looking forward to a good evening tomorrow out at the music club. Hopefully the guest artist will make it over OK from Middlesbrough, he's absolutely fantastic imo and has played at the Cambridge Folk Festival, so others think so too.
Pops, I have the privilege of knowing you in person. I know what a positive person you are, on the whole, from chatting to you.
With nobody to talk to at home, you converse on here, with light as well as shade.
I know it takes you a while to get around to acting on things.
You have been given lots of good advice, and I'm really pleased you took the steps to come along to the club when I made you aware of it.
Hopefully in weeks to come, you'll be able to act on some more of the advice given here (and in person!) and make more positive moves for yourself, putting more good things into your life.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Pops I'm sorry I came across so harsh I am just scared and worried about you. Sweetie, if you lived closer to me I would be inviting and bringing you home made treats and lots of cuppas to drink. You remind me my of father which I why getso upset. He lives on his own and after a bit of, tough lovee he's finally looking after himself in terms of being positive.
Pops my father is actually my step grandad and he is very dear to me.
You weren't complaining about the snow, I've been out in it today and it was very hard waling in your doing well getting out and about. I was, exhausted after a metre!
Regarding neglecting your family it wasn't just, about christmas it was, about acknowledging they still there. That your not on your own. You do have family still around you who care about you.
Take care ant xxx0 -
Thank You mcculloch29, much appreciated. I wonder if "Our" club is on tonight and who will make it there(audience or performers?)
It could be difficult...
Kezlou,
Thanks...I had been thinking something similar about living closer. I really do push myself sometimes. But have been known to get a taxi for the smallest amount of distance to get home...so can emphesise(sp)with what you say about easily becoming exhausted. I also second the praise of a certain taxi firm here;)
I hope I can keep going and have some indepedence for a few years...I'm not ready for a home just yet:p
Sorry if it sounded ungrateful regarding "Family" it was not meant to...as for me...when I go, I am the last in the line of this side of the family. Again, it is a bit of a pity being so far from them. But better than the other brother of Mum's who lives in America. That really is too far.
Will be busy getting the place ready for "The Visit" tomorrow. Hope it goes ok...no problems with the electrics...
Will make a start around 8am, nothing exiciting...breakfast, washing and tidying all day...a day for staying indoors. Unless tonight's Music Club is still on...:)
I'll finish my stew off tonight before I go out...what an exciting life I lead(as many say on here too;))

Though Twitter can seem a bit useless, I have found some sites quite something and inventive. There are some that relay trivia, quotes and images...but there is an actor(it really is him)that talks to fans and seems to so daily and for quite a lot of the time...
None other than...
William Shatner(Capt Kirk)of the original Star Trek. He seems both approachable and does not talk endlessly about that series with devotees of that programme."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Popperwell:- Thanks for the Mouse and Teddy pictures, started my day with a chuckle!
Millymolly:- Use the champagne if you already have it! I'm all for recycling unwanted gifts or surplus stuff. Even better it's free!
Playing in the snow again today, hoping to make the Snowman we didn't get round to yesterday!:D
Nipped into A*da last night to find them selling off all their bread for 10p! Store had been empty all day and they had lots to get rid off. Manager was encouraging everyone to fill up their freezers. Needless to say I got a few.:rotfl:Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”0 -

Millymolly - Just thinking of what I did for a relative's wedding present - although it was a wedding gift, I made a box to be opened for 1st anniversary. Included a bottle of sparkly wine and a couple of (inexpensive but nice/stylish) glasses and then around the edges little things to do with "love and pampering" (you could alter the theme to suit) - such as love heart sweets, heart shaped bath confetti, little candles etc and we made a CD of suitable love songs. I chose a lovely box (you could always cover a plain one) and used nice tissue paper and those sparkly confetti bits. If you know they had a particular colour scheme for their wedding, you could incorporate that?
or are you any good at making cakes - a big one or 30 small cakes maybe?
whatever you decide, don't spend more than you can afford. Personally I have turned down invites to weddings, hen dos and meals out etc several times especially when they involve hotel stays etc - it's becoming a habit. We just can't afford it and I no longer feel awful about it.
oh and the meal out - could you just turn up for coffee and pud at the end instead of the whole meal and discretely tell the waiting staff you would like to pay for your own. Bit of a long shot but I've done something similar before. Or take the person out for a pre-dinner drink beforehand or a coffee at lunchtime?
sq:)
Thanks the box sounds like a good idea:)
Iam thinking of not going,to the meal or just seeing if I can just have a starter
Starting to save £2 coins again, but it is a struggle:rotfl:Not doing very well keep spending them

Milly - just a suggestion. As it's your sister's anniversary, would she understand that you don't have much money to spare? Could you buy a nice, cheap picture frame, maybe from a Charity shop, or do you have one you could recycle, and put in a recent photo? Surely it's the thought that counts.
As far as the restaurant goes, well, I think someone's having you on, asking for £7 each for decs, tip, present and cake. And then have to pay for your meal as well! Could someone not bake a cake themselves? Do they really need a cake, when they're getting a present? My DD2 suggested that you say you're going to the meal, then have a convenient tummy upset on the day! It's horrible when you're totally skint. There are lots of people on here who have been there and some who still are, so don't feel bad about it. You're among friends here.
Thanks think I'm going to give the champagne and the meal has to be paid for before going:( so can't use the upset tummyStarting to save £2 coins again, but it is a struggle:rotfl:Not doing very well keep spending them

A smile can mean so much Meme30,
I always try to give one or a kind word and often do speak to strangers when out...Very rarely do I get a negative response.
It might have been a good day to look in at the local SM here after all but I am pretty well stocked up, however I had half a dozen bottles of Lucozade energy drinks(in a SM they'd be worth £4.80)I paid £1 and two large books from the charity shop and that was enough, had I taken the shopping trolley it might have been different.
The world is still and quiet here, I don't think any more snow has fallen but it has frozen especially the slush...
