Quick pop in - evening all!
I've just skimmed through the posts & someone has had back trouble. Can I suggest that if there is a local Rugby Club you may be able to see their physio/osteo - they are usually extremely good as they cope with all sorts of injuries

Remenber the freeze up of '63 - very few homes had any central heating & I used to go to be with nightdress, socks and a cardigan my mum used to light the gas oven in the kitchen & I'd run downstairs to get dressed in front of it. No buses so I walked to work & back. Went out with a group of friends and the car broke down so I had to walk home - had a new pair of patent shoes so I took them off & walked home in stockinged feet 'cos I didn't want to spoil them! Oh the vanity of a 17 year old ;) I too remember the Billy Cotton Band Show & his shout of 'Wakey Wakey' Hancocks Half Hour, The Navy Lark, Round the Horne (my favourite) & Jimmy Wheeler (with the handlebar moustache) in the Glum's.

    Stay warm & safe toughies

aw fuddle - sorry about the distance i didn't realise the school was that far away :(
sorry to hear about your MIL, what a nightmare about the job

Happy belated birthday kittie and lynn :)

    Happy Birthday unixgirl
Cheapskate i agree totally, better to leave a job than have it ocntrol and affect your life in such a way. you did the right thing.

Smileyt - great news about the job, you do attract them don't ya!

pops - i don't know how many times we all have to say about heating, and to be honest i'm sick of saying it. I live in a house that is about 120+ years old. Its drafty as heck and takes ages to warm up. I have a timer for the heating to come on at 5:30am ready for when we get up at 6:30am. It may be 15 degrees by 6:30am but its better than 12 degrees.

You are physically hurting your body, doesn't matter how many vitamins and oils you put into yourself. If you don't keep yourself warm and your house warm then it becomes undone. Your knees are hurting because they cold and your muscles are tensing up. Trust me i know about these things.

I'm actually going to stop advising you pops because no matter what i or anyone says you just ignore it .
Oh and you do have family you just neglect to see them. You were invited over for a christmas meal but you didn't go.Its quite annoying when you drop in say "i don't have anyone", you do, you have friends on here and in real life. Stop the self pitying, it doesn't help you.

I realise i come on here and whine and complain because to honest i don't have many friends who i can trust and talk to. I am quite isolated, i don't get along with my extended family and have only just started to create a relationship with my immediate family and biological family. But i would never repeat "i don't have anyone" because i do, on this thread, i laugh, cry and actually feel like i'm among friends. when you suffer from depression, anxiety etc that is a big thing. Its also quite a big thing to say on a public forum.

sorry if anyone wishes me to remove my comment then i happily will.

continuing my rambling but I never assume anyone can afford social events. I try not to ever put people in a situation where they have to fork out much, if any money to see me eg our wedding reception was at home and we self catered it including a bar. I would much rather a more modest location (all right very modest location) and less fancy food etc and know that people could afford to come. There was no worry about buying drinks from the bar, buying expensive outfits or gifts (we made it clear it wasn't that sort of wedding) - if people could afford train fares or petrol, they could come as they were. It worked and was very relaxed.

I have done the some for other social events and friends who demand I spend lots of money I don't have don't remain friends for long! That's just how it is. Sorry to go on - I feel annoyed that people put others through these situations.

    sq:)

    No I'm not Kezlou...honest,
I've had a good day and been cosy...and the heating is on at present. Or has been until recently. I've had two bowls of my home made stew too...

I was tired after a little trip out and trying to get about with the snow that was down...but in general I am much more positive...sorry that you think otherwise.

Had a tiring but good day today, went to see a house for rent. As soon i know i'll be striaght on here!

Found a fantastic taxi service, blueline, sounds silly but they really are fab. I used them twice today when i went to pay money in the bank and back from a viewing. The first time the taxi was helping me in and out of the car and insisted in walking me to the bank in case i slipped, such a star. Second time, i phoned said my address and said oh your the one with crutches! The taxi firm told me to wait in the shop, they sent over a taxi and actually came into the shop and insisted on carrying the shopping to place inside my passageway by the front door. Honestly i couldn't believe it, my OH felt such a relief when i told him about the firm he said right your using them all the time now. Oh and they wouldn't accept tips either .
so the bank will be happy, it felt good to be out, paid OH's contributions, so another job out the way. Then came back spent some time with boys playing in the snow and had lovely hm veg soup. Children kept going back for more!

Its still snowing and looks so nice and clean,

And as for family, it is difficult to see them as they live a long way away and are often not in the country...it is a brother of Mum's in his late 80's.

The only way I could have visited at Christmas was using a taxi and at the time we had no idea what the weather would be like. It was a kind gesture but even they said it would probably be difficult. We're talking of around 50miles(return)virtually no bus service...and certainly not direct.

I don't say about the lack of family to tug at the heartstrings or to get sympathy. Again sorry if you feel that way...and I have caused some ill feeling some how...

My friends are on here and I have some now thanks to Andrea when I get to the music club on the town. But if this has come about because of what I said to Molly, its true that I would not be attending get togethers like that...

I do also understand about depression having seen others with it and I have had personal experience of it too but I think I am seeing a light at the end of the tunnel...

    Didn't see that coming...

not sure where to write this but wondered if anyone had suggestions for a 30th wedding anniversary present (sister). Absolutely skint , not enough coming in to pay everything:(
I am also invited to a 50th birthday at a restaurant (surprise for work mate). We can choose from 2 price range menu's but the organiser wants us to add £7 for decorations, tip, present and cake. The reataurant has already increased the ind price of dishes on their special price menu by £2 - £3 which I think should cover the tip.
I know everyone will think I am tight but seriously skint, everyone says we have to the end of feb to pay but I don't think anything will be better then.
I just feel so bad never having any money

Milly - just a suggestion. As it's your sister's anniversary, would she understand that you don't have much money to spare? Could you buy a nice, cheap picture frame, maybe from a Charity shop, or do you have one you could recycle, and put in a recent photo? Surely it's the thought that counts.
As far as the restaurant goes, well, I think someone's having you on, asking for £7 each for decs, tip, present and cake. And then have to pay for your meal as well! Could someone not bake a cake themselves? Do they really need a cake, when they're getting a present? My DD2 suggested that you say you're going to the meal, then have a convenient tummy upset on the day! It's horrible when you're totally skint. There are lots of people on here who have been there and some who still are, so don't feel bad about it. You're among friends here. :)

like i say pops i'm not going to comment anymore and i do not want to dominate the thread with it.

Yes your hurting in the snow, i know mine are too, but it also the cold. for instance saying you can store milk out of the fridge as the room temperature is cold enough to keep it fresh is just ridiculous.

I'm glad you have the heating on now.
