Sitting room is freezing today despite the fire ticking over all night, the embers were still glowing, and I managed to coax it back to life, but it ain't warm!

I've just dug out the two quilted bedspreads that I used a couple of years ago to keep the heat in here and cobbled together a means to put them back up (Cup hooks, split curtain rings, drawing pins!) hopefully it will start to build up a bit of heat now. Half my sitting room has a low ceiling, with beams, then it suddenly goes up about 10 foot into a sloped roof with a skylight,, that area is so big, I think it traps all the heat up there. I put the beadspreads across the opening to keep the heat in the low bit!

I think I may pop into town for more milk...don't fancy doing it tomorrow if the roads are icy.

There is a red weather warning for Wales, they are talking about 13 inches of snow! Be careful everyone.
Tucked up on the settee in under a blanket. Lit a candle so heat is ticking over in between the heating coming on. Amazing how much difference a candle makes.
Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”

Quiet on the tarot today so far and i can't stay on too late (I normally work over tea time) as one of my friends is coming to tea (its my birthday next monday and she's dropping off my present). Making spag with meatballs and garlic bread. Putting breadcrumbs in with the meatballs to fill us up and make it go further!!!!! I need to find something to put on OH's sandwiches for work. Seriously considering egg mayo as we have a lot of eggs! Thank goodness for Ald*s. They do a box of 15 for £1.35.

I've done my Onepoll for today, checked the bank (£20 spending money left, I have enough to pay my bills at the end of this month.... once I get tarot in, digs from SS, money back from OH etc and I'll have a tiny amount left over..... hoping to increase that.......all ideas very welcome!). Had call from one agency wanting to put me in for a job, and I called another about the role I mentioned before. Its supposed to be interviewing tomorrow, now supposedly they only have 3 CV's, mine being one of them. I would like that job and the agency thinks it starts begining of feb.

I cleared another bag of rubbish (I'll need to add it to my total) and I'll need to sort out the clothes that need to go to the rag n bone man. I've been keeping a shopping list (spreadsheet) and OH is quite surprised how much hasn't been getting wasted! :T. SS on the other hand has been buying stuff and letting it go off. He bought a baguette that had been sitting so long it was more like concrete! I did cheat last night with the stew, I love dumplings but OH and SS won't eat them so I made one for myself to go with a portion of the stew to fill me up. I spotted lots of nice recipes on the Aldi's website I think I'll try once I've got spare dosh for the ingredients. My meal planner is planned upto next friday, I'll need to see what else I have in the freezer (as its almost full) apart from the stuff I know about, that I can use.

My top OH bought me for my birthday arrived today (it got paid on my cc so he needs to pay me back asap, and stupidly I forgot to go through quidco ). Its really nice but it has made me realise how much weight I've put on and it needs to go.

I had a look at music magpie (to see if I could make some money off my CD's and clear my clutter.....once I've put them onto my itunes) but they were offering pennies for CD's and relatively new ones too. One of the popular music compilations (which I bought in the summer) they offered 23p!

If anyone is looking for some good recipes check out Aldi's website and their recipe section. Cheap ones, fancy and all stuff in between.
CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J

It has started to snow here in Leicester. The forecast seems to be for it to carry on all tomorrow and for us to get up to 10cm of snow. I'm waiting to see what happens.
I have masses of food in the house, my milkman makes it through whatever the weather and I'm very close to a HUGE tesco extra store. So I'm not too worried.
I'm still a snot monster and feeling yuck, but have a bit more energy than yesterday. I spent most of yesterday in bed as our heating decided to die. Thankfully DH was able to get a new thermostat for it and it is now working again. :T

Take care and stay warm everyone xxx

Yes a few flurries here to the East Midlands-but it is freezing. My outdoor thermometer has been registering -3.5 all afternoon, it's around 20c in here but doesn't feel like it. Curtains all tightly shut, emergency lantern charged, some candles lit and others at the ready and a pot of HM soup on. Feels like we're in lockdown. Still worrying about DS2 travelling home tonight and his hospital appointment in the morning.

On the bright side it just might be the excuse I need to have a glass of something warming later and I don't mean tea.

  • No laying snow here in Hampshire but flurries all day, intermittently and it is now very cold indeed. Taking a tip out of Kitties book and have just put on a large pan of Lentil and Tomato Soup with italian herbs which will last us through to next week. Hope everyone that has snow now is coping OK and that if we all get some overnight we will be safe and warm and ready for it, Take care all, Cheers Lyn xxx.

My machines were very heavy ones.

I would like to try making sausages with ddil not able to have wheat. Normally wheat free are very expensive but mr S has some frozen ones which are not bad and not expensive but it would be nice to have a go at making them. Also I fancy making a vegetarian version.

I made some wheat free fig rolls. I haven't tested one yet but they look good.

Grandma haven't had time to catch up so maybe someone has already posted, but nearly all Marks and Sparks sausages are gluten free, they use pea starch as a binder, and they're not expensive.
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
