    Thanks Kezlou, 2T and Kidcat,
As I write I am reasonably cosy(ok I have my selection of clothes and extra's on)but at certain times of day/night it does get warmer...sometimes when least expected(I did put the heating on a bit:)though at the time I had not seen your posts...

I hate cold feet sometimes no matter what you do to get them warm seems not to work. I could do with something to keep my nose warm sometimes;)though I can always use a scarf. Its not too bad at present.

I have had some soup and coffee too...in fact I awoke a few hours ago and had a snack(I say a snack)but by the time I had finished I had nearly all my calories for today...officially I only have around 400 remaining but if I am hungry I will eat.

It could be a change to the stews/casseroles today...thinking of a good fry up with just about anything you can think of:pjust haven't decided whether to have it for Breakfast or teatime. And I have cupboards full of soup too.

That's a good idea always having flasks full of plenty of hot water etc...for drinks saving on the boiling of a kettle and in case the power goes off too.

I don't need the weather to get worse as I have a big band show to see and I'd it to be cancelled on Saturday. So fingers are crossed.

DD18 has an exam tomorrow and college have said that come hell or high water the exam will run and that they must be there - have asked DS14 to get sledge from loft just in case - I figured we could hitch it to the dog and get her there that way if needs be:rotfl:

DD has an exam on Monday and they have said the same - the exam will run whatever. Her school is around 10 miles away on country roads, but I'm hoping it will have cleared by then. At least hers is in the afternoon so we will know what the situation is to be able to leave early.
I wanna be in the room where it happens

I have visions of them all trying to get there with duvets wrapped around them and tennis racquets tied to their feet.

As important as exams are I do think in circumstances as discussed here they go to extremes and as for the other problem about wearing a coat to go to school that throws me altogether. If they missed school through illness they'd be the first to complain.

I don't remember such a rule when I went to school.

Well, very little snow here contrary to forecasts, so school is open and I have 2 miffed children.

Nothing here but it's not due to hit until a bit later for us. According to friends in the southwest it's there and causing chaos.

DD1 doesn't have college on Fridays so she's still tucked up in bed, DD2 is stomping around moodily about the injustice of having to get up if the school might close at lunch time.

Only ever noticed one tremour here, perhaps 3-4 years ago(I forget exactly)I'd climbed into bed and thought I felt the bed shake and a noice but was unsure. Then the guy on the radio in London said it had been felt there virtually at the time it happened here.

Then reports started coming in from many parts of the country. It was one of the weirdest things I have ever experienced. My dear Mum slept through it. Perhaps I would have had I been in bed sooner. Or if it had woke me up I might not of realised that was why.

I was awake around that time today but missed it if it affected here...

  • Morning Toughies - we definately have snow here and have had for some time. He who knows has taken the lurcher for his morning perambulation and said beasty licked his way down the drive like a kiddie with an ice cream!!! School here in the village must be closed today as I keep seeing small people go past towards the recreation ground with other small children on sleds being towed. I hope they at least can enjoy the day. DD1 who teaches is also home on a snow day as the school has its main body of pupils from quite rural and hilly areas so she will catch up on loads of admin things today, thank heavens for the internet!!! Hope you are all safe and at your destination if you have had to go out, and snug and warm at home if you haven't, stay safe all, Cheers Lyn.

GRANDMA - The suction on the mincer works very well and sticks it rock solidly to the work surface, mine works fine!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.

To cheer you all up, here's the weather report from the Cairngorm Ski Centre -

"Top Station Weather: 60-70mph south easterly (Summit 100mph plus)

Temperature: minus 7 degrees (wind-chill around minus 30 degrees)

Snowing and Drifting at all levels. Ski Road currently closed due to drifting and bad visibility. Unless conditions improve it is unlikely we will run the train or open for snow-sports today."
