Morning everyone, hope everyone is keeping safe and warm. Snow here now, it started about 30 minutes ago properly, although we had flurries through the night.

I am making a huge pot of roasted veg soup as DS2 managed to get home last night and get his hospital appointment first thing this morning, so I think he will be freezing when he gets in as he's using public transport and has a fair walk to do as well.

DH is supposed to be finishing work at 2pm but I think he may have to leave early if this carries on, we get cut off very easily. I note the supermarkets are already running low on their shelves -according to the news. I think we will be ok though, may have to substitute a bit, but I did plan ahead.

    Hello all :)

trying to type with stripey boy cat washing my hands! he is really feeling the cold poor old boy with his arthritic back. I had a half daft idea - do you think he would wear a "cat jumper" of some sort? feel :o to even ask...

_party_:dance: HAPPY BIRTHDAY STILTWALKER! Hope you have a lovely day. Thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes for me - you're all a great bunch :D

No proper snow here though had light flurries this morning and more due after lunch. Heavy snow forecast for tomorrow now. DH texted to say its blizzard like in London, hope he is exagggerating, assuming so otherwise will be concerned for him getting back on the trains.

Feeling quite low today but plodding on regardless. Popped into supermarket for another pack of knee high school socks for boys as only had 5 pairs to share btwn them and have been rinsing them out overnight this week. Now they have a week's supply each. Could feel the old shopping habit feelings surfacing ie. treat myself/everyone else to treaty things because feeling down. Just allowed myself a mag I like and nowt else and decided sod it I will have an hour off after lunch to read it on the sofa. Mags are a rare treat now, about twice a year if that.

Realised have some library books due in tomorrow -either on last borrowing or reserved for another user so will walk round in a minute and hand them in, quick browse and then lunch. We are so lucky to have a little library less then 10 mins walk away and a few shops for basics. Getting burger all done til school run really!

Inflated tyres this morn too - not impressed that 2 new ones were underinflated and only had them fitted last week. hmmmm

good tip for drivers - make sure tyres are properly inflated to help with good grip on icy roads and a blob of bluetack on locks stops them freezing overnight.

Kids had their comfort fleece blankets and a HWB each in the car this morning - aren't I a nice mum today?!

    keep warm and well everyone

Popperwell im glad your keeping warm. In our local shop we have fresh bread delivered, and i was shocked that there was a queue waiting for the delivery today. Lots of elderly folk were getting milk and soup etc.

I was going to visit my dads memorial ( dont like grave, sorry!!) but unfortunatly the oradway down is ungritted and over hung with trees so not somewhere you can walk easily. Im sure he knows i am thinking about him. He would be laughing at the way the press are saying its terrible the weather. i remember going on dads tractor to town to get bread and milk etc for our house and the neighbours. We were one cool family!!!

just catching up with big brother, its reserch for work you understand. We take bets on who will win. Someone hasd to do it lol and i really dont mind :-)

    keep warm x

the supermarket was much busier than usual this morning at 8.30 but plenty of fresh food in. The snow started as I was driving home so pleased to have made it back and can now hunker down. We're SE London/NW Kent so getting it a bit later than the rest of you. So far it's like a dust storm of fine white fluffy microbeads but it is settling. The forecast says it will go on for about 24 hours - the snow equivalent of persistent drizzle from what I can see, but if it does go on that long it will accumulate.

Can just see the excuses from the train companies now as it certainly looks like the wrong sort of snow, ie the dusty sort that can blow into the door closing mechanisms and all the little nooks and crannies on the points
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!

Nutty P, I'm sure that he knows you are thinking of him. My Dad is in a rememberance book at a crem but I/we only managed to go through to see his name and take a walk through the garden rarely. I always feel bad about that but we thought of him as I will again on February 4th, twenty nine years will have passed. Where did that go?

Like you it has often been due to the weather and it is not too easy to reacb by public transport and a taxi would be approx £30 return.

But later this year I am going to have Mum and Dad's name put into a book in the local church which I can see any time and is for now only approx three streets from where I live so will be easier to visit.

But as is often said...they remain within us in our hearts and minds.

I understand you not liking that word. Mum always disliked it when someone said someone was "Dead" because it sounds so final. Died or passed away is less final.

    Thinking of you...

Happy birthday to both of you, SQ and Stilty have a nice day

Nuttyp lovely memories of your Dad, Im sure he would prefer you to think of him like that rather than risk the bad weather, unless you have a handy tractor.

SQ you must be the best Mum, hotties and blankets, I can see your children snuggled up on the way to school in my minds eye with big smiles on their faces.

My cat has snow brain today, in and out like a madman, just found him dive bombing the birds who are munching the food I put out. For a very old cat he certainly moves fast when he has his crazy head on!

Happy Birthday to stiltwalker and savingqueen and hope you have a lovely day. :bdaycake::bdaycake:_party__party_

I agree with everyone else - get some heating on and don't make yourself ill.

Went to supermarket yesterday to get some milk and veg and also picked up a couple of prescriptions for me and dh and posted a parcel for dd. It started snowing as I left the house but stopped after a couple of hours and no sign of snow today so far.

Surprised but pleased when the AF package arrived this morning :j
got cans of soft drinks, bhaji mixes, LL milk, fancy olive oil, chilli sauce, pizza and fajita sauce jars, gravy mixes, laundry capsules, huge roll of foil and lots of chicken and ham stock cubes.

Making onion bhaji as a starter tonight and then marinated chicken or fish with stir fry veg. DH is having home made pie for lunch and me and dd will have a sausage sarnie.

Dough for rolls is in breadmaker so will bake them later today.

    Hug to all

    Afternoon!

Pops but the heating before you go out to take the chill for when you get in!!!! You've been told, now put it on and leave it on!!!! (stern mammy look being shot at you, or as my boys say oh no it the terrible fire breathing dragon :rotfl:)

Its a nightmare outside, ice blocks everywhere. Its really bad, in one place its about 6 inches thick .
Another lovely neighbour saw me coming out and said i'll your little one, ds2 knows her and she's very nice and quietly spoken. He obviously felt safe with so he said yes. Such a relief.

We've had flurries of snow so far, but its just turned to ice.
I want lots of heavy snow by 3pm so i can collect ds2 up from school.
