I see Aldi's have a Singer sewing machine on special for January 24th. Not cheap and I don't do a lot of sewing but knowing what it costs to alter clothes I wonder if it is a silly purchase.

Then again I have learnt the basic whip stitch which I think will do most repairs and alterations...

Got a snow flurry going on here so it looks like it has arrived.

I can't get them on town but I am thinking if I go out a bit early tomorrow(weather permitting)that I may get myself some kelp capsules and ginger capsules. I just feel that I may benefit.

    Happy Birthday Savingqueen and Stiltwalker.

Its cold here, but no snow here yet. Got email from power company saying they are putting our dd up by £16 a month. Last thing I needed now. Got word from the agency that the company that I'd applied to hadn't had a chance to shortlist anyone for the interviews yet. Applied for another load of jobs as well and got one rejection. Then OH gets a message to say they are mucking about with his hours. Which means he now starts at nearly midnight!!!!! This will have a serious knock-on effect on me (as OH can't drive yet) and it means he's working later in the morning so no doubt SS will moan. But decided he either does it and doesn't moan or he can go, I'm pretty much fed up. No job for me, OH work messing him about. Can someone out there send me some luck please?

Tarot quiet as well today, so far done 5p!!!! Grrr.

Happy birthday stilt stalker and sq!

    Mar: real feel temp!!
Sq: Blutak tip duelly noted, appreciated and will be acted upon ;) thank you
Pops: I too dislike the word dead. It's a word that isn't compassionate and has no feeling. I can't ever bring myself to say it.
Kez: hopefully that experience with your mams skeletons will help you in the long run.

Just starti g to snow here although nothing ok severe.

You all might have realised that kezlou has been helping out with the I s and outs of living where I do now. She send me loads of links via Facebook and email, plus text bless here. Yesterday and today she sent me job links that might be relevent and thanks to kez I have called an autistic specialist shool to request an application pack for a lunch time supervisor :) they also require teaching assistants to go on their supply list.

I would have had no idea about the job if it wasn't for kez, thank you!

If I didn't have wheels (tomorrow is pick up day!) then I couldn't go for it so things are slipping into place.

Wish me luck! I seem to be having a real up moment recently...

I have a lovely little gift angel on my bedroom window will that tells me 'wonderful things happen when you smile'. :)

Popperwell - have you tried Freecycle? Its worth a punt as it won't cost you anything and if its just for basic sewing even a hand machine would cope.

Having a lovely day - thanks for all the birthday wishes everyone. Been out to see our home ed friends who sang happy birthday and gave me chocolates and HM cards - lovely people!! DH and the kids got me some lovely curly wensleydale wool tops for my felting and a couple of paperbacks and DH and I are going to have Chinese take out tonight - just lots of different starters though!!! (My fave!)

We have a pretty amount of snow here - left over from the beginning of the week but there are a few flakes falling now so we may get a bit later. For those of you who have more - stay safe and warm. X
  • I just love that you two are helping each other out, it is how life should be and so often isn't!! Good luck with picking the car up tomorrow FUDDLE and also with the job applications too, glad you are feeling so positive, that's lovely!!

KEZLOU glad your lovely neighbour offered to take DS to school for you because of the snow, you don't need to slip and hurt yourself in all this. Love that you and Fuddle are finding so much in common, you are both good folks, bless you both, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Well snowing here, but lightly about 3/4 inch accumulated so far. Spent an amusing 15 minutes or so watching 7 men with 4 show shovels and a lorry trying to work out how to reverse it straight back onto the road, given what they ended up doing was starting it up, putting it in reverse and giving it a go I had assumed it was "stuck" but for the life of me couldn't work out how. Turns out someone had done an "'elf and sayfety" risk assessment and decided it would not move so clearly lots of blokes standing around brandishing shovels was going to make a difference!
T0sco was (apparently) heaving and food was vanishing as if locusts were in the place. every 4x4 in the world is out coz it's snowing plus no snow chains or snow socks in Hellfrauds or other places.
Good for a giggle if nothing else

I got mine yesterday in Li*l, £20 and avalible in 3 size's if that's any help.

I am the complete opposite regarding the word "dead". I can't bear the wording "passed over" or "passed away"...no, they died or they are dead. Maybe it's partly because I can't use euphemisims with my daughter, after all what does "passed away" mean?

The stove is on but the temp in the living room hasn't risen above 16C, the bedroom is 12C...having said that, if it was 18C or 21C it would be postively balmy in here. I'm not cold however, even though I'm just in my PJ's!

    Xmas Saver!
Have had the strangest day. No snow or ice here this morning, so I wore my comfy canvas pumps with thick socks and a thick cardigan, with no coat. (Thinking I would park outside work as normal and run in).

To get to work I have to drive 8 miles mainly over open marsh land.
6 miles into my journey, I have to drive under a bridge, where today, the back of the wardrobe disappeared and I was in Narnia. I have never seen anything like it. No snow on one side and inches of it on the other.

It took me longer to do the last 2 miles than it did the first 6. As I approached work, I saw a car skid quite badly, and knowing what the hill I work on is like, I parked round the corner and walked the rest of the way in.

So at half past 9 I walked into work, covered in snow with no coat and wet feet. Nobody expected me in as they all assumed I would have snow at home, and would not be able to get in.

Am home now,(still no snow) and nobody here can believe how bad it is in the next town. If I hadn't of seen it myself, I don't think I would either.
