Stiltwalker what do you felt? I tried it myself, we'll I shoved a load of will fibres onto a felt square using a needle and piece of polystyrene lol but I feeeeeeel like I tried it.

Hiya Byatt. :) it's a blunt word and says what it means so I completely understand your perspective. I don't like passed way either to be fair. I used died or 'lost her...'

Fuddle - that's needle felting, not tried that yet but Mum lent me her bits to have a go. I do wet felting (using warm soapy water and agitating the fibres) and I make flat pieces of felt that I turn into brooches, I also make beads ad small 'pods' and vessels and at the moment I am making a load of felt fruit and vegetables for DD's birthday - my Dad is making her a market stall to go with them.

Going to have a bit of an experiment with nuno felting too which is using a layer of open textured fabric such as cheesecloth or fine silk and felting that in with the fibres - it makes beautiful scarves.

I opened a folksy shop at the beginning of the year to try and sell some of the jewellery - but only managed to load up 5 things before I got poorly so not had any sales yet but it's early days.

Happy birthday to the birthday girls, I shall raise a glass to you later (any excuse eh?)

No snow here, not a single flake. But it's coming, Ive got static which is a sure sign. Think I nearly shorted the house when I tried to plug the toothbrush into charge.

DD1 has against my warning gone off for the night to a friends and they are going to France on the ferry tomorrow. She knows the risks and I've shown her how windy the channel is supposed to be but she wants an adventure. Luckily she's very sensible (as are the two she's going with) and they've taken euros/sterling and have spare money on debit cards for a hotel it required. I'm secretly praying they can't get to the port in the morning (bad mummy).

As for beards, I love them, but only on the right person and neatly trimmed. DH can't shave himself so I get to keep his trimmed and I'm so tempted to shave rude words in it sometimes. Nothing nicer than a handsome man with a bit of stubbly loveliness.

Unixgirl - hugs. Hang in there with the job hunting and everything. Feel your pain with energy co. We switched ours recently and had a big end of contract bill plus much higher d/debits for new co and I couldn't match the last deal so all in all pants! Hope you're due for some good luck soon.

Own My Own glad you got into work ok and are home again safely now.

Byatt - I am the same for using dead/died - those were the words I was bought up with and feel more real for me. I feel uncomfortable using the alternatives but then am more aware as I've got older that some people prefer different words so try not upset them. I am fine talking about anything on the subject of death but DH is the opposite eg. he knows exactly what sort of funeral etc I want (no religious element for a start) but he refuses to tell me what he would want which I find difficult as his next of kin and fact he has mixed views on the religion he was bought up in. Anyway hope I haven't offended or upset anyone.

Some good news to share! DH passed his 2nd (of 6) exams last night. He feels disappointed his marks weren't higher as he put so much effort and hard work in but he still passed at the end of the day and I am very proud of him indeed. Tutor said she was pleased he out of everyone passed. He has taken it as her being condescending (as he has really struggled so far) but I said maybe she was praising him for his hard work.

Also I have a place on the interview skills course so very very pleased. Think it is going to be a tough one and something I already feel nervous about - goodness knows how I will cope with the real thing! But one step at a time eh?

we have a little snow here - so pretty like sugar frost.

I tried the cat jumper thing thanks for the encouragement (sorry forgot who replied to my question :o) but stripey cat was not amused but he did use the old school top as a bed - even though I have already made the cats a sofa/bed of their own with several old baby blankets topped with their Xmas pet rugs on top of a big cushion from old sofa placed on a trunk in living room.

Really mst go and cook tea - so tired today, will have to be something from the freezer, have a couple of homemade ready meals so no probs there.

Pooky - I will join you! I have a mini bottle of wine chilling in the fridge for later.

"Nothing nicer than a handsome man with a bit of stubbly loveliness." I agree - DH shaves his beard off from time to time (and it feels lovely ;)) but then I love the stubbly look on him, he still has lots of lovely wavy dark hair and blue eyes, my dream man! Funny before I met him I would never date anyone with facial hair and DH was clean shaven when we met.

ps I don't like the captain birds eye look (no offence to the "fuller bearded man"!)
