Do you think that maybe all these January birthdays are what makes them toughies :D

    Happy Birthday!

Snow here, only ones on our street to clear and grit our driveway, and the footpath in front of house! Nothing like community spirit here!

Not bothering to clean our drive off as we're due another big dump tomorrow. What we have isn't melting, it's very powdery and no good for snowmen.....the kittens have enjoyed bounding through it though.

Really feeling the cold today, the kitchen was 6 degrees this morning, popped the heater on to warm it and it's now up to 14 but won't go any higher. Heating is on in the rest of the house (on low - we don't have a thermostat just low,1,2,3,4 and high) and I'm just about to light the fire. The temperature seems to have dropped rapidly in the last half hour.

It's a good excuse to pop a DVD on and snuggle on the sofa with some sewing and choccy.

:D Look at it positively, Mar; keeps him out from under your feet for a while.:rotfl:

Happy Birthday, kittie. Gobsmacked at how many on this thread were born in January. I'm sure it's an anomaly. Perhaps someone could research if being born at cold times of the year makes you more likely to enjoy an OS lifestyle?

Well, it's no dafter than some of the things being researched out there in the halls of academe.

Pooky, I decided to stage a planned fall off the no-chocolate diet and treated myself to a bar and am gonna watch it now with another tranche of the DVD telly series I've rented and a pot of tea. I may even get the snuggly fleece rug off my bed, because it's in keeping with the season.

Keep warm and sweetied-up, if there's a prolonged cold snap we may have to reabsorb our spare tyres to keep going. I shall be going further than most, I suspect.:p

I'm a summer baby and still like to live the OS lifestyle. But I have sinned, have wasted two tomatoes and an onion this week. However, I have used the last of the carrots I bought for 50p per kilo before Xmas today (best before date 18 Dec) and there was still nothing wrong with them, flipping dates.
Spend less now, work less later.
  • Hey FUDDLE I hope you picked the car up OK. So pleased for you, no more rainy or snowy walks to and from school and all the road crossing gone too, can only be to the good eh? Hope you enjoy the freedom little one, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Quiet one for me today. I've been trying to keep as much switched off as I can as SP have put my dd up by £16. its the elec thats pushed it up so will have to work to bring it back down.

Another rejection yesterday :(. I just hope I get a job soon. My birthday on monday. OH is taking me for a meal tomorrow, back to the restaurant where we had our first date. We'll be using vouchercloud to make it a bit cheaper! :p.

It was quite busy on tarot last night and managed to do £25 of readings. Finally went to bed just after 1am and was back up at half six to pick up OH (expecting heavy snow and we only had a light dusting). OH's work have given notice to some of the workers. :(. Just hoping OH will be ok. Once home I went back to sleep for a few hours. OH is still sleeping. Made myself some pasta for lunch (with a blob of butter, black pepper and a little parmesan, recommended by someone on here) and I thoroughly enjoyed it. I found a huge cherry scone in the freezer, so I'll have that later with some butter.

No more snow here yet. It started snowing a little while ago but its not come to anything. Candles are on and heating is on down low. Does anyone know if I run the heating down low (i.e. 15-16C) is that cheaper than running it for say 4-5 hours at 20C?
