Lisakay, thats terrible, just told Ds about it and he says its a regular trick for Wonga to do that, they seem able to do what they want - he works in debt management and has had clients getting a grip with their debts and finally seeing something for all their work then their accounts get emptied and bu**ers everything up.
Am sat here wrapped in a blanket as the storage heaters werent on quite high enough last night and its 15 deg in the living room. The cats are driving me mad as they keep running out through the cat flap for a quick piddle and the flaps not shutting properly after them. then they urgently need to go upstairs to bed and someone has shut the door - dirty looks heading my way.
Going to spend a few days tucked up in the house trying to keep OH well, he is reacting badly to the cold but is also very frustrated with his lack of mobility and illness - tbh is driving me mad but I just grit my teeth and get on with it.Clearing the junk to travel light

Ginny, i could almost understand if i owed them money, but we've never even applied for a payday loan (with anyone, not just them) let alone had one agreed.
i asked for a temporary extension of our od limit to see us through until it gets refunded, but if it was agreed it may not be applied before monday so decided not to add an extra credit check to our records.
re; burgers. my girls have heard it on the news and asked what horse tastes like, they would like to try it. they've also asked if we can eat dora and diego (our pet rabbits) when they die and have asked if we boiled marley's (the dog) bones could we make jelly out of him!! strange kids i have! and i'm veggi!
i have no problem with horse/rabbit, well most meat, for other people, but it should absolutely be labelled properly.freecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
/Some much posted since I was last on...bound to forget something or someone.
Frightening about the bank...well, I've so little they'd be disappointed here...like GQ I like cash and tbh all I buy is food, bus fares and an odd ticket for a show.
The bank is only used for DD's to pay the gas/electric and internet.
OK it's late, last bus home...from concert of The Happy Cats they were great and such a varied selection of songs where would I start to try and give examples? The main guy used to be in the group Lindesfarne...we had Irish folk songs, British folk songs, popular songs, some not so well known...a wonderful night.
Coincidence(maybe/probably)but how strange that two songs I associate with Mum, one was sung at the live music event I was introduced to by my friend on here who lives on the same town yesterday and the other tonight. Is someone watching over me?
As late as it is I microwaved a meal(A kind of shepherd's pie)leek, bacon, chicken topped with mashed potato when I came home and I feel lovely inside and it has warmed me up. Having said that, I don't remember seeing any leek or bacon!
By its been a cold one tonight even with thermals, gloves and socks on and was an is icy fog out there by the return home...but I am tucked up in bed and quite cosy...
You could be right about eating something at bedtime GQ;)
Must have a think about the OU courses and pets, thanks for the ideas.
Wishing all sweet dreams and better times to come as some are still seeing some difficult situations.
So many deserve hugs on here especially where families are concerned so if you have a close relationship you are blessed, if not and can keep your distance and avoid the baggage and have peace that is a blessing too, you don't need that eating away or adding to other problems. I guess it is so true when they say "You can't choose your relatives"
Oh and Lisa(forgive me if I am wrong)but I think you said Mum wasn't too well, wishing her well and hoping things are not as bad as feared. And that goes for Kidcats Uncle(?)I think I have that right. Thinking of you Ginny.
Being cold isn't fun(whilst adding some extra bits to this post, I spotted yours)I had to get up briefly a few minutes ago and had to put my hat and scarf on(indoors)and if it stays this way I'll add a HWB too.
May add the electric blanket today...if it uses only a little energy and switch it on occasionally. I prefer the cold often more than being too warm but when it is my choice."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Your last point is what matters most. As for your girls:rotfl:You know...catch them young enough and most Children(I dislike the term kids)are quite matter of fact and often not as scared or sensitive on such things and are curios of the world they live. And we are torn between the images often in stories and films of some animals and the next eating them. And if we have a pet we try to distance ourselves from one to the other.
Dare I say its not so much what other cultures choose to eat, more how quickly it is done to save suffering. And some countries may not have the abundance of some animals(not forgetting religious/cultural differences)
Some will think we are strange as we do them...If things continue as they are rabbit could very well be back on the table(and prices will rise too)Funnily enough I think I would like to try mutton but it seems difficult to come by. The best I can get is lamb and mutton mince in Tesco's. Not on its own though."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Kidkat - hope your back is on the mend, same for your Uncle, you've got a lot on your plate, make sure there's time for a 5 mintue sit down just for you at some point (easier said than done, I know)
Lisa - if the bank is sending details to its fraud department then they normally have an in branch "pot" that they can replace your money from for now. Something similar happened twice to a friend of mine and both times the account was suspended, a duplicate account was set up by the bank with the amount of money in (Pre fraud issue) and when it was all sorted the branch claimed the money back from head office. Hope you get it sorted soon.
We've woken up to about half an inch of snow and thick fog......we've christened it "snog", made us chuckle. Had to defrost the car at 6.30pm to get DD1 to work then again at 9.30 to collect her from work, it was so bitterly cold it gave me instant earache and the window scraping set off my carpal tunnel. Nice.
DD1 has a driving lesson in half an hour, that will be fun, she's done ice but not snow and she's not done fog yet. It really is the best time of year to learn to drive as you get to experience a bit of everything.
DH has his @t0s assessment next week, they're doing a home visit and this will be the 14th attempt at actually doing it (they've cancelled 12 appointments, we went to one and the recording equipment failed and they sent us home and we had to cancel one due to it clashing with an appointment with his consultant) the weather forecast for the weekend and into next week suggests we might not be able to get in or out of the village so I'm guessing that appointment will have to be rescheduled too. So annoying as he wants the assessment, not the hassle of it hanging over him for another month.
ETA - I wouldn't have a problem eating horse it's purely the labelling issue that's my concern. DH is severely allergic to fish/shellfish so I try and keep everything as natural and unprocessed as possible as the amount of things they use anchovies/fish stock in is hard to keep up with. If I buy something that is made of several ingredients I expect the packaging to reflect the contents. Whilst I appreciate this is a so called supplier issue, how long has it been going on for, how many times per week/month do these companies test the product to check what's in there? I have a mincer, (£10 from the r@nge) it's fab. I make my own burgers from butchers mince, he minces it in the shop, not out the back and I can then add oats or breadcrumbs to it as I want.

Morning all.
Just phoned the parents about the weather expected on Firday (day of Nan's hospital appt) and they and she were discussing it last night. They were very concerned about their car getting stuck and Nan getting very cold.
It's agreed she's not going; ringing hosp today to cancel. Not ideal but I am sure that they'll understand about the weather.
Them not all being out in the snow tomorrow is such a weight off my mind, can't express how happy it makes me. Today is officially a Good Day now.:)
Pops, I heard a sheep farmer interviewed on the radio and they were discussing mutton and how out of favour it is with the general run of the British population. It is however popular in certain ethnic communities; do you have a halal butcher in your area, thinking they might have it?
I have a vivid memory of being around a friend's who was cooking mutton and the stench of it was making me want to throw up, and it had to be regularly skimmed of it's fat. I consider it to be vile stuff.
I have eaten horse abroad and was neither over nor underwhelmed by it, but it was a steak and I knew what I was doing. It's fraudulent to sell something as beef if it it isn't and potentially life-threatening for some individuals with allergies to mislabel food. Worrying times.
That said, if I had any in my freezer, I'd just eat them.
Hokay, time's moving on, better get my rear in gear. There are grit box replenishment phone calls awaiting my attention, I'm sure.Every increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

Morning all! Lisakay i really hope they sort your money quickly. I had fraud 3 months in a row on my bank account 18 months ago. The first two times i only caught it the day after so i had to wait several days for the money to be refunded. The third time i caught it on the day and they just reversed the transaction instantly so no dleay gettiing my money back. I still opened a new account though!
Thinking about the meat issue, i regard cats and dogs as pets therefore not food. chickens, cows, pigs and sheep are food animals. horses i had to think a little more about but i suppose they come under working/sport animals for me so not usually food but could be food.
Work wise i had some news yesterday. I was asked to cover the tower blocks in the next road to me. So little one and i will be working closer to home - it takes two minutes to walk to nearest tower block compared to 15 minutes to walk to nearest road on my territory. We will also be a lot warmer inthis weather!:j0 -

Perhaps not then:rotfl:but I saw a programme in the Great British Food Revival series and naturally they made it look tempting. Bit thin on the ethnic score which is a pity...if I was nearer a big cityl...I think Durham, Newcastle or Middlesborough are the best bet but that adds to the cost with fares etc...and getting it home...on a bus too."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. LISA I am stunned that the bank would allow that to happen unchecked. I do so hope you get it sorted out, it's outrageous that they were able to access your account when you have had no dealings whatsoever with them!!! We had an issue just after christmas when we checked the bank statement and found that someone had used the details of the credit card we only use for paypal and spent nearly £500 in John Lewis with it. Luckily we were able to raise it with the bank and they have now returned it to our account and investigated the incident. I just feel that nowhere financial is safe these days, my debit card was cloned and used to take almost £1,000 a couple of years age and although we did report it to the police and I'm certain I know how it was done (distraction tactics at a cash point using a small child to constantly run up to me and calling it back repeatedly) I will now only use a cash point inside a bank rather than risk it happening again. Luckily that was investigated and the money returned too, but it is just so unsettling when it happens. Hope yours is sorted out quickly, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
