Stranger things happen at sea Lyn. 'Tis good news
Kez I had no idea you were in so much pain. no wonder you were down last night x
I too succumbed to celeb BB last night. For the past few years I wouldn't watch it but I've been very down lately and actually quite bored. I thought a bit mindless escapism wouldn't hurt.
Little one wa hallucinating last night so not good. I 'slept' on her floor to keep an eye on her. She seems a little better today so hopefully it has peaked.
LL playing ball officially with deposit scheme. He's still refusing the full amount back but I have claimed £100 that he doesn't want. DPS say he still has to ok that and it could take days. The sooner this process is over with the better. Also had a text from him saying he wants us to pay the standing charge for the gas and electricity while its vacated. His reasoning being that it was us that choose a provider who bills standing charges so we shoul pay even after the tenancy has ended. I just laughed at that one. Surely that can be right. He predicts we'll be billed approx £20 per month until someone takes up residency! He can't legally do that can he? I'm not letting it upset me though.0 -
Mrs L, I think I'd have said to close the till and cash up then and there while I waited. Even though you had a bus pass, your time is not limitless or valueless and why should you have to wait until they deign to give you back your own money?
Feel quite stroppy on your behalf!!It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Well done Mrs LW - for future reference if anyone has this problem again you can request they close the till cash up and deal with it while you wait if you push, its what they are supposed to do, pain in the neck for them though so they will try to wiggle, however if you contacted trading standards or even head office to request travel expenses you would be told be both that you are entitled to your money whilst you wait.
My old manager would not ever cash up mid way through a day however he recognised he was in the wrong for it and always delivered the money himself end of day, usually with a small box of chocolates too.
Its been a busy time here but nothing really appears to have been done, we took kids to a playbarn yesterday for a party put on by a local group, it was badly run and the food ended up being given in two sittings, meaning that my lot were fed at 8.10pm, much too late and I will not be participating again.
Having run very low on plates again we headed to Ikea for breakfast and some shopping this morning, was manic busy as it was free breakfast, but we got our stuff in the end. Bumped into some friends and the kids just enjoyed wandering about trying the sofas and beds.
Kezlou - you really need to push for the pain management clinic, my GP promised to refer me once my tests were all done, but I havent been able to go back yet. Tramadol is hit and miss for me and I find that for back pain they are useless and often make me ill too. Co-codamol is highly addictive though so be careful. There is nothing worse than constant pain though its so wearing.0 -
Fuddle no he cant, he can contact the supplier and arrange to switch tariff from std charge to non std charge if its a problem for him. You need to make sure you have closed your accounts with the supplier and stopped any DD though just in case.
I too watched Celeb BB last night, having given it up years ago, I cant see me sticking with it though but it was something to watch whilst I was picking new house phones!0 -
No he can't charge you that Fuddle, unless of course it was in your tenancy agreement.
Savingqueen - I have a yeast intolerance that gives me chronic indigestion, I've only got to sniff a bit of bread and it sets me off. Horrible pain, hope it passes soon.
Mrs LW - glad you got your money back, I'd have stood there and demanded they cash the till up there and then.
Kez - hope you're taking care of yourself x
Had a lovely win on the premium bonds again today, it's set to go towards next months mortgage OP, yay!
Had a local couple come round today who have a reupholstery business, asked them to come check our sofas out as the springs seemed to be sagging. They had them stripped down, fixed and put back together in just over an hour and it only cost us £70. It's like sitting on a brand new suite, money well spent and should prolong the life of the sofas for a good few years."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -

Even if it is the tenancy agreement it goes against tenancy laws and is therefore unenforceable - you will notice he hasnt even attempted to take it from your deposit, because he knows they wont even entertain it. He is a profiteering pirate, thankfully the deposit scheme are considerably better to deal with.0 -
I have close of accounts confirmation in my possession and as British gas supply this house I was able to just carry on with my direct debit to them. Not a word of it in the tenancy agreement. He likes chancing his luck! Hey, he might be scared of me now... Texting not calling haha, doubt it.
Off to bake shortbread. Strictly mammy only today though what with sniffles and sneezes.
Cannot wait to get back into a routine, or rather start my new one. Has anyone had any dealings with 5-htp? It's meant to be a natural seretonin booster?0 -
Hey FUDDLE how is the little poorly one now, I hope she's feeling better. Your ex LL is a complete nightmare, well done you for keeping your cool and keeping your distance. He is a brainless, greedy, grasping fool I'm so very glad you have your new home and aren't beholden to him any longer. Power to your elbow little one!!!!
Thanks everyone for being pleased at my success. I'm sure it was a mistake and nothing more by the cashier who was very pleasant this morning. I don't mind the time aspect, but I wanted to flag up that some folks would struggle to have paid the not inconsiderable bus fares twice in a week if they were not lucky enough to have a bus pass.
We are having problems with our broadband at the moment, it keeps dropping out and then it takes ages and loads of tries to reconnect. It's driving me insane, well, more so than normal!!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Mrs L, I had that with my broadband, turned out the neighbour's was transmitting on a similar channel and it was interfering. BT reset the channel for me to the other main channel they use but it still kept doing it. So I went into the router settings myself and changed the channel to a more obscure one and that fixed itIt doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0

Grandma 247 thanks for all those comments on my original posting about gluten free. When I cook biscuits or cakes I use Dove's farm flour, I find it the most reliable and it does make lovely baked goods. It also makes the best Yorkshire puddings I have ever made...light as a feather and tasty! People love eating the home made gluten free stuff and most would never know it is gluten free unless they were told. My home made gluten free pizza was to die for but now I am getting all my carbs from veggies and fruit to lose some body fat so I won't be making any for a while.
I don't like adding xanthan gum to gluten free flour when baking, like they advise, as it has a very strange flavour to it in my opinion...it tastes like too much baking soda has been added to the mixture. Other people commented on it so I stopped using it.
One thing I found that works great is adding a scoop of protein powder to the cakes and muffin mixture..it makes them light and fluffy and more moist. Because gluten free baking can go dry or stale quickly I let things cool then freeze them in boxes. I just defrost them for use . If anything gluten free needs refreshing you can give it a few seconds in the microwave...this works great with gf wraps and bread as well.
I freeze home made gf bread in slices as I eat very little, maybe a couple of slices a week at the most. My bread maker has a gluten free setting but I find the normal setting gives a better result. I make brown seed bread, fruit loaf and banana bread and now and again olive bread with cheese and onion (the smell of that one baking is just amazing!).
I heard that a very cold spell, possibly with snow is expected to hit Europe and the UK as early as the end of next week so I have restocked with healthy food and lots of fuel to keep us warm and dry.
Aching from the gym, I started back this morning after the holidays. Pleased to say I have already lost 1.5 kg in weight on the healthy eating plan. I also feel much more energetic and my metabolism seems to have been boosted back to life so I am very pleased. Love to all.... have a great weekend.“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0
