Wow Mrs LW glad it worked out but you have more patience than me, I'd not have left the shop and there would be gradually more and more steam coming out of my ears.
No rain here but it looks like there will be. I have extra children coming today and not really looking forward to it - DD's friend is rude and prone to stroppiness and I know there will be trouble as she doesn't really enjoy the same things as DD. Still, it will be nice for the children to have someone to play with. HM pizza for lunch I think.
Our window cleaners charge £10 which is beginning to sound like a lot, but is normal for round here for a 4 bed house. He's a parent at school so I wouldn't feel right changing him for someone else anyway, he's lovely. Frankly without him the windows wouldn't be cleaned, the upstairs at least.
Flylady must be having some effect on me - I shined my sink before I went to bed last night!

    Morning all

A day of tidying and laundry for me. Kids still in bed but have the dentist at 11.40. DS needs to have his front tooth crowned and I am not sure at which point the drill and injections come into it. Not looking forward to that as he has a fear of the dentist.

I am going to catch up on all the R4 programmes I have missed in the last week - ISIHAC, front row quiz of the year, food programme and the Archers. Should help the cleaning / tidying go with a swing :D

Right next load ready for the washing line..
I wanna be in the room where it happens

Well I have put a load of delicates on to wash with strict instructions that when DH gets up to cancel the rinse hold and then wait till it drains before removing said items and hanging them up straight away. He really needs to do this as they are silk stuff I have and if they are not hung to drip dry then the creasing is dreadful and in some cases I can't get the clothes looking good even after careful ironing. Some stuff has been waiting a while to be washed as I knew I was going to get more from other outfits I had planned to wear and wanted to maximise the load. As it is dry out these can go on the line, even if they don't completely dry there today the main part of wet will be off them!! Can't afford to lose these clothes as they are posh stuff for going out to family dos and so on with.

Day 3 of reeducating food habits plan 2013 started - porridge and fruit for breakfast.

Not MSE but nice small earner have discovered banking for work needs doing and I have to actually visit bank too so will get paid the mileage there and back this lunchtime!!! It all adds up.

Christmas decs coming down tomorrow and a clean of the living room will ensue - TBH it is clean and tidy we only have a tree and one motorbike riding rock n roll Santa on the windowsill - I did the DEEP clean before all decorations went up.

Mending pile has 2 items - replaced exploded button on jeans ( you know how these are a stud with a pressed on button part - well the two parts came adrift and the iron flicked the flat button part across the room like a tiddly wink! The other is a stitch on a cuff with a turn back - nothing major.

    Morning everyone :)

My insomnia has hit again and I'm fed up of being wide awake at 5am and not being able to keep my eyes open at 2pm. I am in the shop this afternoon and I can see a few hours of dropping things, tripping over and general mayhem ahead.

I have been asked to make birthday cakes for each volunteer at the shop by the manager (Just a simple sponge cake) and she has said she will pay for them but i have no idea what to charge her. It's difficult to work out the cost of the ingredients and energy used and I don't want to come across as making money out of her. I'm making a walnit cake with maple icing for one of the volunteer's at the moment, but she asked for that before the manager and I had spoken properly about it. Is it ok to say "Just pay me what you want"?
This is why I hate charging people for cakes, but I can't afford to just give them away. Some of the people they are for I have never met as we work different days.

I'd better go and get dressed and try to find some of my mojo. Personally I think I pushed it out with DS2 *yawns*

    Be well everyone xxx

What I've done is to sit down with a pen and the internet, and log on to Mr T's food shopping. It gives you the price per 100g of most of your ingredients, and it's fairly simple to make a list of your staples...Flour 100g, Sugar, butter etc...and once you've made a list of the 100gs it's fairly easy to run through each recipe with it. Make sure you include stuff like vanilla essence as that is quite pricey, and I usually allow 25p for each egg, which is the price of them free range from the local supplier, so if they are my eggs or free range from Aldi i'm in profit. I use Mr T's prices, but get lots in Aldi too..so there's a few more pence for me in that.

I don't usually allow for the electric seperately, as I figure it's probably less than £1. So for example the massive chocolate cake I cooked at the weekend for a customer cost me £8 in ingredients, including the icing, and I delivered it to her, so I charged her £20, which seemed about right. It was an 8" square, about 5" high, two layers, choc buttercream in the middle, and a choc ganche on the top, I just decorated it with white choc star sprinkles. It took me about an hour to make in total (the standing over it bit!) I could have probably charged a bit more, but she's a good customer.

    HTH.

Sorry for whining everyone, i was a right state with all the pain killers. Tramadol is just one of the pain killers i react badly with. When i'm on them i feel like my chest is closing, i go all hot and vomit. My OH had a ong chat with me last night regading pain killers, i wanted his opinion on them. So i've decided that im just going to stick with co-codomol for now. The reason being i was still in agony with tramadol, so theres no point taking it and feeling sick at the same time. If that makes sense.

Thanks about the info regarding the pain clinic i'll speak to the GP about it on Wednesday.
Daft thing is i could cope with the pain before, its just recently. what frustrates me more is not being able to walk, i miss walking in the yard with my youngest while he investigates. Very soon we'll be investigating, i know it!

pops nice to see you up and about, i was wondering where you were:)

lynn - i'd have been fuming if that happened to me. At least they were honest enough to call you.

uni - i'd have thrown him out by now the cheeky little get:mad:. My little bro's the same, totally spoilt. His attitude is starting to change but not much.

Our christmas dec's are gone and done, the cats aren't happy, keep whining where the tree used to be. Well they'll just have to wait till net year :rotfl:

sorry to hear about your pain Kezlou. :(

I am sitting here doubled up with severe indigestion, never really suffered til the last year or so and only every few months though getting more frequent. I was so tired last night and we had lots of cheese and crackers left so DH and I had those instead of a cooked dinner... plus cheese straws... and a few crisps... then icecream :o also forgot I had a cheese sandwich for lunch yesterday. today had 4 slices of homemade bread and jam. Am I paying the price now, have learnt my lesson and decided no more using up Xmas food and proper healthy eating and exercise plan. That is it for me. Meant to be getting DH's prescription for painkillers, taking kids to town and doing housework etc but can hardly move. Hope DH has enough tablets to last over weekend.

trying to distract myself on here til pain goes, DS8 looking at me with a worried face bless him.

    sq:)
  • Woohoo - I got my £10 back!!!!!! No problem except the manager wasn't available so the check out girl just gave me a note from the till. I asked if they would have paid the bus fare if I hadn't had the bus pass and she wouldn't answer that, just said I would have to ask the manager, who wasn't available. I hoped I would be able to at least flag up how much bus fares cost these days, and that the mistake was entirely theirs but no go. Still every cloud as they say, and I walked past the fishmonger on my way back to the bus stop and he had fresh pheasants for £1.99 each so I got two for the freezer, that is much cheaper than chicken and much nicer. They were delivered to him yesterday so nice and fresh. Result!! Cheers Lyn xxx.
  • Sorted out the freezer this morning and made a list of its contents. I have done this before when meal planning but have never kept the list up to date for long, especially if other family members have been cooking or the list has gone missing. I have bought a white board and have listed the freezer contents on it. Will ask OH to put it on the wall above the freeze this weekend so that it is handy for everyone to use.

If this works I will be using the same method for my food stores in the garage. They have been run right down and I am planning to start to build then up beginning next month.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

Glad you got your money back MrsLW. :jIts the principle as much as the money.
I would have been so annoyed but having said that the workers in our local store work very hard for their money, have to stack shelves, sweep etc in between serving on tills and most are helpful and very friendly - I wonder if they have to make up any shortfalls in the tills? Wouldn't surprise me.
