Fuddle that actually makes me wonder if your landlord is a few sandwiches short of a picnic. You're well shot of him for sure and the advice others have given is right.

And you're right to laugh - the only appropriate response, in my view! Hope your littlies are feeling better now. I've had this virus for four weeks now and am finally feeling much better, but still not 100%. Some of these bugs do linger on, but the youngins seem shake them off quicker thankfully.

I've had a productive day tackling the washing mountain and getting my clothes ready for work. One very good reason for losing weight is that I find it increasingly hard to find clothes that look ok on me now - I seem to be wearing the same things all the time at the moment (my "very fat" clothes).

Tomorrow I will finish clearing off the treadmill and get it set up for regular use, and plan meals for when I'm back at work (Monday). I stand a better chance of losing weight if I get the eating at work right - for the past year I've slipped badly and ate whatever I wanted - which was always junk and extremely high calorie stuff.

For now though, more washing and a nice chilled evening with the TV and internet

No rain but a bit cloudy here today, I went outside to one of the hens gates, had to take old hinges off and replace with new, got fed up with the dam gate dragging on the ground everytime I went through it

This time I put a brick under it so its at least 3 inches off the ground......:) Done that at 8 before I let the hens out otherwise hens would have been out every where....Cleaned my back porch out, just really needed a bit of a tidy and good sweep out......

Then I decided to take all the bird feeders down and take them to bits and give them a good wash out, helps keep the germs down, refilled them once dried out...............

I dont pay for a window cleaner and never have, I do it myself in my own time, if my body aches then I have another go the next day, it get done in the end.......

kezlou sorry to hear of your troubles ,hope they sort themselves out before too long .....................

Do anyone else notice that the nights are slowly pulling out each night.?..Love to see it , I know im only talking like 7 minuets per night, but at least its happening....:TSheila .

Sheila - its true they are slowly getting lighter:j:j

Had to pop into Ald! earlier, shop was decimated and there was very little available, very little veg or fruit next to no meat at all. I cant understand why this is so, its a few days since New Year so they should have had deliveries.

Sheila, isn't it great? I love solstices, they're a natural time to celebrate and give you reassurance that seasons have their time and won't last forever (though this winter with all it's rain already seems to have gone on forever!!)

Anyhoo I have noticed those few minutes too, and even if it doesn't stop raining at least it'll be lighter!

Kidkat, we have two Aldis within a mile of each other - we all thought when the "big" one opened the smaller one would close, but they say there are no plans to close it. They stock slightly differently, and sometimes one is badly understocked while the other isn't - doesn't really make any sense but I guess their delivery system is a bit odd.

Yes, I noticed it was much lighter tonight when I went to close the curtains to keep the heat in better. It's a step in the right direction if I am going to have to use fewer lights in the early evening.

There are no window cleaners here in Greece, you either clean your own or wait till the rain washes them clean. I think someone could make a fortune setting up franchised window cleaning rounds. It won't be me, I am terrified of heights, although I do manage to clean the upstairs outside windows by leaning out of them...I just don't look down!

I went to two supermarkets and there were shelves that were empty. I wondered if there had been transport problems then I realised they had removed most of the Christmas stuff instead of selling it off cheaply. They have a nasty habit of moving everything round here so you can never find the thing you want. Sales were down nearly 17 percent before Christmas so the government have ordered them to have a five week sale from 16th January. It won't do any good, if people have any money left at all they are spending it on food and firewood. Very sensible of them.

  • kidkat, I have been to our local Aldi this afternoon and there was loads of fruit, veg and meat but not many shoppers.

This will be a really tight month for us as OH will not get paid until the end of the month and of course he was finished from his previous job in December so we have to make my December wages really stretch. Hence the big freezer sort out and the meal planning. We also need to give DD2 some money to go back to uni with this weekend. We will be alright for meat and fish, and I have enough flour and yeast to keep us in bread for the month. There are plenty of potatoes carrots and onions stored in the garage and sprouts, kale, cabbage and parsnips at the allotment. So all that I really need to get each week is milk, eggs cheese, cereal and crisps for pack up.

This will be a tough moth for the VP's but I am sure we will cope.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

Mrs VP - I always find it easier if there is light at the end of the tunnel IYSWIM, you know your OH will have a job again and this is a temporary bother, so its easier to cope with :) You will cope great either way because you can :)

You're more then well stocked to cope mrs vp. You'll be fine. Sometimes I like it when it's like that. I like the challenge element and the watching of every penny. That's the light at the end of the tunnel bit. When its that way for an unforeseeable time it's horrible. :( has anyone see the sun's big smile TV advert with the little girl singing about January. I thought it was brilliant... Until I realised it was for The Sun that is.

I found the 5:2 diet book monnagran. £1.02 for kindle. Off to make us a cuppa and a read.

DH also laughed at silly landlord. I dunno about a sandwich short of a picnic but definitely in his own little world of right and wrong. I honk he's just ignorant of any tenancy law and thinks its his property so he should be able to do as he wish. He really hasn't a clue. In the space of three years he's rented without electrical certificate. The house wasn't earthed for the first year we lived there, and needed rewiring while we lived in it. He let the gas safety check lapse for 6 months and even then the boiler was condemned when he did get it sorted. He gets his dad in to do all the repairs and he's just not qualified (the electrician who rewired got a zap because he had fiddled with something he shouldn't). I was so appreciative of finding somewhere to live at the time and, as you all know, thought we had no other choice but to stay there. The hung is we may have been down financially but that doesn't change a person intelligence, her demeanour, her expectation of things being done correctly. Having no money doesnt make you any less a person in society, especially when you have grounded values. Living there has worn me out.

Right cuppa and diets, have a lovely evening everyone x

It was me who thought it looked good...but I haven't looked at it.

Book people had it for 4,99 plus postage, but Amazon have it for seven which was a whisker cheaper!
