Come and join us on the Old Style Weight Loss Thread - we are a very friendly bunch and OS is the way we lose weight x
I shall work my nerve up to that. I have found the scales. 16st. OMG, I'm 5' 11" but that's still a good 4.5 stones OTT.
I've been kidding myself for a long time about this.:o
Never mind, I can't attribute it to anything other than gluttony or blame it on anyone else. Well, perhaps Cadburys et al.:rotfl:
Stiltwalker, great news about your little ones' progress today. You and OH must be bursting with pride. May 2013 get ever better.
Hokay, going to bobble around the interweb and distract myself from the horrors of my lardy-self. Laters, GQ xxEvery increased possession loads us with a new weariness.

I'm watching a repeat of hairy bikers dieting ATM - One of them just said he felt like he was wearing a gilet, full of lard :rotfl:
I need to loose about three stone. Going to be tough, as I have to cook, and taste food for a living now

I have weighed myself today
having not done so for many months. I have joined the OS weight loss thread and confessed my sins (and the need to loose just over 3 stone).
Have just caught the end of the Hairy Bikers and must say that lasagna looked great. I am making a curry from scratch tomorrow using spices and tinned toms as the base to keep the calories down.
Mr VP starts his new job tomorrow :j. I have got the rest of the week off work. The girls and I are taking the decorations down tomorrow and if my back holds out I will give downstairs a clean. The girls are out with their gran for the day on Thursday and I will have the day to myself. I think I will do a freezer and cupboard inventory as we need to tighten the purse strings. I still can not work extra shifts which I was doing to help DD put with cost of living expenses at uni so we are having to find it from our usual income. This will be a bit of a challenge.I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Myfitnesspal.com is a good weight loss tool. It's free to use and it's database has most foods in it. I like it because you input your exercise and get extra calories to eat to make sure you're not eating too little. We did laugh over one of the exercises though. It's a walking speed and says in brackets (brisk dog walk). My sister has three dogs and says there is no such thing as a brisk dog walk as one of them is always stopping to sniff something :rotfl:
I hope 2013 is kind to you all. I have talked the house elf into a trip to the garden centre tomorrow to look at the fish there so I can have a sneaky look at garden stuff. Just window shopping, but I didn't make much effort with the garden last year and I would like to be more organised this year. Does anyone know how to stop greenfly taking over lettuce plants please?
Congratulations to the little stiltwakers. My small son sat like a lump on the carpet until he was 17 months old when he suddenly decided he'd walk. That was a shock to the system believe me.0 -
Cranky try a spray bottle filled with water and some washing up liquid sprayed on your plants every day. Green fly hate it.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0

Evening all,
And a belated Happy New Year to everyone. It sounds like there have already been some triumphs in less than 24 hours: either Stiltwalker's littlies making big steps (almost literally) or Kidcat your son beginning to come to terms with losing your cat. So far 2013 sounds not too bad!
I am dead-beat: today was one of our sports club's big events: so I was "on duty" from 9.30 until 5 pm - a big part of which was spent outside in the freezing cold cheering folk on. When we got home I remembered I'd salvaged some mulled wine from when we had folk round last week and I can definitely say that microwaved mulled wine rocks!! Then it was bangers and mash and red cabbage, and now I'm struggling to keep my eyes open.
Well done to folk following one of the couch-potato running plans: keep at it girls. And fuddle - either power-walking or slow jogging will definitely help with the weight-loss: so go for it! I've decided that if I'm going to nag folk about running then it's only fair to let you nag me. So my New Year's resolution is to get back into swimming: our main club session is a Saturday morning, and there is also a Monday evening session. So you all have permission to nag me and check that I get back into it.
Have a good evening all, let's keep the 2013 momentum going:)0 -
Well done little stiltwalker! What an achievement and aw little miss is adorable. Uhuh, stiltwalker your goin to watch your little adventurer now.
Thank you for accepting my apology mrs vp - it actually makes me feel all the more embarrassed.
I too have 3 stone to loose and will be rejoining the OS weight loss thread as soon as I get my Internet back. I've been a member of there so many times and never ever seen a challenge through to the end.
I'm giving some serious thought today about rogue negligent landlords and letting agents. I'm thinking about training and qualifying in the laws and procedures of letting agencies with the intention of starting my own business - becoming a hardworking, caring kosher letting agent myself. I want to be a 'one man band' over seeing everything myself to make sure that rules and procedures are followed and people are treat with respect. The first qualification I can do via home learning at a cost of £220 plus £110 for the exams, then a further 2 qualifications after that. I would need to save that money before I commit so a long time to think things through but I quite like the idea of being my own boss, working alone and in complete control of making sure things are done correctly. Who knows. Just an idea (another one!)0 -
Happy new year everyone - I hope 2013 brings comfort and stability to us all.

I'll join you GQ - 50 this year and erm... heavier than you are!
I kept trying the OS weight loss thread but found my heart just wasn't in it - shows how utterly dodgy my relationship with food is now. I didn't want to keep posting about how I'd fallen off the wagon again and again.
Over the years I've tried everything going except for the very faddy stuff (Atkins was never for me, nor the cabbage soup diet, etc.) and what worked best was cutting down on the high calorie stuff along with exercising quite a lot.
Every time I've lost weight, I've gained it back and then put more on as well. It's a familiar tale, I know. Howsomever, I am keeping the faith and have to believe it's possible to get it down and keep it down for good.
I'm being realistic - I'll not be a willow wand in this or any other universe, and health benefits kick in at 10% weight loss, apparently. So that's goal number one! I can't afford diet clubs, so I'm just going to do what I know I have to do.
First job is to uncover my treadmill (bought in a previous life when I had money!) and see if I can waddle my way back to some semblence of fitness. It's currently buried under my fabric stash which has gained hoarder proportions and needs relegating to the spare room of doom. The same spare room of doom that I'm supposed to be decluttering... sigh.
One thing at a time, one thing at a time. I think I may have got a bit lighter today just scurrying up and down the stairs with bags of fabric :rotfl:
Happy New Year to all, glad to hear the good news and positive things happening so far!I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
