    That's lovely news Stiltwalker.
Back from a long walk around a country park - much longer than I usually walk since the operations and am really feeling it. Not sure I'll be venturing out of this chair for a while now.
I forgot to tell you guys what I saw on the way back from the panto in Birmingham. A sign in a grubby old club on a grubby old street - post NY party, 6am-12pm today. Presumably for all those revellers who can't bear to go home at 6am and really feel the need to go and dance at another party for 6 hours. I felt like going along just to see the state of the people turning up.

  • Just got home from taking DD to airport, we'll see her again maybe next christmas, if OH gets over his operation next month and he is up to flying then.

All visitors gone home now. Cheese and tomato on toast for tea ;), and frugal menus from now as back to pre-op diet. It was great to loose a bit fo weight before Christmas, now need to try again, and keep it up.

Its decs down and away tomorrow, but signs of improvement - we are sure the sun was out a bit longer this afternoon, sky was still blue at 4.15.

Getting some good ideas and vibes from this blog, keep strong everyone, we'll come smiling through in spite of problems :D.

    :) Evening all.

Possession, that was an interesting linkie. I'm pleased to see that none of my regular purchases appeared on the Worst List although I have had Sainsbug's Basics Tomato Sauce and I didn't think it was that bad.

Every time I see a pic of Eric Pickles I flash on Animal Farm and one of the ruling pig-ocracy. Heaven knows I'm not skinny myself but I would think it wiser if a man whose regime of cuts will impact on tens of millions of his fellow citizens keep a smaller profile. That's a disgusting amount of biccies by anyone's standards. Bet they weren't Basics branded ones, either.:rotfl:

My N Y Resolution (eat no chocolate or cake) is holding fast for the past 11 hours but we will see. Some months ago I did something very immature; I hid my scales. I'm not actually sure where they are but having had a good clear out, I think the only place they can be is in a suitcase under my bed.

I hid them because the figures somehow kept climbing and it was stressing me out. I shall dig them out and weigh myself tomorrow. I think I probably weigh 15 stone. 11.5 would be a reasonable weight at my height and build. Not slim, but reasonable. I'm pushing 50, have several chronic illnesses and a sedentary job, so not going to be turning into a gym bunny or running marathons.

:o Got a lot of gluttony to live down. Shan't be going running as I have shin splints and ME but will walk more and hope to diet it down. Perhaps 4 lb a month might be reasonable. It was several years in the build-up, not expecting it to get down all at once.

Ach well, being more of the size I used to be would make me happy and probably help my health a bit.

Hope everyone has had a pleasant day (the woods were lovely, in a midwintery sort of way).

    Stiltwalker - how lovely!

Shegar - there is a winter fuel allowance available if your household claims DLA, speak to your energy provider, they will need proof of your benefit but that's easy enough. DH claimed last year (£120) and this years is £100 as far as I know. It goes straight into your energy account (ours went in march last year so I assume it's the same this year - we did have to phone to reapply)

We were tucked up by 10pm last night, I woke briefly to fire works at midnight and then didn't wake up until 8am - bliss (although 2 hours late for DHs meds - oops) Need to get my backside in gear for implementing our new budgets, I'm still dreaming of nice big win on the premium bonds...".ahh well, it's good to have aims :)

I think the benefit is ESA for the fuel allowance ;)
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.

I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.

Shegar I understand your worries, as you know we are in a similair position. I rang my energy provider and asked if they did the winter fuel allowance, they denied it. So I went online and there..lo and behold... was a form to fill in for the allowance, so I duly filled it in and was told that in the New Year my account would be credited with the money. Its lucky we have simple pleasures like a walk or seeing family because no one can take them away from you.

Oh stiltwalker, you are going to be busy especially if one of your babies is teaching the other :rotfl: How wonderful for you.

And not to be outdone by her little brother DD has just been very clever too. She has for a while been getting off the couch by shuffling to the edge of the seat and leaning stood up before sliding to sit down - well today for the briefest of milliseconds there was actually a millimetre of fresh air between her bum and the edge of the seat!!!! I like this year!

A bit adventurous today...thinking of having something cheap and cheerful for my evening meal. I thought that I may dice a potato and an onion, cube what remains of some corned beef. Possibly add a fried egg.

Its a change to sandwiches...and follow with a small dessert of some kind.

My Dad used to make that when I was a child but if you hard boil the egg then shell and dice it, add to the mix and add baked beans its lovely!!

    Stiltwalker that is wonderful news!
My little brother is back to stay for a few days before he goes back to school. He is only 14 and just now whilst we stood in the kitchen he asked me to make him a drink 'you are my favourite sister you are' so he says. I asked him why he couldnt make it himself and he said he was too lazy! After laughing about it he wandered back into the front room and i followed him....just so i could give him an empty glass with the comment that i was feeling too lazy to fill it!:rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:
