:jHappy New Year to you all.:j

I am sending you my best wishes for a safe, warm and peaceful new year. I am trying to (virtually) wrap you all up in a warm lilac blanket to pass on as many healing vibes as I can. If you can imagine yourself as you read this surrounded by a soft lilac light.
We can take strength this year from the friendship we have found here, small things we do to keep each other going are so important. Thanks everyone. :)
Give us the strength to encounter that which is to come, that we may be brave in peril, constant in tribulation, temparate in wrath, and in all changes of fortune, and down to the gates of death, loyal and loving to one another.”

I can't pin down a particular thing that is upsetting me just a general feeling. I am going to see if I can sleep some more and if not I can listen to the radio quietly. Perhaps it is more like anxiety.

You don't need a reason to be anxious Pops, generalised anxiety works that way. Might be worth a drop in to your GP? There's some pretty good meds for anxiety and depression and you might just need something to get you over the hump. The problem with anxiety is it self perpetuates and medication can sometimes break that pattern. You're also sleeping badly which could be helped.

Not trying to push you to something you don't want, just concerned about you is all.

I am so different to how I was earlier...perhaps it was something to do with waking up so suddenly. I will keep a close eye on things...especially as I have been doing so well.

  • Morning Toughies, Happy 2013!!!!! I had a very disturbed night mainly due to the lurcher being so upset over the fireworks. He just wouldn't settle down and we even gave in and let him upstairs but he was so out of sorts he just paced round the room. Poor old boy!!! Then DD2 texted at 2.00am to say Happy New Year just as I was dropping off and set the dog pacing again, Ho Hum today as they say is another day!!!

Hope you all have a nice day and even better a nicer year than 2012 in every respect and the really good news from Hampshire is that it isnt RAINING today, goodness me, now there really is a treat!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.

:D Morning Toughies, welcome to a brand spanking new year. It's looking good from my window; flawless blue skies and sun on the trees. Think I'll get dressed and see if Dad wants to go walkies in the woods; last chance before going back to the big city *snigger* this afternoon.

I crawled off to my pit about 11 pm and woke about midnight to shedloads of fireworks and went back to sleep again. I turned down a New Year party as I can't stay up that late with the ME and would take about a week to recover my equilibrium afterwards.

:p Plus I is a miserable anti-social g-i-t at times......:rotfl:Only joking, I like people a lot, but in smallish groups, not big parties or (heaven forfend) nigjhtclubs.

Hokay, hope you all have some sunshine and a pleasant bank holiday. I'll be at the salt mine tomorrow when all Dec's non-essential issues will be reported at once by the public.

 Never ring your LA on a Monday (or the first working day of the year) if you can humanly avoid it........

Good morning all and A Happy New Year to you all!
I almost saw the new year in but fell asleep at five to midnight. My cold seems to have come back and i feel like my ears are blocked. Not a pleasant feeling.
7ww i have saved that pattern and will give it a try. I didnt think of knitting it.
Kidcat i hope your son is feeling a little better today? Would it help to suggest he plan a small memorial in your garden perhaps with everyone in the family sharing a special memeory of your cat and then lighting some chinese lanterns?
I'm sorry if my suggestion makes you feel sad but i am hoping it will help your son (and yourself of course) xxxx

Good morning and a second Happy New Year to you all,

I have had about 6 hours sleep and feel fine, no hangover. I guess I will feel tired later and plan to get to bed early tonight as its DH's first day back to work tomorrow and I will get up with him just because it will be nicer for him. :heartsmil Also have to get up 6.30 on Thursday... with the kids to take the car for its MOT. Eeeek!

Well its feels a good start to the year - clear bright skies, birds chirping away and none of the wet stuff (though the rain was very heavy here overnight). DH likes Xmas more and not keen on new year - the opposite for me as I struggle with Christmas in some ways and love the idea of a brand new year stretching ahead with all sorts of adventures and possibilities. Yes there will be some things we have no control over but there will be plenty of things we can shape in our own way and we can decide to do some things differently. I am full of hope today and want to extend that feeling to you all.... wishing for you all hope and support in abundance. Us toughies will stick together even more tightly and get through anything and everything together.

pops - how are you feeling now? try and get some rest, even a little nap

peace and love to you all

I love New Year, don't like xmas. Lovely icy windy bright morning and am off to look at the BBC to see how things went in Edinburgh last night. Somebody had fireworks last night in the village and it set a load of geese panicking so then we had them flying round in circles honking like mad :)
I don't think this year is going to be an easy one with benefit/money changes and am going to tighten everything down just a wee bit more to be ready for it.

    Happy new year everyone!

Did anyone else think the London fireworks were a shocking waste of money? The two sentences 'bread and circuses' and 'Fiddling while Rome burns' kept coming to me. So many people struggling, and they spent (allegedly) £200,000 on 11 minutes of bling. I would have thought the figure was higher than that myself... Also from one of
my FB chums, I saw a linky yesterday that made my blood boil

"Greedy 'fat cat' Eric Pickles department & the Conservatives have gorged themselves through £42,225 on 'biscuits & snacks' in just seven months.

The Department for Communities and Local Government office spent £42,225 of British peoples’ money on 'biscuits & snacks'"

My first thought was to reach for the calculator, which tells me that figure amounts to £200 a day...my second was that some one should send them Twinks Hob-nobs recipe PDQ!

Anyone made any new years resolutions?

    Kate
  • Lovely sunny day here too. Maybe we'll dry out for the first time in ages now.
Speaking of drying out ... I think I fell off that Fiscal Cliff last night
Wishing everyone a Happy, Healthy and Prosperous 2013 - with no money wasted on enormous snacks for enormous people and no wasteful fireworks for a small section of the population (though they WERE speccy-tac-ular weren't they)?
    Normal people worry me.
