I am so bad. I am sat here stuffing my face with shortbread and tea, reading up on The Raw Food Diet. :rotfl::rotfl:
Although I dare say I could eat raw shortbread....;)0 -
My problem is that willpower and I had a falling out many years ago and now chocolate is my best friend
Its pouring with rain here and OH has gone to help a friend pull a car out of twenty foot ditch:eek::eek: not sure how successful they will be but they are giving it a go.
Kids have been incentivised to tidy rooms, two DVDs I ordered before Christmas have arrived so I have promised they can have them as long as their rooms are done - so far so good.
Off to the shops today, as we need bread and milk, and we seem to have run out of tissues, DS8 now has a cold and he needs certain tissues or else he just wipes anywhere, so the tissues are a priority. :rotfl:0 -

Reading about it you're halfway there - and think of all those calories you're using moving your eyeballs left to right!!! besides, here shortbread is one of our five a day :rotfl:0 -
I've just tided up cupboard under the stairs  Took, uhum, a little longer than expected. I was looking for my candle melting metal jug...Time to make some candle stub and drier fluff firelighters
My next job of deep joy is to go and give the bedroom carpet a going over with vanish Oxi bleach...dog was throwing up in there again last night, although I leapt out of bed and directed onto tissues (God I'm good in a sleep to wake crisis :rotfl:) there were a few bits 'off the edge' and the carpet looks grim. Someone at work told me that the oxi stuff worked brilliantly, and last time I tried it it was quite impressed. This is a regular thing with Mattie - she was eating loads of grass when we were out yesterday, I think it's the vegetable equivalent of a hair ball
Got lots to do today really, but it's mainly in my head. I've been asked to cater a wedding buffet for sixty in April. I've got loads of ideas, but I need to cost it out (the boring bit!)

I am feeling slightly virtuous, washed the car myself, kids were meant to help but they got bored after a short while so they made a dam with twigs to stop the water running down the end of the drive on to the pavement. I love it when they play without toys or electronic props. Squirt of car washing liquid from a stickered £2.99 bottle and some hot water - beats a minimum £5 car wash but it does feel a lot of effort.
Cleared out everything from car (bags of stuff, what is it all?!) and give the interior a going over with baby wipes. Looks tons better but not showroom quality by any means. Hoovered it yesterday and then we went for a muddy walk - not hoovering again though. Car has MOT tomorrow and so felt shamed into cleaning it (such a rare occurence and especially so in the winter.) Not sure how I am going to get the kids out the door for 7.45 tomorrow but they didn't moan this morning but there again they didn't have to rush about. I can feel a bribe coming on for tomorrow!
I am now thawing out on here with a big mug of coffee and tree chocs (as per my signature :rotfl:). I bought 2 packs pre-Xmas tree and stashed away, got the tree and of course couldn't find them so bought more. Found them today and boys think its fab they are allowed to eat 3 or 4 chocs at once rather then the usual one a day. Small pleasures always the best!
Next to hang up 2 loads of washing and sort out dry pile and make us all a quick lunch. Then to clean the muddy shoes from yesterday and the matching hall floor. What a glamourous life I lead!
Still feeling glad its a new year, determined to make it as best as I can for me and my family.

Hello all, very thrifty day here today and a no spend day too. Porridge with sultanas for breakfast, onion soup with wartime potato welsh rarebit on toast for lunch and then wartime cheese pudding with homemade coleslaw and jacket potatoes for supper. All using up last bits from the pre christmas shop. I delved deep into the bread bin for some bits for the bird table and came up with half a fruit bread I'd forgotten about which is still good, so I'm making bread and butter pudding for tomorrow. It's cold and damp here today, but the washing from yesterday has been ironed and put away so that is good. I'm making another wartime menu for next week and trying to use up some of the freezer contents, hopefully I shall have to buy in very little for next week too. Isn't it nice to be back on normal routine? I love christmas but this year it's really nice to get back to normal again. Have a good day everyone, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

I find by New Year I'm really itching to get back to normal as well.
Seed catalogue has arrived. We've been threatened with being chucked off our allotment because with having to have an op on my hand, I couldn't clear the ground in the autumn. And it's still painfully sensitive to cold because there was a bit of nerve damage which, fortunately, is healing slowly. I thought we might as well tackle it in the spring but explanation of circumstances didn't wash, we have until June to get it fully cultivated with stuff growing and NO weeds. Part of me feels like saying what they can do with their allotment given the state it was in when we took it on and all the groundwork we have done, but I know we'd never get another one. DH retires this year and I think we will be able to keep on top of it - he's had no time at all (one of the reasons he has decided to go)It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!0 -
Afternoon everyone
Been seriously MIA for a few weeks - combination of doing stuff for mum, who's now out of hospital thankfully, and we also went away for Christmas - so have probably missed loads again. Hope you've all had a decent Christmas and New Year, whatever you did, and that this January has started well for you all!
fuddle - hope the move went well, have sent you a fbk message x
New year has started off fairly well so far - finances not bad, been on AD for a few weeks but not sure if they're working yet, plenty of food in the freezer and pantry so planning some menus for the next week or so.
Must catch up on here a bit - lots of love whether for good or sad reasons to you all.

Just wondering pooky whether I would be better off volunteering for shelter or CAB. DH thinks, and I happen to agree really, that I'm too flakey to go it alone and that it would have a detrimental effect on my mental health.
I've applied to my new council about childminding although I have to ask permission from new LL and it will mean Alfie staying in a garden kennel while a child is in my care.
Truth is I'm lost with what I want to do with my life. I would like to retrain but in what? I would like a job but in what? Any job would mean a car but the flip is I can't afford a car without a job. I'm thoroughly mixed up and just don't know what to do.
I'm totally bored, watching daytime TV while crocheting. I've walked the dog, taken the kids to the park, done my bit housework and now there's nothing. This is my life and I want more.
How does a women earn money when she has children and no transport?0 -
Off I go to Facebook then. Hullo cheapskate and lovely to read your mum is out of hospital! not sure until I read fb but the tone of your message is much more positive
I think I may be going back in ADs in the future. I'm struggling
