Well hello everyone, nice to read some good news posts. Today i became the proud owner of a kenwood mixer, it was being given away on freecycle. My SIL collected it, and my mum took the bread hook but i got the mixer etc.
We had the joyful day taking wreathes to graves and then having lunch out. On the way home my mum visited one of her brothers, was a very strange meeting. Basically an interogation of what we were doing etc, all wrong. My mums sister was there with her husband and she didnt even acknowledge my mum. Was very awkward, and totaly hostile. Its a shame when these things happen. I spoke but wasnt spoken back too, there loss.
Back to some cheery news, DD is on work experience at a dementia daycare facilitiy. She has been painting with them, had lunch and endless cups of tea. The report from the owner so far is excellent, and some of the relatives have mentioned that they make their relative very happy when she pops by. Today she is painting nails for some of the more agile ladies. I hope she can stay on, she says its very rewarding.
Take care everyone. xBSC member 137

Aldi have a reduced section.... i went in first thing well 910am and there was 30 and 50% discount stickers on fresh meat. squashed boxes of cereal were reduced by 30%. Have bought loads of meat, including the chicken in a foil tray - worked out it was £1.24 bargain....

Hi everyone,
a boring day stuck indoors with a still poorly DS2 (him feeling bored yesterday pm was just a ruse!) spent ages and ages trying to order boys' pressies on-line (in between hiding screen from DS) as I;m just not getting out to the shops. Most was out of stock, so frustrating. Wish DS2 didn't have his birthday so close to Xmas.
I keep looking inside my 2 lovely neat, nearly empty de-iced freezers (not good I know to open them and waste energy:o) I know exactly what each contain - it's such a novelty.
I almost don't want to fill them again but fill them I must!
I need to find something fun and trashy to watch tonight and something naughty to chomp on to cheer myself I think. Don't feel Christmassy at all I'm afraid, just thinking about all the stuff to do beforehand. Sorry to moan when others have real difficulties. I am thinking of you all and will light a candle tonight for you all - haven't done that in a while.

Hi SQ it's very difficult to feel christmassy when you are looking after someone who is poorly, with the knowledge of all that has yet to be done. It's not a moan, just a 'fed up a little bit' and you're allowed to have those!!!!! Hope DS2 rapidly gets better and that you get all the lovely things you need to fill those freezers too. Bless, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Sq- Its easy to be overwhelmed at Christmas especially if you are having difficulties, I suppose trying to remember it is just one day and anything that doesnt get done well the world will still spin.
I am really pleased with my self today, I am usually an early hours Christmas morning wrapping type of person, but today I got my act together and wrapped three quarters of the presents, planning on finishing the rest on Friday
Attended a meeting at DS14 school today and I am not sure how I feel about it, they are talking of integrating him back an hour a day after Christmas with support, but I am worried. I suppose I will just have to see how it goes.
Ironically I was asked by CAMHS (who attended) whether I would be interested in attending a pilot course they are running for parents of teenagers with ASD - the irony being that I cant get them to give him the diagnosis yet!!
DS14 is suffering from Christmas blues, he is always the same near Christmas and by Christmas eve he will be so wound up talking to him will send him off. So we popped off to costco for a wander as he enjoys the taste testing! It seemed to work too.0 -
Thank you everyone for all the tips re: skincare.
I've heard of ponds before so someone in my family must have used it too. Avene does look good too.
I was browsing as best I could last night about winter afflicted skin and the magazines online were advocating serum application before moisturiser of an evening. Serum?! What's that? It looks like a very expensive oil. So i got the olive oil out and put that on my skin then 10 mins added some night cream. With that and a little exfoliating (honey and sugar) my face is a lot better today. Olive oil is brilliant isn't it.
Black ice again here. DD slipped and banged the back of her head. I kept her with e today just incase. A friend's nephew has also slipped and banged
His head. He's had to go to hospital because he can't remember anything. The paths outside of school are no longer gritted. The scho doesn't buy the grit and the council aren't gritting any walk ways. At least the school bus didn't slide into the school gates today. It did yesterday. Public safety isn't a concern in austere times eh?0 -
Ugh that doesn't sound nice Fuddle. I'm really paranoid about ice because of my knees, and if I fall down I won't be able to get up.
Just made some peppermint cookies, found the recipe on Pinterest, and they were a disaster, melted all over the tray. They - or rather it - still taste nice but are no good for the xmas fair which is what I was baking them for.0 -
Don't know if any of you have a co-op pharmacy near you? The one in town today had some lovely things reduced for Xmas....I bought a lovely cath Kidston style rose print fleece as a pressie for £3, and a rather nice grey fleece shawl with pockets for £3 too, great for in the house! They also had buy 2 get one free on hair slides, a fiver off a £20 spend (think that may have just been for today) and a free nail varnish with any rimmel purchase. Staggered off with all my goodies! LOL!
