I managed to get DH out of bed and into town and I'm now done. Of course now it all needs wrapping and giving out, but all the shopping is done! Can you tell I'm happy???
mardatha I've sent lots of positive energy your way. I hope it gets there (((((((((((((((hugs))))))))))))))))
7 week wonder Next time something gets stuck try putting them back in the oven for a few minutes to soften to see if that helps.
fuddle I'm so sorry you are having problems. I hope the move goes as smoothly as possible.
I have made a batch of peppermint marshmallows to take to book group tomorrow. I found an egg free recipe to use so hopefully they set and taste ok. I have given up trying to finish the book, I just can't concentrate on it at the moment. I need to get DH set up at the dining room table and get him wrapping presents. I also need to try out my favourite cookie recipe when I just dump the ingredients in a bowl. I want to try layering the ingredients in a jar to give as Christmas presents, but don't know if they will work. Then I have a leg of lamb to cook for dinner. It was better than half price in Tesco and we decided to treat ourselves. I've given up trying to get my grocery bills down until the New Year. Then I'll try again.
I'd better go and brave the present cupboard.......take care everyone xxxxx0 -
Peace reigns here at last after nearly four hours of loud thumping music and a dog howling...not here, next door...relief.
Think I'll go out and claim my Euromillions prize, buy my Christmas cake and my vitamin suppliments. May come back and prepare something in the slow cooker to have later...and though the middle of the afternoon I may have my...
Breakfast! I haven't had anything yet...so may have some porridge and some fruit.

Pops are you not starving? I would be if I had been up early and not eaten all day.

Hugs and good vibes to all who need them, it sounds like some of you have a lot to worry about so my thoughts are with all of you. Things seem to be so difficult these days. Hope all goes well for you all.
Have been MIA on here for a while , but have managed to post a few times on the SHTF page between our bouts of horrendous weather. To keep a long story short we keep getting horrendous storms (usually during the evening and night) and had a tornado that did a little damage about ten days ago. Now have it sorted temporarily until the weather clears enough to get it fixed properly. We were lucky with the wind blowing the roof up at the corner of the house and the rain got into the loft. Other people lost their roof and loads of olive trees got destroyed. We only lost the power for 8 hours so were lucky.
At the moment we are in a lull in the weather, but we have a freezing cold wind now and snow on the mountains on the mainland just across from us. We went to buy a new electric blanket and they wanted 105 euros for the cheapest one, so I ordered from Amazon and it arrived here in just 3 days. Considering some of the ferries and flights were cancelled due to the storms on odd days that is fantastic service.
We did want to go away to the mainland for a few days for a treat for Christmas but it doesn't look like its going to happen. They have minus ten temperatures and a few feet of snow. Although the roads get cleared I would not fancy taking the chance of getting snowed in up in the mountains. Looking at alternative plans which involve staying nearer to home. We can leave it till around 22nd when we will have to make a decision one way or the other.
Hope you all have a lovely Christmas celebration xxxx“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
Popps if you got some headphones for your radio you would no longer hear the noise from the neighbours....an added bonus! Blimey, I don't know how you can manage without breakfast till now...I would feel like I was wasting away if I missed my early breakfast!“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. Fuddle I did that for a whole year becose I felt intimidated by mums all becose my son was autistic in the end I moved them schools. To a school with a special school attached to it so kids were used to kids like him I really fear for you I allso used to pick them up at 3 instead of 3.30 so I literally sor no one and dropped them at 9 on the dot no one was around but felt bad from 2 incase I was seen by anyone. Hugs to you it will be better when you move to a new school I did the whole make eye contact with no one but everyone is so busy no one talks to anyone other than a quick hi no groups of intimidating mothers huddled together looking at you and talking about you in the end I totally lost it and shouted in the school play ground if you have something to say just say it we afevall adults even if we are in the bloody play ground my kids never went back to school and missed six weeks of schooling becose they failed to deal with it properly .good luck and forget them you are moving this weekend. XxxI have dyslexia so I apologize for my spelling and grammar0

I know, it's difficult when you dislike trouble...and tend to keep to yourself. We've always had good neighbours so it is a bit of a shock. They did a complete gutting of the house and ripping out of the garden and during Mum's final years the noise and times they did their work was quite stressful. When they first arrived there was a lot of parties and BBQ's but they have stopped at least. Hopefully it will settle down again..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

That's true regarding the headphones...
I usually only have one meal each day or spread it across the day smaller portions...and I did have my snack around midnight when I came in from the music club."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Pops, your poor Mum and you. My Gran is in her late 80's and lost my Grandpa last year and her friend next door a few months ago. The friend's house has been up for sale since she passed away, with my Gran fretting about it being empty and what if someone 'noisy' buys it. The first lady that wanted to buy it was a right one. Came knocking on my Gran's door and barged her way in. Now this lady (early 60's maybe) should have known better and I politely threw her out when I arrived. I was polite till I got her outside then told her to sling her hook as she was looking for gossip to get the price down on the house! The house sale fell through as it turned out part of the land was still feudal. Once that was sorted out, 2 new buyers expressed an interest. Both of those fell through once they found out the house across the road had mine workings under it!
My Gran reckons her friend is upstairs (her term for heaven) having a right old chuckle as she doesn't want her house sold!CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. unixgirluk, I feel it for your gran...to lose her husband and friend so close to each other. Then worry over who may move in next door.
It's ironic when I am so considerate to be in such a situation...they have tended to do all the things you see on the TV DIY programmes where everyone else has kept their houses much as they have always been.
Everyone else has gardens, lawns, shrubs and trees. They are mainly flagstones, walls, patio's etc...sorry to anyone else who have a similar design to theirs. Local wildlife(birds, hedgehogs etc...have all reduced since they changed things)
TBH it probably would work better on a detached house rather than a semi..."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson
