7WW I've just had a lot of practice...and eaten my share of disasters believe me!
My face skin is OK, I've been using a face cream from one of the market traders who does bee products, it's got royal jelly and essential oils in and really does the trick, but my poor hands are in a real state, it's the combination of the amount of washing because of cooking, and the cold this weekend, a long stint out doors on Sunday at the Xmas Fair, and yesterday in the market, they are really chappedI had my moose hide mittens that my ex-SIL bought me in Canada 30 odd years ago on, yesterday and I've always found them a little 'too' warm for normal use!
OH has been under the car in the freezing cold and reports that I need a new back box for the exhaust, so I need to call the guy who fixes it, and figure out a plan. If I drive it to work tomorrow, unless he can take it and fix it same day, I need a way to get home....I'll have to ask DD's BF if he's around. I can borrow OH's car otherwise.
I'm going for lunch at my neighbour's today...so I'll risk walking there if it's not to slippy. DS has just found my walking polesI'm walking almost normally now, after my fall, but I'm just terrified of falling again!

I love my work colleagues!
One of the guys is German and is a fully qualified Konditormeister (spelling?) This weekend was his annual gingerbread making weekend. Apparently he made 10 kg of the stuff: so guess who now has around 500g of biscuit dough that I just have to roll out, cut into shapes and bake.:T
Sorry - just had to share!
I'm another one who loves the Avene Skin Repair cream. Definitely not the cheapest, but I can use my Boots points for it. I'm also trialling quite a nice face cream for sensitive skin at the moment which seems to be keeping my face under control. But I have no idea what it is. For lips blistex relief cream is an absolute life-saver.0 -
Not many of you know this but recently I have been picking my youngest up from the reception at school. For reasons I am not prepared to go into on this thread I am being intimidated. I cannot cope with it an I cannot wait to leave this life behind. Unfortunately I know all to well what can happen when you react to something in life when you should just walk away.
pop up with a random question amongst the angst.
Sorry to hear that Fuddle. You think as an adult you'll never feel intimidated again in your life (once you grow up). I know I've been there so I know how you feel having experienced it many times in my adult life and most recently in the job I'm in currently. The current situation left me frightened during but angry after and thats not me. OH gave me some advice when talking to this person to look them right in the eye and keep looking whilst talking and/or listening. Keep your facial expression neutral or smile if you have to but only using your mouth keep your eyes fixed. The woman here that's been doing it to me has backed off, when I first did it she seemed to get a little flustered. The second she couldn't even look me in the face. Now it seems she is annoying someone else. Wow it's really cold, my outside taps frozen yesterday so i had no washer we got them thawed and keep a tap dripping all night to keep water flowing, i'm off to get some pipe insulation today.
I had my heat on for 5 hrs yesterday and it was still freezing til i lit the fire, so my new plan is to lit the fire in the day and have the heat on in the night, so we did that last night we had the fire on til we went to bed and then the heat came on at 4 til 7 and it was a lovely tempature to get up into, possibly not that frugal but it seems to be working for us, this time 2 years ago i had my heat on 24hrs so atleats i'm using it less, our fire is very cheap to run a £3 box of fire lighters last us a month, and our coal is £4.30 a bag and 3 bags lasts us a month, we bought a ton of logs for £50 about a month ago and have used less than half, so i would say it costs us £40-£45 a month i don't think £10 a week in winter is too bad.
Gonna grab some more coal today aswell, not because i need it but because i'm visiting a friend who lives near my cheap coal place so i might aswell while i'm there, i plan to nip into asda and see if they have any good whoopsies like yesterdayDEC GC £463.67/£450

I'm not sure I can really do anything to correct my health problems just keep things under control as GQ says, without our meds we'd be in serious trouble so even if we dislike them(and their side effects)they do keep us alive.
Anyhow, even though in a limited budget I do try to get all my nutriants from my diet. And eat a variety of meat, fish, vegetables and fruit but I do still try to take a suppliment of vitamins and minerals
Amongst other things I have decided to consider adding to the mix...Ginkgo Biloba which is good for eye health(macular degeneration, glaucoma, Reynaud’s disease)and I do have eye problems and have had occasions where my fingers and toes are cold and numb. Glucosamine to try and help my joints which can be painful especially my knees. Ginger to help reduce cholesterol. So we'll see how it goes. There's everything to gain and little to lose.
I was going to throw my Euromillions ticket away as it looked as though I had not won anything as the numbers started so high compared to those on my ticket but again I managed to get two numbers and a lucky star so that will pay again for another couple of plays...it's just nice winning enough to keep playing without having to find new money...if it could always be so...
Lately the Euromillions draw has been more lucky than the National Lottery. It has paid to keep both going.

QT I only have access to Tesco's so only one SM to see if there are any YS bargains...but if I did not have to travel and add that into the cost I would certainly be looking in Morrisons, Sainsbury's and ASDA to see what they have on offer/reduced. Any savings are lost because of having to travel. And Aldi's don't reduce of course."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

for all those suffering with dry hands/feet. Smother them in any body lotion or olive oil and then put on cotton socks/gloves and leave over night. Quintwins you've just reminded me about the outside tap, I haven't done it and I can't think where the silly box thing I bought for it last year is. Hmm. Must do something, it was -5 this morning. I ought to go check it but not sure I can steel myself to leave the house! With both children off school poorly today DH has taken the car and we aren't going out. Still, I need to put the bin out today so perhaps I'll wrap myself up and go investigate.0

Def get those layers on, it took us several kettles and bottles of hot water from the tap top get ours running again so pipe insulation will def be worth it.DEC GC £463.67/£450

I won't be intimidated, nobody has the right to do that and I won't let them. I second the advice by Unixgirl above - but I add a touch of drama -
If they say something catty or condescending - looking them in the eye, take a step back, look dead surprised, raise your eyebrows (and your voice), and say quite loudly "oh what a catty/nasty/b*tchy (insert your choice) thing to say!!"
As I said, I do like a bit of drama queening
They will have a quick furtive look round to see if anybody heard and then scurry off0
