"Last week, the futures market for feeding wheat reached £227 a metric ton, a rise of 45% since January.
Feed wheat is the benchmark price used for wheat produced for human consumption.
Meanwhile, feeding barley, some of which is used in beer and liquor production, has increased 25% - to £190 - in the same period"[/QUOTE]
Ah, that explains why the local farmer has been filling one huge grain wagon after another, flipping heck I should just be watching what he does, he has his eye right on the ball. Mind you his winter wheat isn`t yet showing much and I can see the field from my bedroom. It is normally a sea of green by now. I read somewhere that there will be no more subsidies for oil grains from 2015? or maybe later, so maybe the gov have an eye on future food needs
Here is me just thinking that I really do want to run my stores down and live more minimalistically, well relatively speaking of course. I can`t move for various stores in this house, I have no cupboard that has ANY empty space and I don`t like it. I mean I have no where to hide chocolates and other secrets. Drawers on top of cupboards make a rustling noise because the cupboards are so full.
I was reading yesterday about cyber attacks on water and energy companies, oh woe is me I have no water stuffed anywhere, except water butt water and the green stuff in the drains along the flat lands and I have hand held filters but it is very possible that we will have no energy to boil contaminated water. Oh gordon bennett, I`ll have to be getting bottled water and keep it on the kitchen floor under the units. Heck I hope I don`t pop my clogs before I have gone through everything, I wouldn`t like to sort this house in a hurry0 -
Morning everyone. Have had a very lazy morning, i know i should be doing my housework!!!! Infact i feel damh tired and lazy. I popped to see my elderly neighbour yesterday as she fell over in town, she has 4 stiches over her eye!! As she lives on her own, i will pop by later.
I made anew version on HM cottage pie, i used up the muchrooms and added them to the mince and gravy. Must have been very yummy as there was none left when i came home. There was only OH and DD for tea.

VJSmum - she has interviews at all three of her choices, but her first choice is tomorrow. She has had to do loads of work for it and has to prepare a story etc. Trouble is she cant find her exam certificates as we moved at that sort if time and everything was in disarray, so she is panicking. I have told her to call the Uni and explain and see what they say.
School deny the incident took place so will be discussing at the meeting tomorrow with the head and ed psych. Its a worry as one of the other boys does tell the same tale so its odds on true.0 -
It's so distressing hearing of children being bullied at school(well anyone at anytime TBH)even though it is probably a natural part of Human behaviour. It may even go back to the times we used to have to fight for everything in some long far off days but as we have a society and have rules to follow, it should not happen or if it does clamped down on as soon as possible.
Not just for the well being of the victim but to stop the bully thinking it is ok and to stop it getting worse and causing problems in later life.
Nutty P I now add mushrooms sliced or otherwise in so many dishes now but do watch out as they can cause gout which I had a not so long ago but that does not affect many people and I mine I think was caused by medication.
When I do a stew/casserole in the slow cooker, it would be better to ask what I leave out as just about anything and everything goes into it. Sometimes I fry them off first but usually they just go into the slow cooker as they are."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Oh I'm glad to hear she has an interview - I thought about her when I knew the offers were coming out as I know she had got worried. Good luck to her. My friend's DD is having a right game with UCAS as she has changed her mind about which courses to apply for - UCAS do not cater for a change of heart.
DD is off school ill - trouble is, I am never sure how ill she really is, as she is a damn good actress. She left school early yesterday due to it - I am a bit cross with her as I think at 16 she should be mostly getting on with it.
Thinking of doing a "pamper hamper" for two of my nieces - aged 13 and 11. The 13 year old is relatively easy - but is it feasible for a 11 year old do you think? I have still bought sweet fanny adams for christmas. I really must begin to do something.
Is there anything worrying your DD VJsmum? Or have you got (as my OH calls it) parentintuition that she's at it to skive?
A pamper hamper for an 11 yo is quite easy, flavoured lip balm (Home Bargains do little ones like cans of pepsi and 7Up for 59p), a nail file or mini manicure kit (a good age to get them into a good grooming habit), mini bottles of shampoo and conditioner, does she have long hair? what about a wide toothed comb, hair accessories. Also shower scrunchie and nice shower gel. Cosy socks, and some sweets.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
Some lovely ideas for Christmas on here, hope everyone has a good time whether with family and friends or on your own. Busy or quiet.
I cannot squeeze one more item in my freezer. I had to take some things out today to get other items in and I am still struggling. Nice position to be in though.
So at 5pm I plan to have some ham, mushrooms, oven chips and eggs.
Tidy myself up at 6pm and then head out the door and have a night out...well it's on the town and watch a musician playing guitar and singing songs from the 30's and 40's at a sports club, I wish it was a little nearer to the centre of the town and the bus service ran more frequent. I'll either have to struggle on foot or get a taxi.
mcculloch29 may be there too:)but I won't impose, it will be a change. The night itself won't be too expensive.
I thought my inexpensive Aldi wristwatch had gone on the blink I have only had it a few months but it was the battery thank goodness. I've managed some of the clearing of the rubbish and I can do some more when I come in tonight. That's a start."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Goodness me I do wonder about the thought process of children, human skittles by karate chopping in the nether regions!!!! The mind boggles, well mine did when I read that. How on earth did anyone thing this was a remotely sensible idea?
I really hope the bullying can be taken seriously and sorted ASAP, if there are two individuals saying the same thing either it is true or they are in cahoots and a few choice questions will reveal all.
Hope the poor peeps become well and any underlying issues of trauma surface and can be dealt withStart info Dec11

I must admit that is a new one on me for bullying and to think people are prepared to line up and allow it to happen(though I don't know how many perhaps it was only a couple of people but that is too many)
I was was once kicked in that area and it is a wonder there was no serious damage, I have never known pain like it. It was sorted out though between parents. It happened away from school and I cannot remember why. We're talking many many years ago."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Many moons ago I heard a prog on radio; the guy was a burns consultant. He was talking about the plastic bags that forces wore when they were taken off Sir Galahad. They contain a fluid very similiar to that exuded by burns (that collects under the blister) which is chemicaly very close to diluted bleach.
If the skin is broken, in a tender place or on a child -dilute one part ordinary (not thick) bleach to 10 parts water and soak the burn in this, repeatedly. For adults on unbroken normal skin, you can use 50:50.
I have used this ever since and get a dry brown mark on my skin which crumbles away to leave pink skin. For smaller burns I soak a tissue or cloth in 50:50 solution and apply, then loosely fasten until it feels warm. First time you do it, expect to swear, particularly if the burn is very new or has broken.
Please.....no medical advice especially if this was 'many moons ago'. Each time I renew my first aid training things have changed.NHS .co.uk gives good advice as does sja.org.uk (st John ambulance).
And I have never been told to treat with bleach- a one in ten solution is stronger than I use for my kitchen and bathroom!0
