Evening all
Well done stiltwalker :T
kidcat I hope that the school pulls it's finger out and sorts everything and that your DD's interview goes well
katieowl that lot sounds wonderful. I agree with Softstuff, I'd be bringing Dotty the Trolley with me if I was closer.
I am slowly getting over my bug, I'm on day 17 now and the cough is finally starting to ease off. DH is off work next week and as we were ill for his last week off, I have high hopes for this one. I only have one present left to get and any others will be bonus ones.
I am trying to feel more Christmassy and have made my first batch of mince pies and two batches of shortbread today. Adding in fruit flakes does work well, but next time I would use more of them. It looks very pretty too with the pink speckles.
I finished the right front of the cardi I'm knitting today at knit and natter, so only the sleeves and edging to go. I'm hoping that I can get it done before the 23rd and then I can get my Mom and Auntie Di to help me sew it together. Then I just have to buy something to go with it.
I'm now going to go and try to separate DH from the pinball game he is playing on the pc....wish me luck.
Take care (((((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))))))))
Are you in leicester only there`s a Knit & Natter in the small town I live in. Saw it advertised today0 -

There are knit and natter groups all over as well - we have two in our area, and a few in surrounding towns too.
I personally prefer the idea of a Stitch and B!tch group instead0 -
Hi carlislelass
Yes I am in Leicester and as kidcat says there are Knit and Natter groups all over the country as well as Stitch and B!tch ones. Mine is a Knit and Natter instead of a Stitch and B!tch as it is held in the local library and they can't have swear words on the posters. I really like going to mine, the ladies are lovely and very helpful and patient. I've progressed from scarves and handwarmers to shawls, hats, flowers and my first attempt at a cardi

7 Week Wonder - how wonderful and what a privilege to be able to do that on your Dad's behalf after all his hard work. I think the OU is amazing - both DH and I are doing degrees, it gets pretty manic in the SW household at times! and the support we get from tutors and other students is fantastic. I love the way we are all in the same boat trying to juggle so many different things - be it work, family, disabilities etc and we've all (or almost all) come back to study at a later period in life after doing other things and gaining other experiences.
SDG - glad you are beginning to feel more human.
Kidcat - good luck taking on school (again), I'm sure they won't know what hit them (again)!!!!0 -
7WW thats a lovely story, how proud you must have been both for yourself and your Dad.
Irish mum, doesnt seem to do much harm leaving things in the de- hydrator, in fact I often leave it when its done for a few hours, if Im not steaming up the kitchen with cooking- and they are fine.
Stiltwalker, well done you, you manage to fit so much in I think you are amazing!
Just babysat at DD's for a couple of hours while she went with her OH to meet his Dad. His Dad lives in France and its like a bloomin royal visit, him and his partner have 14 kids between them and they all have to gather on command. So he doesnt have time to visit DGS again, and Im really annoyed but keep quiet. His mother hasnt seen the boy since he was 6 months old and she lives 10 minutes from us, her children and grandchildren are not high on her list of prioritys either. I miss the little fella 10 minutes after I leave himClearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Oh ginny that is sad - but look at it another way, you dont need to share him!!
Thanks for the good wishes, big meeting tomorrow so will know more then.0 -
Firstly, hugs to all those who need them for whatever reason and also THANKS to everyone who posts. I am dreadful at using that button, so disorganised:o, but I love reading all the posts and hope some kind person will pop on and tell me whether it is ok to freeze HM shortbread. I'm hoping to bake a batch for Christmas, but it's a bit early so I thought I might freeze some.
I'm still going around with the broken (close to the front tooth), but hoping it will hold out until after Xmas. After my initial shock at breaking it, it doesn't look quite as bad as I first thought, especially if I give a lopsided smile or keep my mouth closed completely:rotfl::rotfl:and at least it has stopped aching now,
Managed to pick up some reduced bits in c*-op* tonight:T 2 quich*s and 2 packs of mini ste*k and ale pies for the grand total of 87p! I was more than chuffed and they have been popped straight into the freezer.
Just wondering now if we are going to get some of that white stuff -it's certainly cold enough. Keep warm everyone!Sealed Pot Challenge 7 Member 022 :staradmin:staradmin:staradmin

Congratulations stiltwalker :T
Pookie - I would go with the buffet idea too. Lots of salads, sliced meats, rolls, pies etc., and do big gateaux (from Iceland!) rather than little cakes which take time to make and decorate.2025 Fashion on the ration
