Mardatha how about broccoli in cheese sauce, really easy and tasty too. I used the sachets years ago and they worked for me.

Finally finished meetings for today can only say its silly season, some people have really gone loopy and childish. Honestly the things they said oh its exhsusting.

I just called the college to speak to them about DS's bill...they won't talk to me about it, because he's 'over 18' I hung up on her!

He's still asleep of course. Occurs to me that if they want to play silly beggars, and insist it's his bill, then they will have to find some way of helping him, as he has no income at all! ;)

Is there a student bursary fund or something similar which DS can claim from.

My DS1 has made a claim, as with DH having been made redundant we are on very low income and he has been given meal vouchers (like Free School meals) the cost of the essential kit and essential trips, he has also been given in lessons the text books as he is under the scheme.
    My self & hubby; 2 sons (30 & 26). Hubby also a found daughter (37).
Eldest son has his own house with partner & her 2 children (11 & 10)
Youngest son & fiancé now have own house.
    So we’re empty nesters.
    Daughter married with 3 boys (12, 9 & 5).
My mother always served up leftovers we never knew what the original meal was. - Tracey Ulman

katie - you need to go higher up the admin chain - and to whom was the bill addresses - if him then its not your problem as he has no income as you say, however if its to you then they have to discuss it with you.

My DD18 college have sent me her exam timetable today and will happily discuss anything with me including money.

Yes well I think a lot of us have major issues on our plates right now, but we have to be nice to others, after all this thread is very supportive to posters..........Sheila..

DS spoke to college and handed phone to me. Fortunately it's the full bill, not an end of term to be repeated amount *insert emoticon for sigh of relief* I asked about bursaries, but DS has to make those enquiries for himself. It's all because they switched his course, because he couldn't find anyone to take him on as an apprentice. If someone had had him as an apprentice, THEY would have been getting paid to take him, and he'd have been getting paid £2.65 an hour or whatever the apprentice rate is.

Anyway bank of mum can cough up with a bit of squeezing, knowing that there won't be another bill. A very dear old friend of mine has insisted that she wants to chip in, and DS will chip in too when he finally gets paid for a labouring job he did for someone a couple of weeks ago. I swear to God, what will become of the kids who's families are not a) supportive and b) able to squeeze blood from stones?

Ok thanks everybody. I will try altering his diet and take a look at the iron rich water. He has a lot of health probs inc pernicious anaemia and the docs don't seem to bother their a$$es testing him at all, which I think they should, every 6 months .

  • Welcome to the new posters. Sunshine so sorry to hear your sad news.
Have just got back from the physio and have had more physio and acupuncture. Suffering a bit with it at the moment as something occurred at work last Wed that resulted in me having to sit for almost 6 hrs solid and has flared things up a bit. Fortunately I made a huge sausage and lentil casserole with mash on Saturday night with the intention of freezing the spare so will reheat that for tea tonight. There will still be 3 or 4 portions left to freeze. I used a pack of 8 Tes*o finest sausages that were on offer for £2.50 and after browning the sausages I chopped them up before adding them to the casserole. 10 portions for about 70p a portion very MSE I thought.
I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order :D.

Have just skimmed through and am appalled to find that the thanks button is so important. I bounce on it in an entirely ad hoc way. Sometimes I remember it and sometimes I read through so quickly that it simply doesn't occur to me.
Sincere aplogies to anyone I have offended by not using it. But I warn you, it will happen again!
