Do you think we could all get along now? Now the air has been cleared. I started a new thread about getting through the times but in a practical way. The knowledge part of OS is getting lost amongst the woes - hey, I'm the worst for posting about my nonsensical woes, I just miss the old way of the tougher threads. :(

I only pop my head up when it gets outrageous. I read MSE just about every day as I have done since I found it; as I said to your pal, you have no right to criticise people for when they choose to post. And fuddle, the reason it has all gone wrong is because anyone who dares to have an opinion different from certain posters always get shouted down, and then as I m doing now, someone calls it like it is, and gets referred to as a dissenter or subversive out to cause trouble. I am sure I am not the only person who has been pm'ed to say that the pm'er wants to 'like' my post but hasn't got the backbone for fear that the nice folks on the thread that they normally get on with (because they ignore the rudeness and multiple postings for example ) may in fact ostracise them for daring to agree with someone who disagrees with them. It's worse than the playground!

It takes a lot to annoy me, but this'you don't post regularly so you shouldn't say anything' attitude really really annoys me. This is a free resource, and all are welcome, even those you don't agree with. It's a shame all the valuable advice gets lost when you are skim reading to avoid the repeated nonsense. And I am not rude enough to say I have put people on ignore to allow me to do that!

I don't have any problem with people only posting now and then, I have a problem with people who post to make trouble.

This is exactly what happened last time the thread turned nasty - someone took offence at what was being said and came on spitting blood and foam.

If people are honestly bothered whether someone is 'thanking' them or not that is very sad, and one reason I do not use the thank's button, because others use it to put people in 'gangs'.

If you didn't like me admitting that the ignore button exists and is there to be used, I am sorry, but that is life, I am allowed to say it.

Mrs Chip, you hadn't posted when I started typing, so that's not aimed directly at you. It's not aimed at anyone actually, and is just my opinion.

That's ok Jackie, I'm very sorry everyone seems to think this is an awful thread to be part of :(

Of course you are, I am talking about a very specific incident with a very specific poster which was done to be rude and hurtful IMO. I am not trying to cause trouble, I was responding to someone posting unnecessarily rudely to someone else. It's a bad day for society when we can't stand up for others. Anyway, I've said my piece, I can put the lid back on now....

Again you hadn't posted when I started typing this....I don't think it's an awful thread, that's the point. It's just awfully hard to get involved because some of the most frequent posters are rude and unwelcoming to some newcomers and when someone expresses an opinion they don't like they are told'you don't post regularly, so shut up' ( I know that's a paraphrase, but as an observer, that's how it looks to me, which is what put me into overdrive tonight)

Can we not just accept that on any thread there will be posts that are not neccessarily relevant to our own circumstances and do what I do and skim over what you do not wish to read.

I enjoy the vast majority of the posts on here and if people want to post about the weather then let them and if you do not wish to read then scroll down.

Now there is 3 full time working adults and little old me on a very part time job.I have very little money but a little savings.

Both adult kids give £100 house keeping a month to oh

    What???????????????????????????

One third of their take home income is the basic I would require

    To move out will cost

    Rent - £250-500
    CT bill £70 - 120
    Heating, lighting etc - £30-50
    Water - £30
    TV licence - £12
    Food - £100

    Why are you sibsidising them?

Part of being a parent is teaching your older kids how to be an effective adult.

I understand what the older posters are saying about the weather though. 2tonsils weather is continually posted on all 3 threads that I frequent. It was getting a bit too much in my opinion but I didn't say. Someone did say and was spoken to rather rudely. That is unforgivable. Whether people post or whether people lurk makes no difference in my opinion. These people who don't contribute used to hold this thread up and now don't want to post any more. That is what is sad. I asked the question why and those posters have told us. It is so sad. Nobody should feel they can't post any more. Whether that's the impression we give on here or not, that's what people feel. :(

    Well, that's it for me.

There is obviously a lot going on behind the scenes that only a few know about.

    I don't want to be part of a playground gang, !!!!!! I am 54!

Perhaps we should have a rule that we NEVER suggest someone isn't a regular just because their post count is low, especially if they joined MSE quite a while ago. Lots of people read and lurk. If we all keep that in mind it will help to keep the community spirit on the thread - which I really like
It doesn't matter if you are a glass half full or half empty sort of person. Keep it topped up! Cheers!
