You're all beauties
thank you!
elisamoose I so wish I could help you re: your pressure cooker. Anyone able to help elisa?0 -
I am afraid I can't help Elisa as I am absolutely useless with phones and apps....I had an i phone and it drove me crazy for six months until the button fell off...I was so relieved! It took forever to answer it going through the menus and people would ring off because I didn't answer immediately. People are so impatient when they ring you these days.
I now have a 10 euro phone that does not have a camera or any apps....it does have a good torch though. Does anyone else hate mobile phones? It annoys me to bits that people ring my number to speak to my husband and then get irritable when he is not with me to pass my phone to. My mother in law lets it ring once then hangs up if you don't answer at once....and its usually when I am driving so I have to pull over...or even worse...when its at the bottom of my handbag and hiding..“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
Loved this! Why the hell would you want to have bits of diamonds in your nail varnish!!:rotfl:
It's a different world. I mean you may know the product has diamonds in it and pay a silly price for it but unless you tell others they won't know and what are the benefits for it's inclusion. I wonder if the diamonds used are more likely to industrial or ones that would have no use anywhere else."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Kidcat, jem and others having such a tough time, I do see your posts and so much hope that things get better for you. My special candle is lit all the time, sometimes I blow it out but then I see something else and on it comes again
I did a nigel slater quickie yesterday and it was so scrummy. Garlic and butter (or olive oil) in a wok and dipped thick hm lightly toasted bread on one side. Tossed lots of shredded cabbage in plus some left over choritzo (he used ham, bacon bits would do but cook in pan first). Piled on the dipped bread and covered with an undipped slice. Honestly was really nice
Very happy to now be entering calm weather but the rainclouds over certain parts will linger and herein lies the danger of lots of rain falling on sodden ground. Just been listening to local radio and individual horror stories esp the one about the man who opened his shop on 12th nov after working from home for 8 years and the family who moved in 2 years ago and started a woodlog business, they are now 2 foot under water and the business is gone for this year. They can`t do anything for 2 days as water will rise until wednesday. They spent the night in a travel lodge. It brings tears to your eyes. I know locals rally round and it brings out the best but so sad
Gosh crickley hall is good, I sat watching and then all of a sudden I can feel a flash of cold blood go through my veins. One more to go
Re hair, I have short white hair and had the same giddy and friendly hairdresser for over two years but she is cutting shorter and shorter. Last time was 7 weeks ago and it is still far too short, it was sticking up for weeks and I didn`t want a sticky out style. I have rung up to put it off for another two weeks. I am going to have to say, aren`t? I know the salon will go silent as people listen. Half of me wants to move elsewhere because she should know my taste after 2 years but she is so nice. One more chance, what do you think? I am going to ask for only a minimal tidy up. I wish I had long hair to just tie back tbh0 -
I didn't hear anything of a deluge overnight but it's picking up now. DH is in work and not venturing out today and I am staying firmly put as my two have diarrhea. So no going out.
I'm relieved to not have to walk in it and I need to get to grips with the house. When it's a mess it muddles my mind and I feel all out of control and anxious. I must learn about Feng Shui. I'm sure I need it!
I've to go in the en suite (ha! sounds posh, it isn't. It's a shower room that has been installed in the bedroom cupboard by LL's dad. A very shoddy job without any extraction) we've never used it as we haven't trusted it at all but being in the damp room there's mould growing on the grouting.
Am I correct in thinking a scrub with bleach and vinegar will do the trick?
I've also got to put my table on ebayit's the one possession I have that I love to pieces. It just won't fit so has to go. It's only a table huh?
DH also has found out that as the houses are new there's no ariel. We have to pay to get one installed. We possibly won't have TV over Christmas although DH does want sky installed again so I don't know. Also the ariel socket and plug point is up by the ceiling so we have to hang the TV on the wall which means another expense in buying a bracket. We just think it's going to have to wait till after Christmas.
Can I ask a favour? I have heard the makers of The Snowman have made a new one with a dog in it. If anyone sees it's going to be on would they give me a shout so the girls can watch it online? Ta muchly
Hi Fuddle,
shower room - it might need neat bleach. Just watch your clothes as with me bleach gets everywhere!
New house - same here when we got this house. I bought a tv aerial (£20) and installed it in the loft. Lot of videos on Youtube how to do it. Also try your local paper as some local firms will put one in for about £25 (and probably a lot less pfaffing about than I did). Meant I could hook the freeview box up to it. As for Sky if there are any current deals on (I'm not staff there any more but friends are and I know there was a friends and family deal on just over 3 weeks ago) then a call to them since its in the run upto christmas they may offer you the same deal. Push for the best offer you can get and don't be afraid to say I'll think about it. Believe me they'll want your business.
TV socket - until you can get a bracket (sometimes they come up on freecycle usually after christmas as people swap their old tv for a new one) why not just get an extension cable? Other than that if you need to get one now try the supermarkets as theirs are usually the cheapest or try kelkoo to compare various sites to get the best deal.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
kittie, I'm afraid you're probably going to have to mention it for your own sanity. Just something so simple as 'would you mind if we kept a little length'. She's probably got it in her head that you want the trendy greying pixie. Maybe take some pictures in. I dare say she would be mortified if she thought a customer was going out unhappy at what she was doing.
I'm hearing too many sirens this morning. It's worrying out there. When I hear that it's going to stick around for a bit I get concerned at rush hour tonight. Just want DH back home now.

If you could get Sky in before Christmas you could watch the BBC, ITV, C4 and C5 using the Sky box and not bother with an ariel. And now with the digital switchover it will have to be one for receiving Freeview. So to see anything via the ariel you'll need a tv with Freeview built in or add a Freeview box.
Most channels on Freeview are carried via Sky anyhow.
If you do not want the Sky channels at all, many of the channels that are on the platform but are not owned by BSkyB, they can be viewed for free. And once you cancel your Sky, the box turns into a Freesat box. More TV and radio channels are being added all the time.
The new Snowman was being discussed on the radio last week and I think it is a highlight of Christmas Day but that could change."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Kittie - you could always say you want it a little longer for the winter, just don't forget to say in the spring that you've decided you like it longer or you may get a spring shearing!0

It's the £50 that's the problem. It's a big chunk of money for us and with the holiday money and emergency fund cleared to move we've got nothing in reserve until we get the deposit back on this house we live in. A rotten time of year to move - but I'm still happy
Things don't always go to plan but if it's worth having, it's worth waiting for
Kidcat, thank you. I'll look at the stuff Byatt was talking about from Lakeland. Drat DH cancelled sky because LL wants the box kept in the house to go with the sky dish. We were going to sign up again when we moved into the new house. Have we done it wrong?
If it is your Sky system, can the LL do that?
Phone Sky they won't want to lose your custom, they may do a deal to keep you...I cancelled but they tried to keep me...I only have Freesat now but don't watch that much."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

KITTIE - I was in the same situation with my hairdresser who is a mobile one who came to the house. We'd been cut by her for some 12 years and she had almost become a friend, visiting once every 6 weeks. My hair was getting shorter and shorter and she was doing less of a good job cutting it each time she came as she was chatting all the time she was cutting. I finally had enough when someone called me Sir in a shop and cancelled the next appointment. That was some 3 years ago and although my hair took quite some time to grow out it is now long enough to plait or put up in a bun and I don't go to the hairdresser more than once a year for a small trim. It isn't easy going through the 'Hairy Bush' stage, but I think it's worth it now. Good Luck pet, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
