I've gone blonde too (from chestnut brown). It wasn't my fault, honest...
It was my hairs big idea - bits of it started to go very blonde.... white blonde... which was a bit too light for my liking.
So we came to a compromise....0 -
I go to a really good Greek hairdresser who does my hair exactly how I want it done. He even asks if you want it washed before he goes for his scissors. Then he shows you in the mirror how much he plans to snip off and gets your approval. It's nice to be able to trust someone completely. In the past I have had some hairdresser horrors...from one who dyed it bright orange to one who cut it shorter than I would have thought possible with scissors.... I have fine long hair which is just beyond shoulder length and a sort of multi autumn colour scheme (it goes that colour in the sun!). It has just enough wave and static in it to be a nightmare so I have a conditioning perm done once a year which helps control it. I also have to use anti static spray each time I comb it. It might be fine hair but there is a lot of it!
The interview went very well but I turned down the job. They wanted to pay commission only and have you doing all the running around using your own petrol money and telephone as well as your time. I don't think so, particularly since the Greek government are planning to charge freelancers 30 percent tax from the first euro you earn plus a 'solidarity' fee to be a freelancer. I would be well out of pocket doing all that. I think I will just return to being a writer, I do that well and I can do it at home with what I already have. The lady who did the interview actually tried to tell me that the housing market was doing really well for her.....well....if it is she is the only person in Greece who is doing well!
We have one more night of good weather then we are onto storms, high winds and torrential rains for the next five days here in Greece. Battening down the hatches ready for it. Off to empty some more out of our water tank before it comes down as last time it started flooding the living room as it could not cope with the amount of water. Luckily we have tiles downstairs that can be easily cleaned! It has turned quite cold out, four degrees tonight.
Thinking of all the people hit by the floods tonight and feeling sorry for them when it starts to get really cold. I can't think of anything more miserable than being flooded out and frozen.
Made a quick vegetable and corned beef stew for dinner when I got home from the interview and it was delicious. I also defrosted some liver this morning then forgot about it...so will have that tomorrow. I have some recipes now for almond biscuits, Christmas cake and Christmas pudding, all gluten free. So going to have a go at making those. Seriously considering going away for a few days at Christmas if the weather is going to be good enough for us to drive over the mountains. If it's not good enough then we may take the ferry and the bus, but at the moment the buses are cancelled as they don't have the money for fuel to run them........welcome to Greece!“The superior man, when resting in safety, does not forget that danger may come. When in a state of security he does not forget the possibility of ruin.” Confucius (551 BC - 479 BC):A0 -
Ah, I'm gutted
One of my DD's is having relationship troubles with her partner of some years. I found him sitting in the lay-by near our house in a bit of a state this morning. I'm really, really cross with her, but don't want to interfere.
I'm hating this bit of the kids being 'grown-up'!!! You get to like their partners, and they become part of the family and then it's all history.
I hope they can sort it out.

WHat a soggy weekend! And the rain hasnt been that bad here. The new snowman film is on chistmas eve according to the news report i read about it. I want to watch it with my children so will be setting a reminder as soon as possible. A shame you can only set reminders a week in advance with sky. I dont know if that is different with any other providers?
What on earth is hair chalk? And does it cover grey hair?0 -
I've been in Worcester today and it was awful the way most of the River Severn was out of the river! My son and daughter-in-law were flooded three times before they decided enough was enough and managed to sell (it WAS a beautiful house, just too close to two rivers). When I saw the flooding I sat down and cried, even though it wasn't me that had to deal with it.
My heart goes out to people suffering these awful floods, it really does.
I too have short blonde hair, all natural of course...ahem. It's great coz you can't see any growth when it needs another "Nice 'n Easy".Normal people worry me.0 -
Evening all. We are not in a flood warning area so apart from being very damp we are not in any danger of having to paddle.
Softstuff, will look at the book you have recommended, thanks, but I am still banking on this being a short lived acute thing (fingers crossed). Physio did acupuncture on me. I am now sitting with a lovely warming heat pad on but should probably think about moving to start making tea soon. Sweet and sour pork with noodles tonight. I think my idea about tackling the other half of the ironing might go on hold tonight (shame).I am playing all of the right notes just not necessarily in the right order.

Yep Katie been there, know that one. And the ones daughters dump are usually the nice ones - the ones they keep are usually the morons!0

We are looking heavily into flooding in Northumberland when we move next year. The important thing is to make sure that where we move to it is not going to be deluged with water. Snow we can cope with, flood water I'm afraid I cannot.Cat, Dogs and the Horses are our fag and beer money

Kaie, i agree its all chos when they'grow up'. I remeber only too well when my eldest split up with her boyfriend, he arrived where i was working and stood and cried his eyes out. I was so cross with her, as i consider him my son!! I arrived home that evening and after they had had a 'good talk' they are still together. In fact last year they got there first propper home together!! so proud of them as they funded it all on there own and they are 21/22. They manage their money well and save for things!! very OS by todays standards.
Just waiting for OH to come home from work, he left at 4am this morning. I know santa needs his helpers (courier driver) but this year is really busy now - what will it be like nearer xmas???

Thanks so much for all the hair tips, I`ll be following some of the ideas. I`ll be staying short but at the length on top that it is now---7 weeks after the last `trim`. Even my fringe is still ok when normally it would be irritating. Anyway enough about me
I saw this really good tip re protecting from flooding. Everyone just puts sandbags in place but fastening cloth across doors and vents first is better because the cloth filters the muck that is upsetting people so much. It is much easier to cope with clear water. So it would be cloth first, then sandbags as well. I see all those people on tv and so many are so stoic while they are busy but they must be crying themselves to sleep at night. There should now be a communal insurance in place for the uninsurable and it should be compulsary
Me too rainy days, I could not cope with flood and what does really get my goat is all the brand new properties that are now flooded. Builders should be made to help foot the bill, trouble is that buyers get sucked in by good sales people and no-one thinks of floods on a lovely sunny day.0
