Dragon, this PIP business is really depressing isnt it. I dont really think anyone knows yet the truth of what it means to us. One of the many reasons I had to give up work was the cost of OH's prescriptions, we had a choice, pay the rent or get his meds.
Righty ho off to Lidl, or as Mum calls it 'Lidl tiddle diddle' cos she couldnt remember what it was called once :rotfl: then Mr S and home for soup and crusty bread.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.

It comes to something when cleaning the kitchen is preferable to tackling DS's bedroom
No I have managed both this morning, first we tackled the kitchen and then moved onto DS8 room which hasnt had a good sort out in six weeks or more. DD18 and I managed to clear it in record time and then DS8 hoovered it! DS14 has hoovered the ground floor and first set of stairs and has now moved onto his bedroom. He has a friend coming over today so is motivated!!!
DD6 room is still a work in progress as she has spent her morning moaning and groaning about it - even when DD18 went in to help. My dad has been and managed to cobble the gate together which will do whilst I look for a gate properly rather than racing out and buying one.
Am now planning an afternoon of sitting down and watching a DVD with the kids (and maybe a small snooze!).0 -
I applied for DLA for my DH with the DS1500 form (well the doc at the hospice filled it in) and although he was awarded it (and I've no idea exactly what he was awarded, everything was such a muddle), I remember thinking lord that was a long form for such little gain (only got it for two weeks in the end, sadly). Everything's so complicated isn't it?
Re christmas, I'm also trying to rein it in a bit. My two are still quite little, and thankfully like little bits of tat and are not demanding iPhones lol. I've got them some fuzzy felt (from aldi!) remember that? I used to love fuzzy felt...Bossymoo

I've just posted a pic to fb of my girls room...they were knee deep in toys and clothes that the terrible twosome had dragged out of drawers/boxes. have picked up a shelving unit from freecycle this morning and rebuilt it in their room, all the books from their wardrobes are now on the shelves leaving a lot more room. DH brought me home some little crates that are now stacked in the corner with their wellies trainers and school shoes in.
DD1 is lucky that her friends mum seems to sweat money, and spoils her friend rotten. she gave us 3 pairs of winter boots that fit DD1 and had never been worn and regularly sorts out her wardrobe and hands over bags full of barely worn n3xt, g@p and sparks and menser clothes.
just waiting for a tray of hm potato wedges to finish cooking for a dinner of 'chip' butties for me and the girls then off up to finish uf the pigsty.
We've applied for DLA, but wont hold my breath. If it wasn't for you lovely lot on here I wouldn't even have known we might be able to claim.
If I'm not back later, I've been swallowed up by the monsters under DDs beds.freecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
well done Lisa, we had a major re-organisation of DS8 room after Christmas last year and bought Ikea Trofast storage, it means that everything has a place which makes it mush easier to deal with.
DD6 just has a wall of shelving units and its nowhere near as easy to sort out - am hoping that we can tackle her storage after Christmas this year. It would be nice if we could buy her a wall of wardrobes and make two thirds shelves and one third a hanging space. As everything would be behind closed doors then. Its all money though.0 -
Afternoon Everyone!
Not posted for a bit, but have been reading and keeping up with all the antics! I will issue a General Universal Hug to all, as I am terrible at remembering everyones trials.
We have replaced our poor dead car - insurance paid out within 9 days, which seems good to me. We went for a 'look' on Thursday and bought the first car we saw. As expected we had to top up the insurance money (by about 2 grand) but for that we have got a similar car as the old one, two years younger and 60,000 miles less on the clock. And a two-year warranty, taxed till March. So OH wondering what the catch is, but hopefully there won't be one!
Our cat George has been though the mill over the last few weeks, at one point we thought he was a goner, being sick all the time and losing lots of weight. He took to sleeping in all sorts of odd places and looked very sorry for himself. He's much better now, but has taken to sleeping behind the woodburner in the corner of the chimney, even when lit. Strange animal :rotfl:. He still needs fattening up, he is doing his best begging for digestive biscuits.
I have made 'proper' Cornish-styke pasties today (can't call them Cornish anymore) they smell lovely, just like the pasty shop we go to on our hols. We will have them for tea tonight, and two for Mr & Mrs OG. I just can't get the crimp right, I must practice more!
It was a lovley morning, but it is as dark as night now, and terrific rain and some thunder .
Have a good day everyone!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
