Meme I am sorry to hear your news. Some families do get more than their fair share of suffering. I hope your sister-in-law's breast cancer can be treated successfully. xxxx
Tessy is ill. I gave her metacam (doggy painkiller from the vet) for a fortnight to try and reduce her arthritis inflammation whilst I looked for an alternative remedy, having tried two already that didn't work. She has developed a 'tic' and last night she wee-ed in the house for the first time ever. She also vomited in the night. I am terrified that I have damaged her kidneys by giving her the metacam. I will never forgive myself. I knew it could have side effects but recent blood tests showed her kidneys in perfect working order so I thought she would be OK, and it was only a temporary measure. I am waiting for the vet's to open so I can phone for an appointment.
I don't feel like at all like a smileyt this morning.
Scientifically any issues usually arise in the first 12 hours, and other issues are associated with LONG term use - please read over 6 months for this long term bit.
The odds are this is not related to the metacam, but do please check with a vet as it may be other issues that are effecting this change.
Hope doggie is OK, please don't beat yourself up, you took expert advice and followed it, you can do no more. DODGYHUGStart info Dec11

My problems seem trivial in comparison. Being bullied at work. Wrote about it on my diary. Its subtle and I was sooo calm about it yesterday (as the person tried to get me into a lot of bother that would have lost me my job), as soon as I left work I was so angry I wanted to explode. OH thinking world revolves around him atm isn't helping.... he's soooo tired.... boo hoo so am I, I do the same hours he does and have to wait to pick him up before I can go home myself.... he went to bed before I did last night and wondered why I was upset, I'd made our packed lunches and sorted out my clothes for the morning. Everything seems to be getting to me at the moment. My Gran had her check up (she was diagnosed with cancer 3 years ago and had a histerectomy, she missed our wedding because of the op and told me she'd be angry if I postponed our wedding) on monday and everything was ok. She's to go back in 6 months. OH gets his first op tomorrow on his eyes and I have my MRI in the afternoon, I'm dreading my MRI as I need that horrible metal stuff injected into me. OH is upset I won't go in with him (operating room) for his op, sorry but I feel queasy everytime I think about it. I need to be fit to drive myself to the other side of the city for my MRI. .... I suppose all in all I'm just fed up seeing nasty people get away scotch free in life, nothing bad ever seems to happen to them. I just want a break or some luck or both.
For the most of that you could be me:eek: hugs to you, not sure how we do it but we will be OK

Can I post a cooking question?
Mince and dumplings tonight. I normally cook my dumplings in the slow cooker. They are soft still and dough like. DD has asked for hard dumplings like she gets at school. Would I put them in the oven at 180 straight away or do I slow cook them, let them grow in size then finish them off in the oven?0 -
Just want to send nice thoughts and hugs to everone who needs them. MEME my daughter had spinal surgery back in 2008. It was for scoliosis and due to the lung being distored they used a totally new procedure. It involved removed a rib from one side, and gaining entry that way. It was the longest day of my life as they started at 6am and we finally saw her at 10pm. The change in her, and her lifestyle has been amazing. We have this year been given the all clear. If you need any questions answering please ask.
Have done some washing, and now going to cook tea for everyone as i have work. Its left over veg from yesterday - mince in the slowcooker.BSC member 137

thank you Fuddle for posting something that'll take my mind off how I'm feeling (as I'm at work and feeling quite teary)
Start your dumplings in the slow cooker so they rise then finish them off in the the oven. This will make sure they are crisp on the outside yet soft on the inside and not like cricket balls.CC2 = £8687.86 ([STRIKE]£10000[/STRIKE] )CC1 = £0 ([STRIKE]£9983[/STRIKE] ); Reusing shopping bags savings =£5.80 vs spent £1.05.Wine is like opera. You can enjoy it even if you don't understand it and too much can give you a headache the next day J0 -
FUDDLE - The only recipe that I can find is a Delia one for irish stew with crusty dumplings and she puts the uncooked dumpling mix on top of the stew and cooks it in the oven for 30 minutes to crisp them. If you are cooking the mince in the slow cooker you'd have to transfer it to an ovenproof dish to finish it . Hope that helps, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Morning everyone.
Smiley, the bad effects of Metacam normally occur after long term (ie months) of use. Could just be something simple like a UTI?
Meme and Unix ((((HUGS)))).
Mculloch, boy would I love to be let loose on that chap on a nice long beach for a pipe opener. Can't do jockey style any more though, knees have had it.!
I currently have a heap of 2 greyhounds lying on my feet snoozing off their morning toast, one of which explains my user name. She is called Aria and her tail is a seperate entity to the rest of her body, to the point where she now only has half of it left as she hellicoptered it around too much when she came out of racing and bust the end off. A few hundred quid of vets bills and a re decorated house (blood splattered 7 foot high up the walls, looked good for halloween though!) later she now has half a tail. It now waggs round in circles even faster as there is less of it. :rotfl:
I had a burst of energy last night and cleared out the 'dumping' room from when we moved in so it is now my craft room with only crafty stuff in it. Now the spare bedroom is full of boxes of stuff to sort out instead.:(. Can see a few trips to the charity shop at this rate.

It's a glorious day here, I hope the weather is at least kind to you all too.0 -
Seems like we need hugs all round this morning. Sorry for anyone who's had bad news or a particularly tough time, not got any useful experiences to add but I'm a good listener with a fairly empty PM box if anyone needs a shoulder. X
Kids both at nursery today - so really ought to get my derriere in gear and do something useful, trouble is this is the first time in weeks I've not had really urgent stuff to do or the kids so just feel like dossing and doing beggar all! A holiday is a great thing and we had a wonderful time but I didn't half come back jiggered.
Had a good chat with DD's physio this morning - told him a little of the back story that won't have been in the files ie how we tried to have a multi-agency meeting earlier this year and not a one of PT, OT or SALT turned up, or even sent appologies or a report!!!! And how Disabled Child Team are desperately trying to keep DD of their books as Integrated Services should be providing all we need - grrr - major buck passing if ever I heard it. Will plod on and keep rattling the cages though!
Thinking of you all. X0
