Sheila thats a new saying about your a*se - I love it :D No wonder you are tired and some days you just need that break to sleep and gradually the knots undo. I think I might put a chair in my little greenhouse and go out there it sounds so cosy Im guessing the cat may join me as we dont have dogs anymore.

OH just been for his emergency MRI and boy I hope they find out whats wrong as he has been a grumpy old man all day and I finally lost my temper. On my contract as his carer, written in invisible ink on toilet paper it doesnt say I have to put up with it and I wont. He picked a perfectly innocuous subject to start a row about, I knew it was because he was worried but enough is enough

Ginny - hope the MRI is productive. I've agreed a code word/saying with DH that I can say if I feel he's getting into one of his "rants" - the agreement is that he has to stop talking immediately and I will leave the room, give it 10 mins and then we'll discuss the issue (if there is one - 9/10 times there isn't and it's purely his frustration)

We also have one in place for the girls, if he starts on them and they or I feel its unjust we just say "backdown" and walk away.

It's helped him realise how often the rants can happen and we've learnt to tie them in with his moods/stress/pain levels.

On a similar note - Fuddle - as my girls got older and more "trying" we used a code word that indicated that they were emotional/stressed/needed time out without questions. They could leave the room/table etc if they felt they needed to as long as they came and chatted to one or other of us about it later. It worked wonders when they just needed time out from family life.

I've been feeling very uneasy for a few days, lots of little things piling up and I'm finding it hard to give them all the headspace they need. A couple of close friends are going through some really tough times at the moment and I want to be more "there" for them but I can't find the empathy (sounds awful but both situations are their own doing). I feel like cutting my ties with both of them but that's not the answer. Ah well, I'm sure a double decker and a glass of wine will make the world better :)

  • SHEILA I know you're a funny old lot, He Who Knows was born and raised in Saxmundham!!!! You're also the salt of the earth and the best people I know, on the other side of that particular coin.

GQ take 5 and rest up a bit, the housework, allotment and ironing will still be there for when you feel better, but to feel better you are going to need time out from life , so take it!!!

POOKY you have so much that you deal with uncomplainingly and loyally, it is no wonder that other folks problems are a bit of a burden, heavens pet, it's hard enough coping with your own let alone being there for others, be kind to yourself and don't let them get under your skin, wish them well, but let them sort it out thierselves, better for you??? Cheers Lyn xxx.

Just a quick pop in this morning as I am working at 7. I have woken up feeling a little better, still tired tho. The sun is shining lovely outside, so I hope it will still be out when I finish at lunchtime.

Tomorrow it a full 14 hour day and think this is what making me so tired. I am only contracted for 18 hours but I often do nearly that in 1 day. Maybe I need to say just once I don't want to do any extra hours.

have lovely day everyone, and enjoy the sunshine in case is moves on again!!!

    Morning All,

I'm feeling quite good today, as I have no plans requiring me to leave the house. It will be a full day of work and then a nice dinner featuring a new recipe. It is not predicted to be nice today, although I haven't peeped round the curtains yet. Might start the morning with a quick patrol of the garden to see what is what. I just found a broccoli sprout yesterday, and the lettuce should be getting its third leaves in the next day or so. The peppers, hot and spicy, seem to be blissfully slug free thus far. In my seedling pots I have a cucumber sprout. I know these will be going in late, but I've got my fingers crossed! A good friend with an allotment is coming for tea on Sunday and bringing me some of her leftover plants and seeds so I'll be putting those in my milk carton contraption.

Mrs LW Can rhubarb be frozen after it is cooked in the slow cooker? I realized yesterday I didn't have quite enough to cook it that way so I will get some more on Saturday if I have a way of storing the extra. I'm afraid my slow cooker is a rather large model!

The house is slowly getting unpacked--a few small boxes here and there, and I haven't hung any pictures or mirrors yet. This weekend I will be solving my great desk debacle. When I first started my course, I found a free desk on gumtree. It is a huge farmouse table. It could do with being refinished, but I love the thing. Unfortunately, the base of it will not fit upstairs in this house. I tried disassembling it at the joints, but it has proven too much of a job for me. I felt pretty low about that until I asked a furniture repair company for a quote and they said they couldn't do it either. So, the solution is that I will get some table legs for £2.50 each at Ikea and use the top upstairs. Downstairs I've covered the base with some extra shelf boards, popped on a table cloth and it will be a sideboard...a sideboard bigger than our dining table--but it will be useful nonetheless. I'm still not 100% pleased with myself, I always feel I should be better at DIY projects, but at least I've found a solution that won't cost us much money until we're in a better position to afford it.

My next project is to figure out the bedroom curtains. They are my least favourite colour ever, burnt orange. The carpet is also that colour, but we've managed to solve that by putting another large rug my parents gave us down. I've thought about replacing the curtains, but they are thick, heavy and line proper curtains, they keep the light out and they will keep the heat in. So now I'm scheming various plans to hang something nicer over them. Hopefully I'll come up with something!

Hugs to all who need them. I hope you each get a chance to put your feet up and just stare at the garden for a few minutes today!

    Morning all.

(((((((((HUGS TO EVERYONE WHO NEEDS THEM)))))))))))

I assumed that today was an easy day for me to just potter about. However i've just noticed that we have the estate agent out for the quarterly checks they do. This has sent me into a panic.

Hope everyone else is having a good day & stay safe xx x
