Fuddle, your daughter will have forgotten about it before morning playtime, probably even before registration, it's usually a case of "in one ear and out the other" , well thats definitely the case with my daughters and granddaughters anyway, myself - I find I dwell on these things all day until I see them again and know they're fine. Daft aint it. xxx

    Morning :)

Nutty sorry to read of the disappointment you and your family are feeling but just wanted to say that something always turns up and in most cases for the better!

Do Maris piper potatoes make ok jacket potatoes? They are all I have and wanted to use up the chives for a cheese and chive topping for lunch. Only thing is I don't have a microwave (no work bench space for it) so it will have to be done in the oven, so if so I'll have to make up a batch of them to freeze to make it worth while.

So is it worth it using those potatoes?

I'm feeling dreadful. Had a big fallout with eldest DD about her attitude right before school and haven't had time to make up. It's going to be with me all day now. In really worried about me coping in the teenage years she's 9 in Sept and has a shocking set of angst facial expressions and body language already! I'm strict where rudeness and attitude is concerned and wondering if that is making it worse. Should I just TRY to ignore the strops? My worry is if I ignore them she will think they are acceptable and do them all the more.

I stupidly wrote myself a rota for cleaning last night. Today is bathroom day. Oh joy.

Oh and looking good on paper? On paper we look appalling but we're a grounded, calm and peaceful couple who take care of whatever it is they have, conscientious in whatever ever we do but non if that matters because we live in a society deemed by risk and stereotypes.
  • POPS you might try contacting the camera manufacturer and see if they might send you a replacement part for the broken one, if it's only tiny they might do it for free??? I always say if you ask and they say no, you're no worse off then if you hadn't asked!

FUDDLE the only thing I ever found that worked with the girls on the odd occasion they were that stroppy was sanctions, removal and confiscation of thier most prized posessions, first until they behaved, after that if it was the same offence, it was for a week at a time and it didn't take long for them to realise that the consequences of misbehaving were uncomfortable for them, it's harder for you to stand firm, but it only takes a couple of times usually for the penny to drop. You have to remain consistent though, if they even once try it on again, a week at a time is a good deterrent. Also, TV sanctions work well, not letting them watch thier favourite programmes is really hard for them, not wanting to be unkind, but removing something they value for a while won't hurt them will it? Cheers Lyn xxx.

Hi everyone, well things have changed here already. My mum has just offered my DD a deposit as a gift for a house. So they are now looking at some repossession homes, as they are often cheaper as the agents want quick sales. I know, not nice that some one has lost their 'forever' home. We lost ours some 15 years ago.

I am doing a proper cooked tea tonight as I am at home, we are having sausages with yorkies, new pots and peas.

    Take care x

Fuddle - she'll have forgotten all about it by the time she gets home.

Alfsmum - i know how you feel hun, i had a panic attack today when i was picking ds2 from school. It was absolutely awful.

Went and did some shopping today and spent a whopping £80 and got nowt  but at least we have about 3kilo's of cheese to be going on with. Its tax credits time so stocked up on dried and tinned food. Can't afford to buy much not after spending money last night. One good think though the cats are sorted food wise for the next four weeks.

Just had some awful news, found out my auntie has got a week to live. My sister phoned to tell me, so going to over and visit her later on. She was a rock when my adoptive mother (her sister,my nana) died, she is really my great auntie but spent a lot of time with her growing up.

So many people dying around me its unreal. What sad news for a miserable cold day.

alfsmum Big hugs. I hope you get a chance to put your feet up and relax a bit after pushing yourself. Just because something is easy for others doesn't lessen the fact that it is an achievement for you. I still have to remind myself of this all of the time! Anyway, well done:T

ArthriticOldThing If you don't find any for free, perhaps look for one that is refurbished or in a repo shop? I had to buy a wm when we moved here and was dreading it--I ended up finding a refurbished one with a long warranty for a reasonable price. Right after we moved in the Iron went--right before OH went to do his shirt for work the next day:eek: We had everything in boxes, it was late and everything was chaos--I ended up doing it with hair straighteners and then a colleague suggested a repo shop near us. We got a really good one for not much money which is good because our budget can't handle much of that this summer!

SavingQueen Glad to have helped. I just wish I'd figured it out sooner. Also glad the pizza trick worked!

NuttyP what great news, good luck to you all!

Back from the doctor, first time meeting him. He was very nice and didn't seem at all concerned by my periodic problems with asthma. Did some errands on the way home and got a father's day card in the post, hopefully it will make it there in time. Managed to avoid getting on a bus to the big DIY store and found everything in pound shops. Going to do a bit more work and then go on slug patrol before dinner time. We've got either salmon or ratatouille as options for dinner tonight, so will see what OH fancies.

Things feel as if they're going well, but I never trust that feeling. If I haven't got something to worry about then I'm worried about whatever it is that I have forgotten to worry about! :rotfl: I'm trying to stay more positive though--hence resolving to get on here more often. I tell my OH sometimes about what I'm reading and he says it is so depressing to hear about people struggling, but i don't think so, it makes me feel much happier to see others supporting each other, and it makes me feel more confident that something I've figured out might contribute, even just a little bit--and likewise I don't know how much advice I've gotten off OS so thanks all!

Its time's like this when you come to relies that other "worries" are really nothing to be so concerned over. Loosing a loved one isn't fair!

I am mentally drained. Over the past 48 hours i've been dealing with letters, phone calls, emails & trying to overcome the feeling of being useless and stupid and actually allowing my partner & I to get into this state! I could kick myself...Hard..!

I heard a saying on the radio this morning which now has made me doubt alot of things in my life.....GOD ONLY GIVES US WHAT WE CAN HANDLE!
If that is the case, I must have been bloody awful in a past life! :D

I'm now trying to deal with a selected few of my family members who seem to be metal bullies. They play crafty games which in turn makes them appear like the most loyal and loving people until you trip up about something.< This is a whole different thread, But their really getting me down. Hope everyone is having a good en! x
