FUDDLE I'd settle for a smaller rainbow and slightly less of the wet stuff if I could!!!!!
PX87 we've never had insurance for selling the surplus veg, it had never occured to me we would need it and we've not had any problems, I don't know the legal position though, obviously if you do need it that would obviate any gain from the selling, I'm sure someone will know though and tell us, Cheers Lyn xxx.0 -
Sorry to hear that NuttyP. I'm sure something will come along soon.
Princess--Well done! I know exactly what you mean. I keep all of our bills in a spread sheet and once a month my OH and I sit down and transfer everything to the account where the direct debits are, work out shopping money for the month etc. I know he always dreads it, and if I'm honest I don't enjoy it either, but it is always such a good feeling to know we're on top of the next month or so and have a plan for what is getting paid and how. It was a bit of a project for me to get him on board, and the first time we did it was tough.
Lisakay--I'm thinking of doing a few edible flowers in my wall. We eat a lot of salads here and I think they could be a nice luxurious touch!
Our weather looks grey as well. It isn't drippy yet, but I'm sure that is on the way. I wouldn't mind so much if I had some assurance that at least a few days a week would be proper summer.:rotfl:
Last night was nice, although the jazz turned out to be some sort of loud hip hop dj show. Otherwise, a nice evening and nice to see some friends we hadn't had a chance to catch up with lately. Of course, this morning I'm paying for the late bedtime!
Plan for today is some writing this morning, and then I've got the doctor at 2. May go to the big orange DIY store after that for a few bits we need around the house. Some washers for a project and some hooks to hang the milk carton poles on. Haven't decided what to use for poles as I haven't seen anything suitable about the house. Of course, it might take us awhile to use enough milk cartons. This idea would pop up just after the recycling week.:p0 -
Meant to say, Pops, would a rubber band work? Might be easier to remove and replace when you need to open the door. I guess it depends on how the camera is shaped. Just a thought.0

Morning
Nutty sorry to read of the disappointment you and your family are feeling but just wanted to say that something always turns up and in most cases for the better!
Do Maris piper potatoes make ok jacket potatoes? They are all I have and wanted to use up the chives for a cheese and chive topping for lunch. Only thing is I don't have a microwave (no work bench space for it) so it will have to be done in the oven, so if so I'll have to make up a batch of them to freeze to make it worth while.
So is it worth it using those potatoes?
I'm feeling dreadful. Had a big fallout with eldest DD about her attitude right before school and haven't had time to make up. It's going to be with me all day now. In really worried about me coping in the teenage years she's 9 in Sept and has a shocking set of angst facial expressions and body language already! I'm strict where rudeness and attitude is concerned and wondering if that is making it worse. Should I just TRY to ignore the strops? My worry is if I ignore them she will think they are acceptable and do them all the more.
I stupidly wrote myself a rota for cleaning last night. Today is bathroom day. Oh joy.
Oh and looking good on paper? On paper we look appalling but we're a grounded, calm and peaceful couple who take care of whatever it is they have, conscientious in whatever ever we do but non if that matters because we live in a society deemed by risk and stereotypes.0 -
Fuddle - Maris Pipers are perfect for jacket spuds.Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0

Don't know if this will help - but at least you know you are not alone!

Sorry if my quote came across horrible, I was meant to saythat the other family “MAY” look good on paper – However that doesn’t mean itmakes them good tenants. I feel for them as I was once in their shoes and knowjust how hard it can be. In our case we were renting privately and every housewe chose was for a good reason IE- Near family – work etc.
One house we applied for was given to a different couple onthe understanding that they came across better on paper. However less than 4months into the property they had moved out and trashed the place after adispute with the landlord.
Once again apologises if I came across as the wrong way.
Future goals:
Become debt free.
Beat Depression.
Be happy & healthy0 -
I knew what you meant princess. We've been in a similar situation--we don't look good on paper but we're very mindful and careful with our money..and like fuddle, we take care of things. Paper isn't always the best indicator of who will be the best tenants.
Just a thought, NuttyP, have you looked on Gumtree for private landlords in your area? I have actually had success that way a couple of times--and once had success posting an ad of my own, but of course it may not be as useful in smaller communities.0 -

You know I've never joined a parenting website but I think it's time I did. I will read that link after the ironing and bathroom.
I have good news actuallyI don't know whether you noticed but I've been using my phone for the past few months (I tried to proof read before I sent so Timothy didn't appear, some slipped through when I was rushed but hopefully not too bad for you all to understand) to access the internet as the laptop MIL gave us broke down completely.
I dug it out last night and had a fiddle, removed all the stuff on the harddrive and found it loaded up very quickly and with ease. Brill! Not, I managed to delete all the internet/wireless info and being an ancient laptop I didn't know how to reconnect (it has a card in the side for connection to router) but in the past 30 minutes I have fiddled and fixed it. I type TYPE to you right this minute.
I'm excited because I need access to word for my childminding policy writing and all the paperwork. Now I just need to buy a printer and hope that this machine will last till I can begin bringing some money in.
My family members don't understand why I don't just use the emergency fund when something breaks. My reply is that there is always a way, right here and now a laptop isn't an emergency and if we used our savings for every little thing that went belly up we'd have nothing left... and I like the security of having that pot of money sat there doing nothing.
So, off to get those spuds in the oven, iron (while catching up on the apprenticeclean bathroom, look for an avatar (any ideas what suits me right now?) join a parenting website, walk dog and hoover down stairs.
Tea tonight? frozen fish and chips with tinned mushy peas and sliced bread - not OS but I scratch cook daily, fancy a 'chuck in' meal tonight
Edit to add: aw princess, it wasn't horrible at all. I agree that what is on the 'paper' is what is important in many peoples eyes, just it's so far away from what people are really like that it's a pretty poor indicator of a tenant in favour for risk of tenancy payments.
Nutty LL from Hell came from Gumtree. When the SHTF financially and we lost the house we had no other option but to go through gumtree because letting agents wouldn't touch us. There are so many properties on there so well worth a look. My LL wasn't always awful. Remember we lived there for over 3 years quite happily till the end and the damp became a real concern and then he played horrible games. I bet there's loads on there that could be quite dandy for your DD0 -

Thanks for the idea. If you saw how tiny the door is...the little plastic tags that are used on the door flap are too small and soft, they break too easily but you have to use the door over and over to attach a usb cable to either connect to a pc to charge the battery or transfer pictures from the camera to the pc.
I'll keep that in mind, I am using that invisable scotch tape at present. And the amount used is so tiny the roll will last years. Its so annoying that an otherwise great camera has been spoilt by such a small fault and a Sony one at that!"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy.
