The sky is leaden grey, and it's been dripping ALL day, it's windy and feels more like October than june, and my bed of foxgloves are all dancing a jig and dripping. The lurcher is getting a bit surly about going walkies, you can see that look of doggie disbelief on his face when you offer him out, 'you cannot be serious' is what it says, with one hairy eyebrow raised in scepticism, and I'm cold Brrrrrrrrrr. I wants the warm bit back please, please pretty please!!!!!
But Lyn if you want the rainbow you have to put up with the rain. No, I agree, thats taking positivity to the extreme.
MrsC might you be able to show us when your milk bottle planters are done.
Thanks for the pumice toilet cleaning idea0 -
I found some metal hooks in Wilko, ones used for hanging up garden tools. The were five for a pound so got them in the hope they will work for hanging my milk bottle poles - I am going pallet hunting tomorrow. OH is under strict orders not to throw away milk bottles. I will have a strawberry wall!
I am planning a STrawberry pyramid from milk bottles next year - Dad is working on the timber prototype for me LOL

I'm going to run a wooden broom handle through the handles MG, and use the hooks to rest the broom handles on at each end - I am hoping to get three rows down one pallet, I just need to work out a way to keep the pallet standing upright, probably by pegging it to the ground through the back. I have not got a handy man (just OH :rotfl:), so everything is going to be a bit basic!
Will do pics when it's done FuddleThink big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Hi all im jealous of all the great veggie growers. I'm starting out OH took us to the play centre. It was good chatting to other parents while OH played on his phone. The boys really enjoyed themselves.
Then we did something really naughty, one of the parents asked us to have, lunch in the pub with them.had a, shock even my OH agreed to east, with us. To so the eight of us sat and chatted for about two hours.
It was really good, were on about meeting up for, lunch with the kids again.
thanks to everyone for building up my confidence0 -
Evening toughies - its taken me two hours to catch up and I have forgotten all my replies
D&DD - ((Hugs)) we lose Tc when DD 18 goes to Uni too, it worries me but I just keep thinking I will find a way lol
Thank you to the person who posted the milk bottle thing - its excellent and definitely on my to do list.
I had a run in with my mother today who told me I didnt know what I was talking about - she called my OH to ask him to be executor of their will as she cant ask me as I am a beneficiary! I called her back and said please do not do that, its inappropriate, as far as I am aware there is nothing stopping a beneficiary being an executor, besides which what if OH and I split up?? Not to mention the fact he does not have the capacity to understand the documents.
She went on to say I knew nothing, that it wouldnt matter as they were appointing the solicitor as the second one ( I assume he gets to charge a fortune for this privilege) and that OH would not be splitting up so its not an issue - I pointed out that she couldnt predict the future and that if I decided to divorce I would not be consulting them.
Then she announced that as it was fathers day Sunday we were expected to bring the kids for tea as the kids wanted to come. I was firm and said no, its OH fathers day too and he has asked to go out somewhere nice, we will call with a card etc but we will not be eating with you. She then got huffy so I pointed out that every year on MOthers day and fathers day we have to give up our special time to do what they want, this year I am putting us first.
I also told her she could do what she wanted with the will as it was their will but if they went ahead with OH I would not co-operate with it. I told her I was sure she wasnt listening to me anyway as if she asked what colour the sky was and I replied blue she would still want three other people to tell her it was blue and then she would tell me that she told me so all along.
I have my big event tomorrow and today has been a day of disasters everything has gone wrong - I just hope this means everything will go swimmingly tomorrow.0 -
Oh kidcat well done for standing firm x
Shegar. you absolutely can eat flowers, lots of them. :P chive, nasturtium (sp?) lavender, dandelion, fuschia (and fuschia berries are also edible, some are sweet and some are a bit bitter depending on variety) violet I think along with lots of others.

so...I've discovered that jogging has a similar effect to diazepam. covered 3.4 miles this morning before work and felt good all day.
made 2rhubarb crumbles last night and a rhubarb cake with crumble topping, even the kids enjoyed that and they're not big cake lovers(I know, whoever heard of kids that didn't like cake lol)
off to bed now because I want to be up early to take the girls to toast club (free before school club and they get fed, but they wont leave house without breakfast so days they go there they eat 2 breakfasts lol) so I can get out early, going to jog to the lotty to water greenhouse then see how far I can run before work.freecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
Just a quick thought D&DD I read somewhere earlier this week something along the lines of TCs are payable until age 20 if they are not going to work or entering higher Ed, as it didnt apply to us (DD is going uni) I didnt really read it all - is it possible that as your DS will be in hospital and then recovering that you may be eligible for a little longer which would take some pressure off? Good luck0

Morning everyone, we have lots of wind and light rain. Not gonna be a nice day by the looks of it. It would rain on my only day off work!!
DD got a phone call from the estate agent, they have gone with the other people as they said they were better on paper. No idea what that means, oh well the hunt continues...... To say DD was upset at the comment was an understatement. She does however have 2 ladies who work within estate agents as clients so she is going to chat to them to see if they can give her the heads up if any other properties come up.
Mum has rang to say she needs to go food shopping so will pick her up and go to aldi. at least we know she has proper food to eat.BSC member 137

Morning all
Rubbish weather here today. Yesterday was chilly and damp so i'm guessing today will be the same.
First night, Last night that OH & I managed to sleep. Its amazing how much you change inside once you start getting your life (For whatever reason) under control. I wrote all the letters out that i needed to yesterday - Along with the first payments and now i can start focusing on creating more of an income.
Still haven't heard anything about DLA. I'm popping over to the D&D thread shortly to find out further information.
Was speaking to my OH last night about the cherries, He's decided this year he's pickling eggs, onions ect that we'll use over the festive season.
He suggested that we might need insurance to sell the remaining cherries incase someone gets ill ect.? Do you know if this is the case?
Anyways off to sort the ironing pile, Speak soon & stay safe all x xFuture goals:
