Evening All!
Welcome to all the newbies, you are in the right place for any amount of help, advice and support along with many laughs.
Mar - that rose of yours - did you notice, was there much of a root ball? I bought to roses yesterday and planted them today. One was fine, but when I tipped out the second one the soil fell away and there were little or no roots - but lots of horrid vine weevil grubs. Little perishers had scoffed all the roots. I planted anyway, in vain I fear. I phoned the nursery and they will replace when they get some more in (we took the last two of the variety). Just a thought that yours may have had the same problem and it might not have been the RVs fault...
Another lovely day here, we have both been busy with one thing or another and I only really had time to plant the roses. I must get some more earth up to the top garden to earth up the potatoes, it's all sitting at the bottom of the ladder in buckets, waiting for OH to heave them up for me... I get the feeling the job is not at the top of his to-do list!
Lets hope this lovely weather continues for at least a few days more, it's doing everyone lots of good:).Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Not to annoy but four others that I know in my street/close by are in homes larger than me, are single and rented longer than me from same council/HA and this has not happened to them. So go figure...Those who know think its funny and my MP's office does too.
Will see how tomorrow goes...

AOT sorry I didn't welcome you earlier, sorryto hear about your husband passing away. they it's a lovely called jackie o who has been through the same, as yourself. Shes lovely and normally posts on the daily thread, I'm sure she won't if you message her x
Honestly princess and aot, posting on here has saved my sanity. The, people posting have honestly become really good friends. Even though they make me laugh so much I choke on my tea.
We have literally spent our day playing in the sun.
Scraped the saving s jar and ds2 bought OH three pc games for £10 and a caving book. All for a, whopping £35.
I ahem managed, to look myself out ofl the automatic doors on th:oe bus station. honestly it could happen to me, but at least I didn't walk into the glass doors this time.0 -

Evening toughies and welcome to the new peeps! wcs, so nice to see you back, too!
I think so many of us are in similar positions with regard to money issues to one degree or another, stress/depression/anxiety caused by the latter, family, work, etc., and it's smashing to be part of this band of brothers (a quote, girls!) who all take turns in being or needing a shoulder to cry on. I am, mostly, a SAHM, but constantly feel I have to justify that, esp when people hear how little income we're on; sometimes hard to do but I'm convinced it's the right thing for us, fuddle, hun, stick at it with me!
I know I've a long uphill journey to get me and my brain back to full operating capacity, but there is light at the end of tunnel, I'm thankful to say. The last week or two of better weather helps a lot, along with ADs and vitamins, a few fresh fruit and veg!

Right now cheapskate I'm a stay at home mum who assists, her self employed partner for free. It's, hard but to be honest if I work it would cost us a, small fortune in childcare. I find it rewarding and my boys love the, fact that, I'm there, for, them. Daft thing is so does my OH, even though, he, wont admit it lol
Monnogran what, you like, let off the lease for one minute and, your off causing havoc. which is just how it should be
Pops yes it was, the one in middlesbrough, my eldest was in the stitches. I was, chatting to my uncle, he's a bus driver, when the, doors shut behind me. my uncle was laughing too , luckily a bus driver pushed really close top the door and the, sensor opened the door. I nearly died of embarassment, why dodoors have, to be so technical.
Funny though
Thanks pops ill look into the, kite festival, think durham might be, to much for the, lad s.0 -

I feel like I'm going round in circles. If there's 5 of you in the vacinity occupying 4+ bed roomed houses when single and only one is getting checked then surely its down to all of your black bin liners on the premises. Please stop thinking they are out to get you and that you are being treat unfairly because it is unhelpful to you. They are going by their rules and policies. They said you were making progress, said they were happy with what you had done so far but they're concerned about the garage breaching health and safety. Fair do's pops. You moved it all to the loft now so as long as you keep quiet about that today's visit should be the last, yeah?
Give yourself a break.
I've got to go sort my own mams house out tomorrow and the thought is turning my stomach. I'm so angry at having to give up my weekend and really rather bitter about the fact that she had half term off work last week and spent it watching TV and drinking, by her own admission. Someone mentioned al anon a few weeks ago. It's an hour round trip and a lot of petrol but seriously thinking I need to go. I'd be scared but I'm more scared at what it's doing to me mentally.
Plan for tea is carbonara so need recipe , have some bacon pieces in the freezer so that's good.
I am having a battle with the headlice on DD's hair still. I comb through every couple of days and always find something. MIL treat with vinegar last week (not heard of that) but last night I pulled out 20 approx fully fledged lice. I'm losing the battle so have paid £6.20 inc delivery for nitty gritty comb. The testimonials were great and knowing the chemicals didn't work I feel it's my only, any very weak, option.
Keep chipper huh? Only little problems in the grand scheme of things. My 4 walls and family life are hunky dory so I shall be greatful for that0 -
I mostly agree Fuddle:)
There's not that much. There wasn't in the first place and not that much has been moved into the loft. Nor was much of it in "Bin bags" but with limited mobility it takes me longer to shift. What took the time is shredding. In fact after today I bet my home is one of the most empty in the N. East.
I take your point and you are not going around in circles...honest. The break will be short lived as I want it totally gone but in the wheelie bins so I don't have to pay to have it taken away. It won't be replaced.:)
Health permitting I am going to the event in Darlington on Saturday and Durham on Sunday to forget about this week. Or I'll sleep for days...I am really tired.
Wishing you well for the job you have ahead too and looking forward to hearing that it is successful and is a one off...
Your meal sounds nice, I hope to make more of an effort tonight and use up some vegetables I have already cut so I just need to steam or boil them so it should be easy.
The plan is this will be the end of my little saga of recent weeks...more and more is falling into place."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

Morning all, overcast and breezy here but supposed to brighten later. I've got to wait in for a parcel so it's a bit of garden pottering and making some new bits for my kitchen (going to make a couple of round table cloths which will be fun measuring with kittens about)
Little fluffy kitten went to the vets yesterday, they gave us some laxative for her and had a prod and probe, she felt very poorly after that and spent the afternoon curled up in her basket next to me. She doesn't normally like me much, preferring DH for strokes and cuddles but she stuck to me all day and night. Had to carry her out to the garden at 3am as she was getting agitated but no movement. She's had some food this morning (mixing water in with her wet food to get liquids in) and she's let me give her a brush (she's stopped grooming herself and is a knotty tangle). These animals sure know how to tug at our hearts don't they.
Going to make pizzas for tea tonight, have 5 small slices of pepperoni, 3 rashers of bacon and half a tin of ham that can be used up....add plenty of peppers and onions and a little goes a long way."Start every day off with a smile and get it over with" - W. C. Field.0 -
Morning Toughies, we've been up since extremely silly o'clock with a long lasting rumbly thunderstorm which has really unsettled the lurcher, poor old boy!!! The sky outside still looks leaden so I am expecting more rain imminently which probably means we'll have to cut the lawns again in the near future.
POPS hope it all goes well with the visit today and that you can then achieve closure of what has been a very uncomfortable and anxious time for you. Is McCulloch coming to be with you again? I always feel a problem shared is easier to deal with than a problem dealt with on your own that continues to grow as your discomfiture grows with it.
FUDDLE the headlice are persistent little horrors and it's mindbending trying to get rid of them, I wonder if you would be better getting something really strong from the GP as the proprietary over the counter products aren't shifting the perishers. Is there still the facility for the school to help? I know way back when mine were little the school always had a stock of lotions in and the only time we had a problem they gave us bottle of jollop and the instruction to treat all four of us, including He Who Knows beard to make sure we killed off every possible offender. It's a long road though isn't it?
KEZ I'm really NOT sitting here giggling at the thought of you walking into the glass doors at the bus depot, really truly I'm also NOT sitting her giggling at the fact they got thier own back by locking you out, promise, honest I'm not even vaguely amused by that at all --- by the way about this tendancy to tell fibs!!!!!!!
MONNAGRAN really proud of you and your school reunion, go those girls, not many folks can empty a restaurant at our age, hope it was as much fun as it sounds!!!!!
Off to town today for some groceries, I would have got them yesterday but our L*dl had a problem with thier card machines and were only accepting cash payments and I'd very little cash on me so could only buy a few basics. Will try A*di this morning and if needs get He Who Knows to come and collect me, I can't carry the heavy loads so well these days even deploying the big rucksack. Good news (well for us anyway) we won the pub quiz again last night so my christmas fund is looking nicely healthy. I'm saving it all up so I have enough for the food without having to put in extra cash from the housekeeping!!! Have a good one all, Cheers Lyn xxx.0
