morning all!
its another gorgeous day here
Carol Smiley can swan off with her chance of heavy rain in the north east.
DS2 was chuffed today, for the first time a month he was able to climb on the logs. He insisted on holding my hand, poor mite was scared in case he fell. Smiles all round
Well that's four presents sorted for OH's birthday on Monday, the boys chose his gifts so i'm sure he will like them.
DS2 wants to buy a bbq as well so his daddy can have birthday burgers. So cute, i said we'll have to see in case it rains.
Sorry about all the commas and grammatical errors, I've been using my phone to post. Its a nightmare:o
Yes lynn i'm sure you weren't laughing, but i was! :rotfl:
My OH was p!ssing himself laughing at me. He said it could only happen to you.
I mean fair enough walking into the glass doors was bad enough, but locking myself out is even worse!
DS1 said he's never going to the bus station with me again, i'm too embarrassing. I take that as job well donein the mum department :rotfl:
Princess thats exactly what i do, make a list of things for the day and slowly work my way through. That way i feel like i have accomplished something.
So today my list is
Phone council tax
Phone ds1 school
Hang the blanket over the line
complete paper work for business
phone up natwest and cancel home insurance renewal.
make chorizo and chickpea curry
make chorizo and chickpea soup
Check / amend meal plan for the next few days.
Once i have done this i see what else needs doing and take it bit by bit. If it all doesn't get done then so be it. I just think at least i've accomplished one thing that wouldn't have been done.0 -
Thank you so much for the link CUL8TR, I will take some time to read later this afternoon post chores.
To think I asked Kez to take me to the bus station so I would feel less anxious. Doh! lol. Don't worry Lyn, we've been howling on the blower this morning, 'tis very funny.
My nice neighbour has knocked to let me use her sprinkler device. The girls were running in the garden with the hose (my beautiful windows!) yesterday so thought to let them dodge the sprinklers this afternoon. Isn't that nicethey'll be chuffed. Please don't tell me off for using the hose. I conserve water as best I can but we're having such a lovely period of weather and the children can enjoy some real fun for a change
I have decided not to go to my mams tomorrow. I think swear word it. I'm not going into it because I have nothing to worry about and everything to be thankful for. I think about my friends who have real problems and I hope you're all having a contented day.
Pops on your blog you mentioned that you had been up the ladder putting all the thing in the loft. Knowing that you had black bin liners of things in the garage I put two and two together and made 5, apologies.0 -
Wow Princess, you are doing well, shame the lappy crashed but Step change may well have saved the details you already put in - crossing fingers for you! Glad your future MIL is supportive, thats lovely.
Fuddle Wilkies do an attachment for the end of a hose pipe that does all different kinds of sprays and its only about £1.99 the kids would love it ( I know I do) No one would begrudge the littlies some fun with the sprinkler, you can save water another day - the fun is worth it. Tell you what I wont put the washer on today and I will use the shower instead of the bath then that allows for you to let them play - is that a deal? :rotfl:
Im basically going to do as little as possible today as I have been running to catch up with myself all week. Just got to mop the kitchen floor which should take all of 10 minutes.Clearing the junk to travel light
Saving every single penny.
I will get my caravan0 -
Vjsmum - I would use the card as a topper and buy a set of plain card, attach your pretty ones to the front using foam pads for a bit of depth.
Am reading and running as I have meetings all day and have been up most of the night again so am dropping.
Hope everyone has a good day, good luck pops0 -
No worries Fuddle, If you are doing what pleases you and your family that is worth much more than having hassle that is un-necessary. So lets hope that the weather stays fine and your children have fun with the hose.
Its awful that simple pleasures sometimes have to be curtailed on the worry of cost or environmental concerns...if it can be done, enjoy it.:)
The bags were mainly half size and stronger than the usual type and more has been thrown out than kept and that will continue asap. TBH I cleared the loft before putting the new stuff in there.
And its lighter and not as much. I cleared my record collection and also the remaining video tapes that were not collected some weeks ago.
My neighbour was sorry to hear we'd taken the records to the tip and they could have gone into a car boot sale but I just wanted everything gone and didn't like anything being here after their attitude. I have actually got rid of stuff that I probably could have kept so they don't realise how good I have been.
Good news my friend is coming again as the repairman arrived earlier than we orginally thought. So as long as they don't arrive before she arrives I have moral support.:)"A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

VJ's Mum you could buy a pack of card blanks from The Works (or do Poundland sell them perhaps?) and stick the postcards to the front of a blank.
We've been making use of our British Gas contract today before I cancel it all. We had to have appliances etc covered when we ran the catering business as we couldn't be without stuff, but now I shall cancel the extras. Can't move the boiler cover though as it's 25+ years old and nobody will cover us. The electrician came for a light that wasn't working, and also changed the old living room light (which buzzed so terribly we never used it) to another we had for free. And the plumber came this morning and fixed something or other which was causing a huge noise in the pipes whenever hot water was run. Both had been faulty for ages so wish we'd got them sorted before. I had been trying to book appointments online for weeks and also got £30 compensation for that so am feeling relatively happy with British Gas at the moment. Today's jobs:
Tidy bedrooms upstairs - done
Put all washing away - done
2 lots of washing on - done
Clean toilets - done
Paint shed - doing
Bunny-proof cables
Plant tomato plants
Buy fish tank cleaner - done
It's a beautiful sunny day here, long may it last.0 -
I'm shattered, been on the phone all morning trying to sort out CT, what a nightmare, i now have to phone up on monday instead.
contacted the school to say look i can't get an appointment with gp, so i can't get a letter to say that ds1 can come to school . So i asked to see of he could come in as he's well, not infectious and the rash half way gone. The first aider had no idea about this letter and said well its since been 2 weeks so he should be fine. So just waiting for the school nurse to call and give us the say so.
Went out the back, oh i love the sun.
Replanted four cabbages, two have died courtesy of fat knacker. Dug more weeds out and moved bricks from raised bed. Shifted some of the mud over to the where the new lawn is going to go.
I couldn't do anymore as my back and legs were failing. Its looking good though0 -

I'm sorry to intrude on here again - my exH is an alcoholic (as is my maternal aunt and one of her cousins, and as was my paternal uncle - the family is riddled) so I was searching on alcoholics, and this thread came up a while back and I've sort of been lurking since.
I went to al-anon 6 years back when it first started dawning on me that H wasn't a heavy social drinker still stuck in bachelor mode but a full blown alcoholic (if I told you his behaviour at the time, you'd think me blind and idiotic not to realise this from the start, but as it is so prevalent in my family, I didn't recognise it as abnormal hey ho), I suffer from depression and social anxiety so going through those doors was utterly terrifying, but they were the most loving, non-judgemental bunch of people it has ever been my privalege to meet. you don't have to speak, you can sob through the whole thing or whatever you feel, and someone will have been through the same before, I wasn't able to continue going for very long, (and individual therapy has been more useful to me with all my other issues but it's pricey and hard to get on the NHS) but I do pop back from time to time.
they would appplaud you for not going to your mum's to clean up, as do I. Much of the way to deal with an alcoholic's behaviour seems counter-intuitive when it's someone you love. Al-anon and addiction specialists talk about not enabling the addiction by doing things for addicted people that as adults they should be doing for themselves, concentrating on your own well-being and not getting sucked into their crazy world and thinking (which at the same time could stop them experiencing the consequences of their actions and coming to realise that they need help). It's very hard to get used to, especially if you are used to being a wife/mother/daughter (or male equivalent) in that role, and it's hard not to feel that this approach is uncaring, but it has made my life umpteen-fold better.
In your example, cleaning up her house would be an excerice in futility, as she'd probably get it in that state all over again, keep her from experiencing the consequences of her decision to sit in mire drinking all day, and rob you of precious time of your own. so great decision!
I wish you all the best (p.m. me if you'd like the address of an online forum for friends and family of alcoholics, it's US based but there are people from all over the world on there).:AA/give up smoking (done)0 -
I don't know anything about alcoholics but I wanted to tell fuddle not to go. It is enabling and it is teaching her to carry on doing it and before you know it fuddle she will be moaning/nagging at you to do more or come more often. Don't start it pet.0
