Did you go to your MP pops?
I'd be worried about you sticking your head up and attracting attention over this. If I was you I'd take the garage visit, accept there have been problems, see it as they are doing their job and you've complied and they can't touch you.
The lad thing you want to do, given your way under occupying a property that is like gold dust, is ruffle feathers. Just my opinion. I bet Friday is the last visit for another year0 -
I have to agree with fuddle, you could cause more problems for yourself.
A bit of a weird day weather wise, first it was freezing misty and like a january morning. Now it's warmed up a bit.
Just put some bread in the oven, havent made bread for, ages.
Quickly knocked up some stew and leftovers from the roast on monday. OH just can't get his head around the, fact were on a right budget. Anyway hes full now at, least.
Stilt walker I know I should go, just scared of going out. I'm going with D and shes a really good friend. Shes the one who came over yesterday and, who I went out with last time.
I've got the back door open and it's so nice listening to the birds singing, asher heaven0 -
Its very very warm here today ,but we do have a bit of wind, its drying the ground out so very quickly.......
Im so tired and drained out last few days, think I know why ,this is my respite week , and the 2 weeks before it got here I was tired , so I think that ive probaly worn myself right out, havent got much energy at all, and my sugar levels keep going far too high......
Ive got a hospital appointment at 9 am on saturday morning, so need to get myself better for that as I dont want to miss it......Diabetic eye screening......
Perhaps I should have approached the social services couple weeks ago, but I know the councils are under budget pressure and I hate whinging that I need a week ASAP.......
Ive got 4 days left , im sure if I rest as much as I can this week I will be fine for next week........
Im not cooking tonight just for me , so I will probaly have a salad sandwich and couple yoghurts..........
I had lovely new tetter last night with my own home grown mint with salt and pepper, cor they were dam tasty with a couple slices of chicken and peas........:D
My little blue tits are now fledged in the garden , I will miss hearing them when mum comes to feed them.......:)..........Sheila0 -

I tried the magic cooker yesterday and it made a massive pot of beef stew. I had to add loads of veg to get the contents to a high level and found the liquid hardly reduced so will add less next time I use it.
I put a bolognese type sauce in it early this morning with mince, carrots. two large onions, two tins of tomatoes and a whole pack of mushrooms and still needed to add some lentils and porridge oats. Had planned to make lasagne but dd fancied taco shells filled with the mix, refried beans and cheese so we two are having that and DH is finishing off the stew. There should be enough to make a big lasagne tomorrow if I make a white sauce for it.
Found a YS chicken on trip to shops and might roast it tomorrow morning and then use it for salad for lunch and maybe packed lunches.
DH is fascinated by the idea of thermal cooking and impressed by the size of the meals it produced so far.
Instance of Serendipity when went to shop with youngest - she has been saying she needed sunglasses to sit in garden and could not get lift to shops till weekend. Saw Cosmopolitan in small supermarket here with "free sunglasses"! Three different types to choose from so well pleased.

Might be an idea to wait and see what happens with the visit before making inquiries."This site is addictive!"

They're jolly good aren't they ELONA? I love the idea of cooking for free after the initial prep on the stove. The only drawback with mine is it's just sooooooo big and there are usually only the two of us to feed and it gets a bit boring having the same dish 4 times in succession, having said that I could always freeze spare portions and microwave them to reheat later on, hope you are enjoying using yours, they don't call them magic cookers for nothing do they? Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Sheila I'm just so pleased you can get respite and the help is there when you need it. You're battling with your own illnesses and I admire all you do.
Reading pooky's OH's battles this morning also helped put into perspective.
I admire so many people on here because they just get on and do whatever it is that they have to do. Everyone is fighting their own battles but so many of you I admire and aspire to react in the way that you do with grit, but also with decorum and self respect.
For you to be on your knees Sheila and dithering whether to bother social services I just feel so torn 1) do it woman! Get the help you deserve 2) strong, strong independant self respecting lady that doesn't want to be a burdon.0 -
Sounds lovely Mrs Chip.
It's been sunny with cloudy interludes here today but a wind that was downright chilly and was blowing the trees sideways. I sat out in a sheltered bit of the garden with my parents at lunch time and got a bit "pink" around the edges.
DH was off to see his London consultants today, I'm not allowed to go with him via patient transport so he has to let the porters take care of him (train fare is nearly £50 return for the pair of us and would be far to long and uncomfortable for him). News wasn't fab as they're now basically waiting for him to get "bad" enough for a spinal op...."bad enough" in their eyes is triggered by complete loss of bowl and bladder control so that's something nice to look forward to! (as well as the complete loss of mobility and probable loss of use of one arm that they predict). But he's home now, tucked up in bed and tomorrow is another day......the day after that is yet another new day and we'll carry on one day at a time.
Made a gorgeous rissotto from chicken stock a couple of slices of bacon and a few handfuls of frozen veg. Tasty, filling and just the right amount of comfort value.
DD2 had English GCSE today, she's visibly deflated from the stress of the past week but already getting into a pickle over next weeks maths one. DD1 is booking Uni open day visits so I'll get to go with her and have a look around, she's not quite grasping the fact that as I don't drive and DH can only do 20miles or so that a more local Uni would be best.....I'm sure she'll change her tune when she takes on board the cost of train travel.
Sounds like your poor hubby and yourself are going through the mill right now , it sounds like he will only go in when he is absolute desperate , not right at all...... Also £50 is a lot of dosh for you......It cost me £15 round trip in the car ,our hospital is 52 mile round trip........
Well its been on the tea time news tonight that the NHS is also down on its knees, very worrying just what is going on with the government and NHS, at the end of the day its the patients health that will suffer.......
The ambulance service in the East is also on the news, patients having to have to wait so long before a ambulance attends, its just not good.....
I have to go to hospital with hubbys appointments , because his poor head cant retain information , so no way can he go it alone, plus his epilepsy.....
Well im off to bed real soon , better turn this off and go and shut all the doors, its lovely sitting here and can only hear the blackbird singing away happily.........Sheila0 -

That's my worry Fuddle, Elona and Kezlou, more people think it is strange and needs looking into...perhaps I'll see how the visit goes on Friday and decide after that."A government afraid of its citizens is a Democracy. Citizens afraid of government is tyranny!" ~Thomas Jefferson

I watched this documentary just now and explains why some people get lost in a bygone and OS era.....

Also these posts are very interesting....
http://www.meanqueen-lifeaftermoney.blogspot.co.ukI must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.0 -
I couldn't go that far - although our life here is very old fashioned compared to some. I remember outside toilets and freezing cold kitchens/bedrooms with lino and I don't want to go back there! But we do have plain old fashioned meals and the coal fire. The one thing I would take in a minute is a Range, although people who have them say they use a huge amount of coal.
I don't want to take the thread OT or start a medical discussion that will get us smacked - but I do need to say this ok? I know many in here have ME or other low energy problems and I wanted to share this. I started on Solgar Kelp tablets, one a day, about 5 weeks ago, and in the last fortnight I'm transformed. Not a slug any moreI've walked miles, fixed the whole garden, been up to Edinburgh for days out, and have tons of energy. I still get really wiped out after it - but the big diff is that after a rest or a sleep, I can do it all again. Now I've had ME for ten years and that has never been possible for me in that time.
I think maybe it means that I've had borderline low thyroid that hasn't shown up in the NHS tests. Either way - I have to share it in the hope it might help somebody else. Give your doc a quick phone first to check if it's suitable for you - I did that.
If anybody wants to ask more about this please PM me as I dont want us closed down !!!0
