Thanks Shegar - that's what we've done. And the watering. :) I went to see the sea today... had a lovely day at North Berwick sat at the harbour watching the boats coming and going. Then fish & chips and a cone. :)

Im sure it will survive......I find a lot of garden centre plants are very expensive, if I want anything now I do try the car boots first for cheapness, thats probaly why the garden centres are really feeling the pinch, but we have to think of our pockets before we line theirs........Sheila...

evening on this beautiful day toughies, thank you for all the London advice, I have it all printed off and am going to sit with it all on Friday when OH is paid and I book all the tickets for the days out.

I think my iron level has plummeted, I have absolutely no energy at all, was very lethargic yesterday when we went out with the kids but today I am like a limp lettuce.

Our little greenhouse has some really healthy plants growing - one of the tomato plants has a flower already, the lettuce are doing brilliantly but the peppers, courgettes and a few others have not even begun to sprout, am wondering if we should try again with new seeds as the ones I have used are last years leftovers.

Sheila - I am so glad you are having your break this week when the weather is good, I think you will benefit so much more from it :)

Mardatha - whoops with the rose but I am sure you will manage to rescue it,

Fuddle - last year DD7 was given a packet of wildflower seeds from school, I had some leftover compost that I flung in an old kitchen container and then chucked the seeds in - they got no looking after at all, and sprung up beautifully. You could just sprinkle them at the end of the garden and hope they grow.

Evening All - and by gum, what a beautiful evening it is here! We have just come down from the garden, the harbour looks stunning in the evening light. Not one cloud in the sky all day!

I spent the day in the garden, but at times it was so hot I just had to sit in a lounger:o:D. At 4.30 we decided it was so lovely it was time to break out the kayaks for the first time this year, and went for a paddle around the headland for an hour..

Then OH decided that salad would not do for a seafarer's dinner, so went to get kebabs:rotfl:. To be fair they are the first we have had for ages and ages, we used to have them regularly in London. So we sat in the garden to eat them and watched the Sea Cadets drilling on the carpark. We certainly get plenty of free entertainment here!

So glad everyone has been able to enjoy the beautiful weather, it lifts the spirits doesn't it? I'm not religious, but I do give thanks daily for how lucky we are, and days like today are so special.

    Sounds lovely Mrs Chip.

It's been sunny with cloudy interludes here today but a wind that was downright chilly and was blowing the trees sideways. I sat out in a sheltered bit of the garden with my parents at lunch time and got a bit "pink" around the edges.

DH was off to see his London consultants today, I'm not allowed to go with him via patient transport so he has to let the porters take care of him (train fare is nearly £50 return for the pair of us and would be far to long and uncomfortable for him). News wasn't fab as they're now basically waiting for him to get "bad" enough for a spinal op...."bad enough" in their eyes is triggered by complete loss of bowl and bladder control so that's something nice to look forward to! (as well as the complete loss of mobility and probable loss of use of one arm that they predict). But he's home now, tucked up in bed and tomorrow is another day......the day after that is yet another new day and we'll carry on one day at a time.

Made a gorgeous rissotto from chicken stock a couple of slices of bacon and a few handfuls of frozen veg. Tasty, filling and just the right amount of comfort value.

DD2 had English GCSE today, she's visibly deflated from the stress of the past week but already getting into a pickle over next weeks maths one. DD1 is booking Uni open day visits so I'll get to go with her and have a look around, she's not quite grasping the fact that as I don't drive and DH can only do 20miles or so that a more local Uni would be best.....I'm sure she'll change her tune when she takes on board the cost of train travel.

How short-sighted Pooky, and it must be terribly frustrating for your OH, knowing that he has to get to that stage before they will help.

OH now does volunteer driving for carers here - they are allowed one trip a week via the Cars for Carers scheme, and one via another scheme for people who cannot manage or have assess to public transport. Some of the rules though are very frustrating, like not being able to take them to hospital, because hospital transport are supposed to do that - but often can't .

Pooky - DS15 had the english exam today too, he didnt get it he said, they had to write about a place he really wanted to go and stay - he said well thats easy -my bedroom but I am not allowed to write about that and they wanted three pages!!! :)
We have a science one tomorrow and then DD18 has one on Thursday, its exam city here at the moment, between them DD and DS have an exam a day until 17th June.

University was easy for us, as DD18 knew we couldnt subsidise her at all and the grants/loans would not be enough to cover her living expenses if she lived away, and her course isnt flexible enough to allow her to get a job as she is required to do placements each term.

Its so sad when people are left to suffer as they are not bad enough to warrant treating and must get substantially worse to merit treatment, its hard to know what to wish for in these circumstances.

    Kez - go! enjoy! - X

Pooky - hugs - sorry it has to get worse before they will even think of operating to make it better, that sucks!

Kidcat - I feel your pain re exams, DH has his next Thursday - first in umpteen years.

I managed to get 600 words of my essay done (due in next Tues but got a busy week so want to get it done). Was hoping to get a chunk done on my day off tomorrow but got a TAC meeting for DS in the middle of the day. Result of last one was that we got disabled child team to take on DD but not DS so this one is to try and sort out where we go from here. It's just so frustrating, IS are restricted in what they can do as regards respite and they having nothing suitable for him and SS say he's not far enough away from his peers to warrant their services (basically he's not disabled enough!) They will reconsider and probably take him on when he is a similar age to DD but until then???

At least the sun is shining - it all seems better when the weather is smiling on us. Just hope it stays until at least Saturday - we are taking the kids to their first music festival, Disability Rocks - it's an accessible festival at Nell Bank in Ilkey.

    Take care all X
