One that I particularly treasure was two women dissing another, not present, as : So tight she wouldn't give you the drippings from her nose.
Priceless!
I do love a bit of earwigging at times, it's helped many a long bus journey pass more swiftly - good job I have a great poker face, until something really hits the funny bone and I collapse into the giggles..........
HH, the sweary filter here on MSE edits out the name of a northern town beginning with S and ending in thorpe.
My auntie used to saw "He's that generous he gi'e yer 'is a*se and sh*t through 'is ribs".Normal people worry me.0 -
How about 'He's so mean he could peel an orange in his pocket' ?Nothing is so fatiguing as the eternal hanging on of an uncompleted task. William James0

I used to hear some real gems on the bus in Glasgow about 30 years ago. One was a couple of women discussing some relatives husband and deciding he was a "strange fellow" - dropped voice and hissed "He reads books you know!" I had to fight the temptation to lean over and ask "Well what else would you do with them?"
I was with my mother when she met a woman she knew slightly and said hello and then asked how her husband was as last time she saw her he had been in hospital. Reply was that he was dead - he had been home for a couple of days, gone to toilet and had died sitting on the toilet  We both said how sorry we were and then went round the corner to catch the bus. got on , sat down, caught each others eye and burst into slightly hysterical giggles while wailing "It's not really funny!"
Other gems where a well refreshed man was explaining the "incredible Hulk" on tv to his workmate and saying his wife loved the programme as the hero kept bursting out of his clothes when he got angry - "Nae the troosers though!"
DH is about to take us to liddlys as we need a new landline phone and they have one with a twin cordless handset as well and big buttons much cheaper than other places. Once dd comes back from her blood test we can set off.
The atrociously assembled chair that was one of a set of four for the kitchen has just been collected and another one has been ordered to replace it but have to wait a few weeks for replacement to arrive but as it was at less than half the price I have seen at other places then I can't really complain.
Trying to convince DH a new WM is his idea and will probably take a while longer for him to convince me to buy itbut have found the cheapest price I can for the model I like.
We got a phone call yesterday to say gas prices were about to double so pleased we have things like the slow cooker and remoska.

JPsCLOUD the film is great fun and very watchable, I've only seen the old ST films , none of the new batch yet but this one was money (at OAP rates of course!) well spent for a good evenings entertainment. And theres a Tribble in it...... how could you not like it? Cheers Lyn xxx.

I loved the star trek film and we have a cinema a bus ride away (free pass) which does a "certain age" ticket and a free hot drink for a fiver on a Tuesday.
Ended up doing a shop at liddly and then going elsewhere for a twin cordless phone. Just got home, unloaded shopping and made us fish with Jersey potatoes for lunch and even gave DH soup and home made roll made yesterday as a first course so he is well pleased.
Renewed library books by puter but will still have to go in there tomorrow morning as two of the books are wanted by other people and reserved.
Happy Birthday to Pops

Thanks VJsmum and Mrs LW - I'm now drooling in anticipation and absolutely agree, there's nothing like a tribble to complete a star trek experience! That episode from the original series was superb, they incorporated some of it in a NG episode as well, I seem to remember.
I wish the new cast would do a TV series. I don't suppose they will, but it would be great to continue the franchise.I believe in the freedom of spinach and the right to arm bears.
