morning!!! I have no idea what elderflower looks like!! I like the taste in a cordial drink tho.
I have a whole day off, had to get up early as D fianc! needed petrol, he ran out on the way to the petrol station. So mum to the rescue. Now I am lounging on the sofa, chatting on here. I am trying to sort out the room of doom today, the spare room. I am going to make it a movie room, we have an old tv and a dvd player. It will be nice and clean too.
Must get myself motivated, will chat later....BSC member 137

Belated Happy Birthday Pops - glad you had a nice day with your friend.
MrsLW - echo everyone else's comments - how rude! (the phrase 'Power Corrupts come to mind - even if its very limited power)
Alfsmum - never been Elderflower picking but I think they pay by weight & you have to pick an awful lot of flowers........:(
If you want to pursue the idea I'd check out the requirements very carefully 'cos you dont want to spend time & effort & get anything rejected - good luck!
Lovely lady at the sailing club GAVE me her old dinghy to learn in & another lady is going to teach me to sail her. She's called 'Ladybird' & I'm thrilled to bits. DH & DS bought me some sailing essential for my birthday - bouyancy aid, gloves & windproof top :j:j can't wait!Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle0 -
Morning All
Belated birthday greetings for yesterday Pops!
Lovely morning here, sunny and , wait for it.....warm! So much nicer to feel the air at a normal temperature and not like an arctic blast.
Kidcat - I don't think you could mistake elderflowers for anything else, the flowers are like giant cow parsley flowers (lots and lots of tiny flowers on one stem, like an umbrella) and the trees are often quite big. As long as you pick from something that is like a tree or shrub and not a 'plant' iyswim, you won't get it wrong.
I hope everyone has some good weather this weekend - you all deserve it!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
Yellow ball is in Lincolnshire, the sky is slightly grey so that can burger off to the sea if it doesn't mind. Have just walked to post office and sent photos of my girls to OH elderly aunt. She is in a new home and want more pictures.
I was given some plants by a customer yesterday, along with a packet of hula hoops, a bakewell tart and a family trifle. I was offer a bottle of wine, but I drew the line at that. Who says working in a betting office doesn't have its perks. lol. Im sure all our oldies think we are wasting away, trust me where not - its not a good sight in the staff fridge some days.
I must start tidying..... I must lolBSC member 137

Grovelling apology for my announcement via DH (now dozy H) that our gas price was about to double!!!:o
It turned out what he actually "meant" rather than what he actually said - was that BG had lessened our dd twice and that as a result of that and the colder weather we now owe them money and our dd is being put back up to where it was originally. The daft so and so had me panicking thinking I would have be much more careful as all cooking is gas unless I use remoska and slow cooker.
After feeling quite guilty and worried and even ordering a magic cooker at a good price to experiment with - I found out late last night what the phone call had actually said.
It is an ill wind that might blow some good as it has me thinking of saving energy and possible power shortages even more and has concentrated my mind wonderfully.
Sun is out and the difference it makes is incredible. Had nice shower and looked out lighter top and trousers and sandals and going for walk with dd to library and local tea shop after making DH lunch before we go.
Prepped veg to cook later as a veg in white sauce bake and will either get meat from local butcher for tonight or else bake a frozen salmon in pastry from A**i (only £3.99 and huge).
Hope everyone has a good day."This site is addictive!"

Morning Toughies, thank you to everyone for your support, I'm calmed down a bit now but just after I posted we had a visit from one of the lovely older ladies from the sheltered flats and the wretched allotment secretary had screamed at her in her garden as well, she wanted to warn us that the Fhurer was not pleased, she couldn't have known we'd already been on the recieving end. I think the Fhurer (as she is not at all affectionately known) has completely lost the plot and have doubts about her mental stability!!! I sat my lovely lady down and chatted and appologised for the rudeness she had been subjected to, we had a tour of the garden and I gave her some produce from the polytunnel and a big bag of frozen blackberries which hopefully she will share with the couple of neighbours who were also upset by the shouting, what a mess!!! Never mind, onwards and upwards as they say, He Who Knows is on the lottie planting out sweetcorn and butternut squash plants, we have a sublimely beautiful day weatherwise, my washing is blowing on the line, I am listening to Glen Miller on the stereo and we won the Pub Quiz last night so it could be worse, couldn't it? Hope you are all enjoying some of this lovely sunshine, Cheers Lyn xxx.0

Is there a warden or someone to complain on the elderly people's behalf as the shouting and abuse would have been an offence if done in the street?
I think a word with someone on the council or whoever is supposed to oversee the banshee would be a good idea. Being abused like a pickpocket is not fair to anyone and certainly not to you or those in sheltered housing who should be entitled to feel safe. on behalf of you all.
DH has gone to help friend who is not internet etc savvy and trying to understand why his quite low broadband deal will not let him use the snazzy gadget he fancies buying and is getting worried. Think DH realised he was in for quite a task when he asked friend what his e mail address was and was asked "What is that?".
Can't leave till DH gets back so have prepared him a lunch and cleared dishes and worktops etc so kitchen does not look a tip when we get back. If good weather keeps up may sit in the sunshine with a book (cue for it to chuck it down)."This site is addictive!"

Thanks ELONA, I believe the warden did hear the affray if that's the right way to describe it and He Who Knows will be having a word with the Chairman, but this particular person is known for being difficult to deal with and I think will be extremely reluctant to admit any wrong behaviour on any level. It was such a display of bad manners to the Sheltered Housing residents, I feel awful for them and that some of them are upset is unforgiveable!!! We shall see what happens next, it would be a relief to ALL the plotholders if she did resign but I can't see that happening in the near future. I think she has a slightly skewed view of the allotments as she kept shouting about HER trees on HER land, I think she sees it as personal property, not helping at all is it? Watch this space, meanwhile, he is down there working, I hope enjoying the sunshine and the birdsong and nattering to his fellow allotmenteers and being nice to my sheltered lady. We'll be giving them some strawberry runners and raspberry canes in the autumn, that seemed to make her happy yesterday evening, and he will be pulling them some nice fresh rhubarb today as we can spare it, might make them happy again yes? Cheers Lyn xxx.0

How positively idyllic it sounds! Just make sure no passing Messer!!!!!!! will spoil your day - I am sure Winnie is on the "wireless" later(how strange that a wartime image is thought of (by me) as "Idyllic")
Edit
What? why has the sweary filter got rid of "Schm!dt"I wanna be in the room where it happens0
