OK I confess I LIKE IRONING!!!!!!!!! I know that makes me a very sad being, and probably someone should explain the error of my ways, but, I love how it smells, I love how it feels stacking the still warm things after they've been ironed and I love the feeling of satisfaction when the job is finished and the pile is sat there, all pristine and neat, Oh goodness me, I should really get a life shouldn't I??? I never thought ironing could be a vice!!!!!

All the reasons, I enjoy ironing. I mean I wouldn't do it every day but when choose to, it's really satisfying!

Kidcat - yay! So glad you got the DLA - both times I've had mixed feelings to get kids DLA granted so quickly (as in OMG how bad must they sound on paper to get the award through so quickly!!) but it has made so much difference in both cases. With DD it meant we could start doing more stuff (days out, both fun and good for her and buying craft stuff etc) without worrying about the pennies, also stopped worries about heating bills (we need heating on higher and longer due to mobility). With DS it meant that DH could drop a day at work and be around more to help with the lifting and the tough stuff as well as being less tired the rest of the week - upsides all round. Not to mentions the grants/days out aspect. You work so hard - not just for your family but also others as today shows - so I rely hope that it makes as big of a difference to you as it has done for us - X

Lyn - my mum also comes and is my "Ironing Fairy" at intervals when the pile starts threatening to topple over!!! But I can PM you my address for when she's not available!!! DD gives the most darling kisses if you need a motivator (DS is still on Glasgow kisses - he purses his lips and headbutts you! Apologies to anyone from Glasgow!)- LOL!

Right - off to bed now, DH has been snoring away for hour as he is up at 2 am for work (stock take so he is in to check off deliveries the old fashioned way - on paper - so as not to auto update the system). I've had a peaceful evening doing my patchwork and quilting and watching Stepford Wives - it seemed appropriate!

Jem - good to see you back - X

Take care all - onwards and upwards and all that - X

Kidcat, its late and I just popped on to get a message and saw your good news. I can see how it will make life easier all round as it did to Stilty. :j

I love it when Homerdog and Lisakay talk on here, they are a fab pair and can't wai to get together with them in RL when we can.

Hugs to those in need especially those with depression as I am seeing the horrors of it with OH. Got a copy of a letter today that the wonderous Doc at the pain clinic has sent to our GP - basically get your finger out before OH has another breakdown and how serious the new symptoms are that he has taken steps to deal with them himself immeadiately. Its so good to have support from someone who apparently can get things done fast. Hopefully things will start improving now and we will know what we are dealing with.

Am off to sleep(she says crossing her fingers) just stayed up so OH will be asleep when I get upstairs then I know I can relax ...and breathe....:D

evening toughies, jem its lovely to "see" you again. :)

Its been a good day today, we received news today that DS15 DLA has been granted and that he will have it until 2018 which is incredible news and will really make a huge difference, not just because of the actual money but for the other stuff it opens up for him. If he can go to college it means he automatically gets extra help and IT support too, day trips he can avoid queues and all manner of other help too.

I then was called out to a mum whose child is in crisis and needed advice and support, we often give both but have never been involved at this level. We were able to get her an action plan sorted and she left smiling where she had arrived in tears, it was so good to make a real difference.

Tomorrow we are off out for the day either zoo or farm, kids will vote in the morning.

We also squeezed in a trip to costco, lots of taste tests but not huge amounts of big bargains this time :)

Fantastic news, I know that feeling... it is indeed all the other doors it opens.

For me it was: a free bus pass, disabled person's working tax credit (and resulting free prescriptions), blue badge and some free parking for DS, complete new central heating system under Warm Front (not possible now, sadly), no VAT on disability purchases and last but not least, my RADAR loo key! I can also get reduced rail fares. Oh yeah - and I get the handiest seats on the bus.

    Good morning all,

kidcat - sorry forgot to post BRILLIANT NEWS about the DLA! Although no personal experience, my dear friend gets it for her DS9 and it has helped a lot, things like reduced entries and fast track queuing for days out, a free bus pass (she doesn't drive but is learning) etc. Nice to hear some good news.

Well done on supporting the mum in crisis, what a difference you have made to her life and her child's. Feel proud of yourself! :T

Grey and damp here with rain forecasted. Boys have their minibeast sessions to look forward to at least. And we still have cake - anyone fancy a slice? :D

I'm in a quandary. Tomorrow we are meeting a friend and her DS9 for the day and rain is forecast all day. DH has annual leave as he has an exam late afternoon so can't invite over to ours. Friend never invites us to hers and now isn't the time to invite ourselves. Soft play is out for reasons to do with friend's son. Friend is not used to our sort of cheap days out. Don't want to cancel friend as she is in need of support right now and DH could do with a quiet house.

Where do we go??? I really could do with not spending much but think I will have to dip into our extras pot. Cinema would cost £22  and only kill a couple of hours.(we usually do the £1.50 tickets at the weekend) If it was just me and boys we would go into town - visit the library, give boys a pound to spend in pound shops as a challenge, get a bun in the bakers, let them visit a big toy shop just to browse and sigh loudly etc.

    laters folks, be good ;)

Coming out of lurkdom....GQ, you ironed pillowcases!! (Admittedly I do love getting into a fresh, crisp, ironed, heavy cotton made up bed, but don't bother doing it....)

I'm proud to say my iron has only been out twice in the past 15 months - once for DD's Hamma beads and once for some Velcro on her dance costume! Both times made me shudder and need therapy, lol.
:D I only iron bedlinen if it's not going straight back on the bed (an aim not always achieveable). I have a weird thingy about liking nice ironed piles of linen in the cupboard.

Besides, cupboard is very small, so the flatter stuff is, the better!

VJsMum; the calico bag I keep my recycling in gets a bit grubby and needs washing, then the machine leaves it all scrunched up about the size of a hankie. I wouldn't normally advance near baggage with a chunk of heated steel in hand.

:T Congratulations to kidkat on getting DLA for her son and also helping that other mum in a crisis. You're an inspiration.

Weather looks disgusting atm; grey and cold and louring. I did so enjoy the three day summer we had over the bank holiday weekend, roll on 2014................:rotfl:

Hokay, hope everyone has a good day and see youse later, GQ xx

Morning all - confession here - I like ironing too for the same reasons as MrsL. But as DH retired before me I asked him if he'd help by doing the quilt covers & he's now taken over - lol. I still do my own bits & bobs though :)
Kidcat Great news for you :T

Kidcat: Brilliant news! Isn't it nice when something good happens, you must have danced a jig! You are so good that with all the problems you have, you still find time and energy to help someone else. It's like they say - if you want something done, ask a busy woman. In your case - ask a woman so busy that she hardly has time to breathe for herself. Well done.

The sun id shining here so am working myself up to stepping out into the garden to start hauling bags of poo about and digging it in. So far I have managed to find quite a few displacement activities, but my conscience is nagging me.

    Heavy sigh...........

    Well, here I go.

  • Oh what a nice feeling to not be the only one who LIKES IRONING!!! I'm glad I came out!!! Years in the closet, usually wielding my trusty iron and you all came out too, ironers of the world unite is what I say, but then you know how sad I am even on a good day!!!

Have just washed all the floors so am stuck in the study until they dry. I have been through all the kitchen cupboards and sorted out the ends of jars that accumulate and given them a wash and tidy, done the same in the store room and done the same in the fridge, is it by any chance that thing called Spring? I seem to be infected with the spring cleaning bug today, looks heaps better though.

When the lawn is dry we are going to SHHHHHH bath the lurcher!!!! so his towels can go on the lawn for him to dry off on, it's warm enough down here but it is NOT his favourite thing in the world so he will be very offy with me for the rest of the day I expect. He Who Knows is on the lottie and gathering in ye rhubarb whyle ye may, and is also going to take down a couple of dead small trees for the ladies in the sheltered housing flats that back on to the lotties, they asked him if he would and he's a kind boy so he said yes, mind he always does, he's a good'un. Nothing planned for today so will probably keep on sorting out the house, it always looks better for a good tidy up and the sea scouts jumble sale benefits from any rejects, can only be good. Have a good one everyone, Cheers Lyn xxx.
