MrsLurcherwalker wrote: »OK I confess I LIKE IRONING!!!!!!!!! I know that makes me a very sad being, and probably someone should explain the error of my ways, but, I love how it smells, I love how it feels stacking the still warm things after they've been ironed and I love the feeling of satisfaction when the job is finished and the pile is sat there, all pristine and neat, Oh goodness me, I should really get a life shouldn't I??? I never thought ironing could be a vice!!!!!
Really??
In that case let me help you feel good - send me your address I will send lots of feel good!! :rotfl:0 -
Thanks KIDCAT - I do all the ironing when I visit the girls too - how very sad is that??? but you have to admit, I'm probably unique which is just as well as the poor old planet just couldn't cope with two like me !!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.0

three times last night, three timesI tried to post and lost internet connection
Forgotten most of what I was going to say.
happy hols to fuddle x
jem, glad you are feeling well enough to post x I have a thing about yellow. back when DD1 was born we did her bedroom pale green and bright yellow, then a year or so later the kitchen got the yellow treatment (and more recently a bright yellow kitchen aid to match) then last year we decided to decorate the hall, stairs and landing.. it wasn't until we opened DD's bedroom door after it was finished that we realized we'd chosen the exact same shades lol.
mcculloch, lovely pics.
I didn't like the diazepam much, took half a tab and felt like I was wading through treacle, not had any since. I don't really do meds of any sort if I can help it. i'll give them another chance if it gets really bad though.
packed a picnic and went to the lotty yesterday. got there for 11 and got so much done. the girls played so nicely together, and the rain didn't start til mid afternoon, then they disappeared to the playhouse. couldn't believe it when we got back to the car and it was after 5pm!
weeded the biggest bed (it was bad) and planted 50 sweetcorn seedlings out. DD2 nailed up her pop bottle flowers in the fairy glen and we swapped a clump of iris for a bag full of bluebells and freesia bulbs that have gone in the glen as well. also scattered lots more wildflower seeds.
have netted the goosegogs as have plans for those this year, the branches are weighed down with small fruits and I don't want to share them with the birds this year ( have left the currants uncovered, they can have them)
dispatched lots of slugs and snails, including the big (bigger after eating all my tom seedlings) slug I found in the greenhouse, and relocated the frog back out to the pond, didn't want to leave him shut in the greenhouse.
DD2 was poorly in the night, so we had a lazy day in pj's today and helped the girls to do some quilling, tea staining and decoupage.
back to the lotty tomorrow
best wishes to all xxxfreecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0 -
Great news Kidcat!
Lyn you are welcome to come round and do some ironing here any time.0 -
MrsLW, my nanna used to come and do all my mum's ironing. the only things I normally iron are uniforms, and only then if I really can't get away without. the girls summer school dresses are great, they rarely need ironing.freecycler and skip diver extraordinnaire:cool:0

lisakay - I had diazepam earlier this year - took one and lost an enitire five hours, thank goodness DD18 and OH were here for the kids as I was totally out of it. My doc had said they would make me placid - err try dead!0

Er.... Lisa, I might remind you that Nanna used to love ironing and i was busy with you 3 and childminding 3 so had very little time to do any ironing, couldn't get the board out til your little bro was in bed.
I'm proud to say I do all my ironing and that of my friend (for a small fee of course). lolMrsLW, my nanna used to come and do all my mum's ironing. the only things I normally iron are uniforms, and only then if I really can't get away without. the girls summer school dresses are great, they rarely need ironing.0 -

Happy Birthday to your DD Pooky. Hope your girls had fun.
Just think jem, when you wake up every day... you will have sunshine indoors! Good for you.
Well done on the assertive phone call Byatt. Fingers crossed.
Why not make an appointment with the doc, just to put your mind at rest? If you don't usually go for every little thing, then you are really not making a fuss but being sensible.
kidcat - enjoy your day out tomorrow.
My three boys (well it's 5 if you include our cats, I'm outnumbered) have all been sleeping soundly for hours. DH has an exam again on Wednesday so tension building up, what with the kids today, my stress levels are running high. I made myself chill out on the sofa earlier with a very large glass of wine and another
slice of crazy birthday cake, a book a friend has kindly lent me, my favourite blanket and a warm cat. I felt very content and at peace with the world shut away.
DH is working from home tomorrow and just knowing that, is making me feel better. I will be able to nip out to the shops for essentials on my own and we can have a family dinner.
Assuming boys ok, will take them to separate school activity session. Infants in am, juniors in pm. They are doing something bug related, sounds fun. My two love anything nature related and DS6 has been known to correct teachers on the correct species, it's not a beetle Miss, it's a green shield bug or whatever. That's my boy!
I used to iron everything except towels and undies. Once DS6 arrived, I cut out things like sheets and a couple of years or more ago I virtually gave up ironing anything! Save so much time and my leccy meter is all the better for it. Only iron things for very special occasions or very creasy things with linen in (and even then have some trousers with a linen mix and manage to hang well when damp and avoid ironing) Or those hamma beads. It's one of those things that has almost become a game with me, wish I could do the same with the car.
That's a thought. Might set myself a challenge to save petrol next. Will tag that on to the sewing challenge, the gardening challenge, the decorating challenge, the decluttering challenge and the loosing weight challenge.... amongst the many in my head! :rotfl:
okey dokey, better finish up on here soon, looking forward to snuggling up in my bed with fresh bedding on. Simple pleasures are the best.

Glad that you are feeling a bit brighter jem.....welcome back.
What is this ironing of which people speak??
Went to our nearest asian shop to-day as was out of hoisin and fish sauce and sesame oil....it has closed! Am now going to have to face a longer journey, didn't have time to-day....can get what I want locally but its much more expensive.
Have been making crochet and knitted flowers to-day as the knitting group is going to decorate a papier mache tree to brighten up the library and show off that we don't just chatter when we are there....still have to finish them off and do some leaves and stems, but will do that to-morrow.
After 4 long years DD4 has eventually been made permanent in her school, I am so happy for her as she works so hard.
Fuddle....enjoy your holiday, you certainly deserve it.
Sleep well all and stay safe.
