  • POPS absolute relief that it went well, so pleased for you, hope you are feeling less worried now and that your stress levels will be going down. I hope having McCulloch with you made a big difference and that you were treated better by the HA representatives and that you now know why they came back a second time, good news lad, really good news, Cheers Lyn xxx.

Pops - so glad it went well! Please though, do get them to tell you what it is they are looking at specifically - I know I keep banging on about this, but you really do not want to be an effective prisoner in your own home, thinking you cannot live a normal life in case they come again...

Unless you had stacks of stuff piled dangerously high, or the house was filthy, or you were damaging walls etc, it is hard to think what they could have had a problem with - you do pay rent, and to some extent, you are free to live as you choose - if you want to keep tins of beans in the bathroom, it really is not their business!

Have a good rest from it all now, the place can't get any worse in two weeks, and by then more of your rubbish will be gone. It must be a great relief.

    Afternoon toughies

The weather here is sh!te, I'm sorry to say, blowing a gale (got to be at least a eighter!), pouring down, hail - so all down in the doldrums!!

DS was 6 yesterday, can't believe so much time has flown! :j:eek: Got to blitz the house this aft as we're having a bun fight tomorrow for him, hope to goodness the weather improves - I had high hopes of chucking the kids into the garden.

Will pop back on me tea break, pops glad your visit went ok. On the tea front, my fave is Twinings breakfast tea, or their Earl Grey when I'm ok for brass! They also do a camomile and honey/vanilla, which is so snuggly (as long as it's piping hot and very strong!)! :D

    3.1 Right to occupy
3.1.1 You have the right to occupy your home without interruption or
interference from us for the duration of this tenancy (except for the obligation contained in this tenancy agreement to give access to our employees or contractors).
3.1.2 Your right to occupy your home is at risk if you do not comply with the terms of this tenancy agreement or have proper respect for the rights of other tenants and other persons in the neighbourhood.

You have the right to stay there because you were tenant before 2009 (before transfer from council) you do have more rights than tenants who took the tenancy after that date.

It states you have the right to stay there without interference as long as there are no tenancy breaches. During your visit the Officers felt there was case for concern and you admit that there has been an awful lot of stuff to sort. Pops they have only been doing their job and I guess the 3rd visit is to make sure the house doesn't quickly fall back into the place that cause them concern in the first place.

It's over, there was a concern but you've sorted it. Just make sure that you keep on top of the house work and be doubly clean and tidy when you have arranged visits. It's over.

So do I! We've managed(and that is me on my own now)for over 50 years and no problems of my or others making mischief for me so why start now...if they arrive too early I may refuse to talk to them until mcculloch29 gets here:)

With all the tidying up I can't find the warning letter that was sent to me:mad:but it will turn up...

And what would the result have been if you were as they would see it, overly assertive/aggressive/defensive? As to why start now, how may times must I say it, we live in different times, the reality of renting is hugely different from even 5 years ago, although private renting has had these measures in place for longer, even so, how many LL's have been left with damaged and spoiled properties as a result of some tenants.

They felt they had reason to be worried, now as Fuddle says, just keep on top of things and it won't be so bad when someone wants to visit to check on things.

And as I feel my opinion is falling on stony ground and we seem to be saying the same things over and over, I will leave it there. Hopefully we can all move on.

Fuddle, I haven't read the book, but I do use the saying, it was recommended to me years ago, but I'm not so good reading self help books, but I have learned that fear is often a remembered fear and does not relate to the current situation, that helps. Also, that fear lessens when you do more or face more things, familiarity perhaps making it easier.

I went to the USA once on my own, I was a very different person coming back to the one that left, only a week, but my fear had gone (it did come back again sadly) and I floated on this lovely cloud for weeks. People noticed too which was the biggest suprise, in that the way they spoke to me was very different. A step at a time, don't rush it...

edit, having said all that, if you feel a book will help and is something you can dip into, then go for it. You've nothing to lose and there may be (probably is) helpful tips.

Hi toughies, its taken me a while to catch up. Teabags, well I buy Tetley one cup 100 for a quid. And then when we go to aldi, we buy the gold teabags for a treat. They make a lovely cuppa.

Well today has been manic, checked the bank today as both me and oh get paid. I was OH wasn't, they have just had a management buyout at work. PANIC.... I am sure I am not the only person who is often glad/desperate for payday. Well his boss has sent a message saying everyone will be paid by the end of day. My pay was wrong too, I have been doing extra shifts including being manager (get me !!) basically I close up at night and have my own keys. Nothing major. But they pay over a pound an hour to do this.
I have to discuss it tomorrow with the area manager, so maybe they will pay it next month.

Pops i'm glad you got on well today, I too panic whenever we have council workpeople round. why I don't know as definatley don't hoard, except when there is a major glitch - that's in a box in the spare room!!Hopefully next time they call you will have all the other bits sorted.

In the area I am in, they are trying to get people who are on their own into smaller properties. Mainly because families are desperate for larger houses. Our council does assisted moving and help with moving costs.

Well I am ashamed to say I have put the heating on. It is raining really hard and there is even hail at times.

Must get some cleaning done, take care everyone x

Nutty I'm sitting here fighting against putting the heating on, it's yukky outside. The bunnies aren't going out today, so they're all snuggled up on their dogbed.
We are changing our car tomorrow, so being careful about how much petrol we put in, and I think the car is actually eating petrol. We've used more than £10 in 2 days and done about 8 miles!

Good news...all went well and I was so grateful and appreciative that McCullogh was here for moral support and as a witness. They seemed happy.

However, they have a procedure and they want to visit again in a fortnight. They say that they usually do three(?)seems a bit over the top.

    Popperwell.

    Glad it went well.

I would be tempted to write and ask them to provide a copy of their procedure. Just so they cannot turn up next time and say they want another visit.

I would also be very inclined to make sure that you have a friend there next time as well.

Partly so that you have a witness and partly because it is much harder for them to view you as "a person who is struggling to cope" when they have evidence that you have an active social network.

Sunny here now but that force 7 gale from Siberia makes going out a waste of time. Washing drying well though. Been busy in the garden this past few days, put in chamomile and thyme, plus some campanula and pinks. I bought 10 hedging roses on ebay and have ONE with new growth :( now need to fill in the blank spaces with something else. Not easy because the damn coos tend to lean over and chomp away.
