  • Morning Toughies, it's perishing cold and wet and windy this morning, Oh it must be summer then!!!!! I just can't get that song 'Raindrops keep falling on my head' out of my mind, can't think why!!!

SQ you are a sensible girlie, well done on sorting out a tricksy situation with your neighbour. I wouldn't feel too bad about saying no, I'll bet my bottom dollar that you are only one of many folks she's been taking advantage of, she'll have others on her radar to take over, people like that always do. What a kind you you are too to talk to the upset man and give your change to the car park lady, you're made of good stuff you, bless you for being so kind.

POPS good luck for today, we're all rooting for you and they'll have McCulloch to deal with if they put a foot wrong, I hope for thier sakes they don't!!!

MAR perhaps, if you actually made the aniseed tea WITH Pernod, it would make you happy enough to ignore the prevailing weather in your neck of the woods? Just a thought, but I wondered if you'd like it??? Cheers Lyn xxx.

Hi All - big trip yesterday to 'Lunun Town' to see my godmother get her RNLI award at the Barbican. Really lovely time. Some of the Lifeboat crews were also receiving awards for their skills & bravery - quite awsome! We should all be so proud of the organisation and the people involved in it - there's nothing like it anywhere else in the world. I'm not surprised that their expertise is sought by other countries.
DH took me to see Jersey Boys in the evening so got back home in the early hours a very tired & happy bunny. Family visiting today & tomorrow so no slouching for me. Off to make up beds etc - Have a good weekend all 'cos it looks as if we may get some of that round yellow ball in the sky :)
Small victories - sometimes they are all you can hope for but sometimes they are all you need - be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle

Have you tried sucking on a licorice stick Mar - Spanish Root it's called. Nice and cheap and lasts for ages!

Must say I have a love-hate relationship with licorice, I hate pernod and ouzo but love Galliano-based drinks like Harvey Wallbanger!

Need to watch liquorish if your BP is high as it can raise it quite a lot!
I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer.
Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration.
I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over and through me. When it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path.
When the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.

Pops and McCulloch, hope all goes well today and that McCulloch does not get blown off her bike.

SQ, you must be a saint to have look after the extra little one so many times. I always worried so much more when I was responsible for someone else's little ones rather than my own.

Fuddle, I haven't read Feel the Fear but have seen similar. Might be Ok for those with specific phobia, e.g. snakes, flying (not together, you understand), public speaking, but not always so good with conditions like anxiety if it will promote fear just reading it. Would wait till you are in a good place, then read it and there may be some useful tips. Having said that, there does come a point when you have to do things you would prefer not to or you end up with no life at all. Unfortunately there's no magic pill to take away the worry! Sometimes good enough is good enough, if you see what I mean. If you are fairly happy with what you are doing and are coping, give yourself a break from worrying about things you think you SHOULD be doing and that might worry you if you tried. Then hopefully one day you will do them without thinking and it will be fine. A lot of anxiety is worrying about what MIGHT happen and anticipating, over planning, which does us no good at all. I'm not a relaxed person but going with the flow and living in the moment seems to be the way to go. Hope some of that makes sense? It's hard for people on the outside to understand what's going on on the inside, but I think there is a bit more understanding these days. SO many people are anxious or stressed in today's world.

As for tea, I haven't got on with Sainsbugs basics, but to be fair I've had the flu since last week and taste buds are awry . I like Twinnings, though it can take a bit longer to brew, and PG but not Tetleys. Need to try Aldi ones again once taste is back! There are so many weird and wonderful flavours about now, and I've seen a few with aniseed and/or liquorice (ee ugh!). Camomile tea is highly recommended as a stress and anxiety relief, but I can only drink it when it's really hot. Once it cools down I can't stomach it. Strange......

Good old PG Tips tea bags for me. Have tried others and go back to them each time. :)

Well its raining here and I dont mind one bit, we havent had much rain at all, so its come as a welcome to fill my water butts........
We do get a lot of wind here as we are on the coast , which soon dries the land.......

Forecast for the weekend is warm , sunny, so after this mornings rain hopefully the garden and I will enjoy the sunny weekend, I will...:)..............

On to the lovely subject of tea, I love co op tea bags they taste beautiful, tea you can taste.......:)My second choice for tea would be Yorkshire tea....

Im waiting for my delivery of a UV filter for my pond, should be here today ,so im indoors this morning having a clean up, then when the sun shine Saturday I will be outside working on the pond, UV light should kill the blanket weed which the sun creates.......Sheila
  • SHEILA we've had a pump with a UV bulb and filter built in for the past 3 years and it runs almost permanently...... and we've still got green soup in the pond!!!!! That is despite having lots of oxygenator plants and pond snails too, we've tried all the usual de-greeners like Barley Straw and special clearing stuff from the garden centre and nothing has worked. Should you find that your new UV Filter does work, would you mind sharing the make and where it came from? I'd love to be able to look in the pond and see the fish again, thanks pet, Cheers Lyn xxx.

How is the Rosie puppy these days, hope she is still enjoying life and being with her Mumi!!!

Lyn , yes sure I will.......My pond is a wildlife one, no fish at all......Ive always been able to see down the bottom of the pond , deepest part 18 inches , the water is crystal clear, its just the dam blanket weed, I do use a bamboo cane and twist it around which is a very good way of getting it out of the pond........

Only trouble is with the cane is that you have to be so careful as not to get the plants on the cane with the blanket weed...:eek:So its quite a tedious job with the cane .......

My son as never been able to see more than a foot down in his pond, he bought a UV filter a week ago and now he can see at least 2 feet down and its clearing his blanket weed as well , he as quite a few fish in his pond...

He said on the box instructions that it does take 2 weeks to completely get the pond clear, so you have to have patients .....My pond get quite a lot of sunshine on it, as our garden is south facing...............

Someone gave me a massive clump of water mint plant ,ive separated it , and apparently that will help reduce the blanket weed.....

I will keep you updated on it, its not here yet , and its stopped raining so im now going out to do some jobs......

Rosie is still here, she had another stroke 2 weeks ago but as come out of it okay again , she is 16 so we take everyday as it comes , and enjoy life, while she is in no pain and as a healthy appetite and walks ..........Sheila

DH plans to put monster carp in our pond when we have one! Flaming heck lad. We spend a lot of our time in garden centres drooling over pond set ups. One day eh? ;)

Alfsmum, at the moment I am not anywhere near stable so I will avoid for now. There's no point pushing if its going to make me worse. Thank you for posting it, so much made sense and is so relevant to me.

Been reading about putting tea bags (retains moisture) and tea leaves (seeps nutrients) in amongst compost when planting in pots.

Anyone heard from monnagran? She went to Greece on a Tuesday, was away 2 weeks, so was expecting her home Tuesday. I text her last night but no reply as yet. Getting worried. If anyone sees her around will you let me know?

Good news...all went well and I was so grateful and appreciative that McCullogh was here for moral support and as a witness. They seemed happy.

However, they have a procedure and they want to visit again in a fortnight. They say that they usually do three(?)seems a bit over the top.

He comes back everyday and yesterday decided to bring a friend.:o
What ever you do don't buy a plastic heron like we did,an expert told us we had just told the heron there was fish in the pond he became best pals with the plastic heron:)
