Evening toughies, thank you all once again for your support, once again you have kept me moving through a tough time
I can never thank Kittie enough for starting the original thread, the support, advice and practical wisdom I receive daily is an inspiration.
Today I took DS9 to school, there had been an incident after school where his teacher had spoken to me quite harshly and also had confiscated something of his that she shouldnt have. As she has been exceptional with him and turned things around this year for him again, I was willing to overlook it and not fuss, but she met me at the door and apologised to me,
I then had a chat about DS currently and we both agreed alot is end of term exhaustion, I mentioned DS15 report and she said, so how you gonna change it? I just looked and she said, thats what they say now about him, what are you gonna do to make it better? I know you and you have always fought, the report is his current state, so take it and use it to make things better.
So thats my plan, to try to make it better for him, teach him strategies to live with the bits we cant change, and find ways around others.
Pops - how did the inspection go today?
I think Shegar has possibly got it on the button unfortunately, I know my council has been given targets to hit of tenants downsizing. As pensioners are exempt from the new rules that gives most councils very limited numbers of people they can actually target.
They wont tell you that is their aim either because they dont want the bad press.0 -
Fuddle, yes my garden is my peaceful ,wildlife friendly, pleasure,it takes my stress away being out with nature,no traffic, no people... just the birds, bees and butterflies, Id rather be in there than someone giving me £200 to go shopping with, honest.......
It does my depression the world of good, there seems so much bad news, troubles, health , money etc to always worry about, I do some jobs outside then sit and have a cuppa in the summerhouse with the dogs.........
Alliums are perennial so once in the ground they are there for life........Im watching Chelsea Flower Show at the minuet, they always have a good show of alliums, thats where I first got to see them , mind you mine arnt as big as theirs, god knows how they grow such beautiful stuff..Miracle Gro I spect ...:)...Sheila
You've described what I would love to have and described why. I had built my garden up over the few years I lived in the house that I lost. My pride and joy was my magnolia stellata. It was in the part that I had built up with the help of gardeners world magazine. My bench was in that area. There's times when I just sat. I don't even think I thought of anything. Time just went. A garden is such a tonic and a one I think I need. I just need it to be functional and moveable to justify the cost. Thanks Sheila, happy thoughts(and dreaming if purple flowering alliums!)

Darjeeling is a very light, bright brew, Assam is a lot stronger. You could seal them up for now (they will keep somewhere dark) and just use the Typhoo until you get the knack and are ready to experiment.
What size spoon are you using for the tea? A 'Caddy' spoon is a bit bigger than a teaspoon, so you might need a bit more into the pot to get the right strength when you use the Typhoo tea.
My favourite tea is Chinese Jasmine, very light and floral, it's the sort of thing you can drink pots of, and even I have been known to do two pots over a Chinese meal!
The birdy baffle seems to be working... they came and had a good look and have gone off to work out how to crack it!Think big thoughts but relish small pleasures0 -
You see I just dont get the whole tea leaf thing at all, I enjoy a nice cup of tea but I remember as a child my mother used tea leaves, there was always leaves in the cup, really put me off.
I enjoy a nice english breakfast tea bag and have swapped at home to using only Earl Grey when I discovered that all the other normal ones gave me headaches.
Just for laughs as I think we may all need them currently, today I had my support group, we have an issue with someone who had said they were leaving but has since come back. They take over every meeting, repeat what is said there, refuse to donate anything towards refreshments etc . She has taken to grilling me each week to lure me into saying something that is confidential, and each week I am ending up with a migraine, today I stood up and said staring at her well thank you, now my microwave is back!:rotfl::rotfl:

Kidcat, :rotfl::rotfl:
I had a lovely evening, sitting for a client, so fed the badgers, fed the ducklings on their pond, and filled the bird feeders, there are so many birds about and almost tame. Sometimes I'm lucky and see deer and hares. And of course the lovely cats.
Tea bags suit me, but I do agree you have to find the tea you like and they are all different. When you do find "the one" it is magical.0 -
Thanks everyone for your kind welcome.
Kidkat, I would just like to say, having read your posts for a while, how you care for your family is a real inspiration and if anyone can change things, you can.
As for tea - I am partial to a cup of Lady Grey, it has a nice citrus tang.Do what you can, with what you have where you are.0 -
Pops, I will be over about 9.30 ish, so I really hope the guys are coming, lol, as I've shifted my schedule to accommodate! If not no worries... but I emailed you my mobile so do text me.
Alternatively, I'm in the phone book. I can bring some work over and sit quietly in a corner, or give you a hand, as far as I am able.
Everyone, I have no idea what Pops' place WAS like, but given the sad events in another part of our town where hoarding caused the death of a H.A. tenant (and could have killed firemen and her son) I can fully understand that they would want to ensure that no tenant has a cluttered house.
Watching Jasmine on the Hoarder programme currently.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.0 -
Tea is a favourite subject of mine....
I went through a phase of love for Lapsang Souchong, now I really like Chai, particularly Palanquin or Mr T's Finest.
I did buy some chocolate tea, but that is a slightly acquired taste.
A!di's gold tea is almost the same standard as Yorkshire Gold, which is what I usually drink as my everyday tea, but I've now added A!di to the list.
Fruit teas and herbals go through phases of favour. I like strong fruit and spice flavours as well as aniseed/liquorice flavours.Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again...
