Sounds like a fair few hugs and cups of tea needed around here the last couple of days.

Kidcat - completely know where you are coming from - I just hope for a long and healthy life and for both of mine to keep on being as determined and obstinate as they are as that will drive them forward to independence. Take a couple of days, and try not to be so hard on yourself. Then keep doing what you are doing as you are a fantastic and determined mums and everyone knows than special kids with fantastic and determined mums can amaze everyone else - the health profession is awfully good at telling us what our kids can't do or won't be able to do - they need to get a bit better at supporting us and listen to their own mums who no doubt told them when they were little as mine certainly did ---- "no such word as can't!" PM me anytime - X

Speaking of mums, mine came down for the day and we went out for lunch, the kids polished off their lunches like they hadn't been fed for a week! Then went over to the craft shop and DD completely embarrassed me. She pulled a whole (fortunately small) stand of machine threads off the shelf onto the floor :o - I was mortified! It did at least shock her out of her mini meltdown as she was having a right old leg kicking strop at the time.

Still got a nice quiet drive on my own to look forward to this evening - going to pick up the tripp trapp chair I won on ebay - we have 2 already at home and they are superb - have really helped the kids with their sitting. So far we have been taking them up to my parents when we go to stay but as the new buggy is so huge I thought it would be better get ones to live up there. We try to get up once every month/6 weeks or so, so it will be worth while as they can use them for years. Will also be good for my nieces when my bro's family go up.

Thanks for the support...got rid of a lot of stuff and I thought I could clear more but my gardener thought otherwise so its bagged and I'll do a bag at a time. Now in the garage but when it goes it is not replaced.

Agree with all that has been said...jumpiness about hoarders but then again this HA has a poor reputation. In fact a big news story in the papers involves a woman who died in a fire, however her rubbish, junl was floor to ceiling and affected how they moved around the house.

I am more likely to ask why they came down hard on me when they let a house get into that state and why they were so off the ball. Absolutely no comparison.

I don't miss the news and get enough of what's happening from the internet/radio. I have to be informed because of the changes coming in but I am happier not knowing especially when a story like yesterday happens...

Popperwell I don't understand all thsi stuff about house inspections - I've lived in council housing forever and never once had anybody come to inspect anything - in fact I'd doubt if it was even legal? It's not generally done - your house is your house as long as you're paying rent and not being antisocial then they shouldn't bother you.

That's how I saw it...the HA never have until this year and the previous council never did. Most think they overstepped the mark and think that they had no right or I have more than I think that I have...I'm not anti social and am a month ahead on my rent...

I wouldn't let them in - I'd say I will come down to your office and discuss this with a senior housing officer first and get this cleared up.

WOOHOO just looked out of the front window and my big old apple tree actually has BLOSSOM open and lots and lots of big fat pink buds ready to pop!!!!! I thought I'd lost him in all the cold, now I really am HAPPY!!!!!!! Cheers Lyn xxx.

I have 2 apple trees, ones a bramley and the other a orange pippin, both have been out in bloom well over 2 weeks now, it seems as if this maybe a good year for tree fruits, also my plum tree was in bloom in April......

Suppose it depends where we all are in the country, im pretty much in a warm and drought spot here.........

I put these fruit trees in when we moved here 7 years ago and each year has been successful with the trees and they dont grow rapidly but bare good fruit........

Well when we moved here it was just like a playing field not that big I mean there was nothing here just grass, so I said to hubby then I will have to buy mature trees otherwise we will never see 5 foot trees get to 20 feet , :eek:as we are now in our 50 s and I wanted a quick mature garden , so I bought nothing under 10 to 12 feet , so 7 years down the line and the garden looks as though its been here for 30 years...........We are never moving again, this is our forever home, its took a lot of doing to get it how we wanted it, and no way do I want to start all over again.....

Well the birds are nesting away , feeding their young, costing me a fortune in bird feeds, im waiting for a UV filter to come for the wildlife pond, trying to get this dam blanket weed to stop growing...

So im gonna have fun when that turns up Friday building it myself , but I will get it up and running......

Got loads of newts in the pond and frogs, so the cold spring didnt stop them breeding................

I put lods of allium bulbs in the garden borders last September and they are now very tall and beautiful purple so they so nice beside the calendulas....

Chickens are laying hundreds of eggs , so tonight for dinner we are having bacon and eggs on toast, that will be quick and easy for me as I dam well hate cooking, id rather be outside working , mucking the hens out or doing 10 loads of washing before id do cooking, but I do love eating :)....

A bit chilly today here , sunny and windy too, no rain though , when is summer coming.? Sheila...

My thoughts on your recents visits from the council are , I think they want your house back for a family, and that they are looking for reasons to get you out.....

I could well be wrong , but I lived in a council house for 18 years and like Madartha says I never once got a visit /inspection from them........I could be wrong , but it seems weird that since all of this
" bedroom tax " business has been going on, plus did you say a while back that someone came out from the council and you had a plan of how you were going to stay where you are ..?

I could be completely wrong but its not right that they are snooping about in your house, something dont seem right at all to me.......

Have you not asked them why they are doing all these visits? And what their intentions are .......Something is not adding up, I hope you get it all sorted and the inspection goes okay.........Sheila

Can I ask about lavender? Is it a plant that comes back every year? Would it grow in a pot? What uses around the house would lavender have?ight it help with the midgy problem?

    Ta :D

Slippers finished :) they're more like socks but work all the same.

Sheila your environment sounds lovely. Whenever you talk about it I get a picture in my minds eye where I can be very happy indeed.

Oh alliums! I like those too. Do they come back year after year?

Makes perfect sense Nutty, will have a look in Aldi. Who'd have thought so much drama over one spot!

Pops try not to worry, it sounds like it will all be sorted and nothing for them to complain about anyway.
That poor woman killed in the fire should be a lesson to all of us - not only was she putting her life in danger but the firefighters too. I have a friend who's parents have been hoarders like that all her life. Her children have never been into her parents' house. Her mother has recently died and her father will not allow anyone to touch anything in the house, it's a nightmare.

Fuddle yes it comes back every year and can be grown in a pot, although don't know about midges. You can put it in shortbread, but the main use is to make things smell nice (but I hate the smell!).

3D thanks I'll have a google. I was hoping it would fade a lot quicker than this, but it's still very obvious.
